Hello Fellow WCC'rs!
What a nice way to start a month off with 13 Clubbers on hand for September's meeting. John B, John, Anthony, Mark Hempsted,(thanks for the surprise visit at Autobahn),Kurt K, Steve Holland,Speedy, Curt Ringwald, from the wilds of Aurora Jim Krueger and his bud Eric. An with a a big smile and a warm handshake, Sam Scolastico from the club's beginning. This was a time when the hour and half was no where neared what was needed for catching up.

Discussions included the review of MotoGP, Speedy's latest standings on the racing front with him standing tall in ThunderBike but with a hot contingent of competitors on his rear tire for his positions in LW SuperBike, SuperTwin and LW GrandPrix. His season finale will be at BHFarms this weekend with four races per day both on Saturday and Sunday.

As many of you are on IL H/D's electronic mailing list, that seems to be a little "behind" in event notification of Open House dates/times. Call in for the latest info.

Looking forward to seeing another large group there for October's meeting.

On a more serious note. Three years to the day that our bud, Greg Holman passed.

Ride well, brother, keep your eyes out for us.

Slimey Crud is coming up next weekend. I am thinking about riding up sometime on Saturday and staying overnight. We can get some riding in on Saturday and possibly stay near a nice riding area to optimize the weekend.

What are the thoughts?

Tim,

Although tentative at this time, I'm interested in your Slimy Crud Sat/Sun proposal. Bad weather would change my interest, and I also need to firm up some personal matters before I can confirm my availability. But it sounds like a great idea.

Fellow Buellers,

Thursday October 6th, 7PM at IL H/D in beautiful Berwyn. We are all looking forward to the rundown of those heading up to do the Crud Run fall episode. Many are interested in how Speedy faired in the last race weekend of his season in September. Of course we look forward to bench racing with all who attend from 7PM until 8:30PM. If the weather holds..I'm riding so hope see one and all there.

Ride well,

Keith K

Dear WCC'rs,

Contact with Tim Gunderson, Frank Lesh and yesterday's call from Speedy reflecting the new closing hours of 7pm on weeknights, it was decided to cancel tonight's meeting and postpone it until the first Thursday in November. I will post this on the web as well.

This could be it for the season.

How about a ride to Starved Rock on Saturday. We can meet at the BP/McDonald's in Channahon.

Who is up or it? I am open on the meet time.

Tim, I'm interested in a ride Saturday. Starved Rock would be fine. We can also travel a bit further into Kettle Moraine area of Wisconsin west of Milwaukee if there is interest....the only bad part is getting there and back on the super slab :-(

I would also be interested in riding somewhere into Indiana or Michigan if you know a decent destination that is doable during daylight hours.

Regardless of where we go, my preference is to get an earlier start. For example, rendezvous someplace between 8am-9am time frame.

Let me know your thoughts.

Curt,

I am open regarding location or time. I can find a route in Indiana/Michigan however there are not very many curvy type roads. There are some nice routes through the National Lake Shore areas if you are OK with more of a chill type ride.

Are there any other interested riders? Tim, Marc, I know you are out there!

Curt is meeting at my house for a ride into the National Lake Shore and about. Meet time is 9:00am.

I am thinking that this will be a easy cruse to enjoy the colors and scenery. We will stop for Lunch at a place to be determined.

I am open to the length of the trip.

Any others? Tim, don't make me start taunting you. You what I am capable of!

Looks like crazy fun. Probably makes a spirited motorcycle ride feel tame by comparison. Was this your first jump?

I have been busy and did not have a chance to report on our Indiana ride last weekend:

Curt and Marc met at my house for a ride in the wilds of Indiana. We headed up Red Arrow Highway to the Dunes National Lake Shore area for the start of the ride. Since this was more of a leisurely ride, we took the opportunity to do some sight seeing along the way.

The first stop was Dunes National Park. We walked down to the beach, enjoyed the view of Chicago and threw some rocks into the lake like every young at heart guys would do.

We rode a bit further north after riding "Stage Coach Road" and stopped to see The "House of Tomorrow" that was transported from the Century of Progress Exposition held in Chicago in 1933. We had to traverses flooded and sand covered roads to get to the houses. They Uly's took it in stride and Curt's HD held it's own.

Riding further north and continuing our National Lake Shore Tour, we stopped at Mt. Baldy. This is the highest Dune in the area. Once again, we stopped and then hiked to the top of the dune. Not an easy task in riding boots and leathers. The top of the dune featured sand (of course) molded into very unusual patterns from the wind and recent storms. Soon we found ourselves at the bottom of the dune by the lake. Being strapping young men, we took the climb back to the bikes in stride.

Riding further north, we stopped at Redamak, the premier Hamburger restaurant of New Buffalo MI. We had a great (fun) server that made the lunch that much more enjoyable. We even had an older couple ask us about The Dragon Tail we were discussing and they told us their tale of being lost at night driving on the tail.

We rode another 10 or so miles north on Red Arrow Highway and then turned inland. We spent the rest of the afternoon riding in the farmlands of Michigan and Indiana. We made a run down Wing Road. It is one of the curviest roads in a very flat area.

Ultimately we made our way back to my hometown area and parted company on interstate 80.

Turned out to be a fun end of season ride with great company.

Fellow WCC'rs,
We should discuss our future meetings soon. IL H/D is enacting earlier closing times during the week, 7PM, for the winter hours. Where shall we meet as we all know getting to the dealer earlier will by trying for some if not most of us. If anyone has suggestions bring them up and we can discuss and vote for a solution.

Sounds like a great ride Marc, Mark and Curt!
Ride well all,

Keith K

Keith, i think the 1st thing is to look at the active members home locations and give us a 10 square mile area to suggest meeting locations. temporary or permanent.

Once the area is known I think finding a table, hall,VFW or new dealer should be relatively simple.

secondly, I know the new ILHD countryside location would be better for a good percentage of us regulars, but that doesn't help us now.
We do need to decide or find out if we will still be welcome at the new location. My understanding they are scheduling to be in the new location in the spring.

I may be able to arrange meetings in Burr Ridge at my office. We have plenty of room, big conference rooms, ample parking and virtually any resource that we need.

If there is interest, I will approach the owner. If nothing else, it could work until spring and the future at ILHD is determined.
