Well, I still think it's your tire. Two reasons, 1) I've had the same problem, 2) I've seen your tires.
Now eliminate what I think by getting some new tires. You're not gonna waste money giving it a try since you need them anyhow.
Unless of course, when you say "I am sure now it is not the tire but the engine." you mean you just got back from getting new tires and the problem didn't go away. In that case I stand corrected. I won't be the first time I was wrong, just ask my wife.

Hey Glitch....I was wrong once but I was mistakin'.

My buddy is giving me his bars off his Ducati 900 Monster. I should get them by Thursday. Hopefully they have a shorter profile than stock. I have never changed out bars before. Is it hard? I'm not sure how to remove the throttle. (rookie)

Somebody was going to get me the numbers on the stock bars so I could compare...Torqer. J/k, I know you are busy selling bikes. Do you know when SMHD will have a CityX on the floor?

Does anyone know if they are shorter in the rise?

Buy yourself some new grips now.
The clutch side won't come off without cutting.
The throttle side isn't very hard.
Just pay attention on how it comes off.
The hard part is routing the throttle return cable. I can help if you think you need it.
I think the rise on the stock bar is like three and a half or four inches.

I will be getting tires soon but I am just really paranoid, I dont want to be without my bike because I ignored a balance problem with the engine. I can still see the tire being the problem but like I say, this is my first Harley Davidson engine and I am not familiar with all of its quirks. On another note, the city X is a strange bike. Obviously there is a market for it otherwise they would not have built it. The plastic is neat but are the going for a dual sport bike in the future with the hand gaurds and light protectors? I love dirt riding and if my XB could fanagle some wicked trails and jumps my mountain rides just got way more interesting! Tight twistys, jumps, scenery not seen on street bikes, I like it.

a balance problem with the engine
I thought you were having a shutter under braking.
What's got you worried about you engine.
Remember these are noisey, vibrating, lumps, you're sitting on top of.
But of course, if you can't get that warm and fuzzy feeling without seeing the bike tech, put tires on and go see 'im. You'll have to make an appointment for during the week, but Saturday, it's first come first serve. I say put tires on, because Shred's tires were in better shape than your's and the first thing they told him was to get new tires.

I ride my bike to work everyday to demonstrate that I can get to work faster on my bike than in a car.
It allows me to sleep in as long as I can and when I get a faster bike I'll get that much more sleep.

In fact all I drempt about last night was getting a new bike. You all were in it too, not that I was dreaming about you guys but you were in it.
I remember showing torqer the XB9R I got used, it was a bit beat-up but I got a good deal. I must have gotten a really good deal cuz it was bright yellow, a color I would not buy on purpose. It was an odd dream, as most are and very long... all kinds of stuff happened in it and it seemed to last hours and was all about motorcycles.

A4TR..I had a motorcycle dream as well a few nights ago as well. None of you guys were in it (thank God), I was riding wheelies down the street with a bunch of other bikes. I gave too much throttle and flipped over. It was my xb9 but with full body faring. I was horrified to think how much it was going to $$ to fix....Weird.

New12r: Are you sure the two side of your front suspension are set the same? And that the wheel / tire set up isn't just out of balance? Both can cause cupping. The wheel / tire combo being out of balance can cause oscillation. If you need tires anyway, start with the easy stuff.

I do not know when we'll be getting the CityX in. but I can't wait to see one. Does anyone remember where the pictures of that girl off-roading the 12S were ? That is a good application for those handlebar protectors.
She was jumping it in a full race, It was rad.

A4TR: We will be getting that jacket in.

B_S: I'm Lame! Sorry. To measure it correctly, it takes some string, tape, and a measuring tape. Tape a string from tip to tip and from end of rise to end of rise. The measurement between the two strings is your pullback and the measurement from the flat to the end of rise to end of rise string is your rise measurement.

I am out for Friday. I have to work late and have for almost two weeks, So, I'll be needing to spend some sugar time at home. : )

Torqer: Couldn't find any shrink tubing. Gonna try NAPA tomorrow. They were closed so I went to Pep Boys and Auto Zone.
Gonna be picking up the transfer paper tomorrow as well. Any word on that red plastic?

B_S: I'm out for Friday and Saturday, but Sunday is an all ride all day for me. If Sunday's good for you we'll figure the details Thursday.

The only reservation I have about the CityX now is I wonder what (if anything) they're gonna do about behind the fly screen.
I just took mine off to put my new Micro-Arrow Carbon look blinkers on (way cool, and a lot brighter).
Nothing pretty about the backside of that. Plus it was a bit dirty from rain and what have you.
There's also a foam strip across the back.
Maybe they'll clean up the wiring and maybe a chrome horn. I dunno, I just wanna seee the thing.
Also looks like the seat may be taller, that's a plus if you're long on inseam like myself. Saw Bryant (Bigun) a little while ago, he hadn't heard of it. Might be his next bike, if ya go by how excited he sounded.

Shred is planning to head to Suches Saturday am and ride all weekend.
I'm sure you'll get the details Friday.

Ummm...
I dunno where cycle gear is, I just followed Dave when I went there. IF Dave doesn't post them I'll ask Michael, I mean Shred.

A4TR,

I will have to meet everyone a Cycle World, Samantha will not be home until 6:30 and it will take about 40 min. to get to the destination.

Torqer,

I have noticed that there are no weights on the front tire, and I know the two sides of the suspension are set the same. I have made two adjustments to the front suspension and every time I zero the dial to make sure nothing has moved, and that I am setting them the same amount of turns out.

Glitch,

Do you have a digital camcorder? I will be getting some new tires at the end of next week and want to get a good video of the old tire "Lit up like a christmas tree" if you know what im saying, It is already shot so what the hell. I would not mind an analog one either.

Well there you have it. I would be willing to bet there's not a wheel/tire combination that doesn't need to be balanced.
Do you have a digital camcorder?
I got a camcorder we can use. Also have a capture card on my 'puter, so I can burn your burn out to CD.

No weights on the front wheel makes a question mark over my head. It is rare to find a perfectly balanced tire. I'd start there. If after the new tire is balanced and installed there is still a shuddering problem, pull it right back in the shop and explain. If there is an issue with the engine or brakes, it should be covered by the warranty. This Sunday I have am engagement with my in-laws in Cumming. So an am ride in the mountains may just work out for me. I will find out today.
