WCC Riders,
I would like to sponsor a Buell motorcycle get together at my Plainfield home on Sat June 25th so we may ride to Plainfield Hawg Nights. Along with Hawg's, there are many sport bikes and vintage bikes that show up at this event. I'd like for us to have a contingent of Buell's other than just mine this year. We can meet at my Plainfield home where I will grill and provide drinks to get us started. Then we'll then hop on the bikes and ride to downtown Plainfield which is 6 miles away. This would be a very good "spouses social ride". If you want to bring your spouse and kids, please do as this is a great family event and we'll have spare lot sports at my house for the kids prior to leaving. Those of you who bring your family will "minivan" them to Hawg Nights after grilling . Please also find a way to bring your Buell as well so you can display it proudly at Hawg nights.

Arrive at Marc Hickman's home 4pm to 6pm.
Burgers, Brats and drinks @ 5pm
Depart on bikes for Hawg Nights 6pm.
Hawg Nights from 6pm to ??

Please PM me and confirm your interest and how may family members you will be bringing by Wed June 22nd so Sara and I may complete the shopping. Hannah, Braden and I will be your host for Sat 25th as Sara will be out of town.

Hawg Nights!!
Hawg Nights are back!! Yes, they are. We are happy to announce the upcoming dates for Hawg Nights and hope you can join us Downtown Plainfield. Limited Parking will be available for bikes on Lockport Street. There is also plenty of parking around town.

Dates: June 25th - July 30th - August 27th
Time: 5:00pm – 9:00pm
Location: Downtown Plainfield

Great time at "Homecoming". Although they are as sharp as Mike's photos and most of them have a certain Bueller in them here are the photos.http://photo2.walgreens.com/walgreens/thumbnailsha re/AlbumID=13129332006/a=570452006_570452006/otsc= SHR/otsi=SALBlink/COBRAND_NAME=walgreens/
Hope everyone is good. How was the evening in Plainfield? Sounds fun, can we go to the next?

As far as rides, the month of August is out, VIR,Indy, and NJMP will consume it. July-Mid-Ohio,then prepping for August races...
I believe we have some "surgery" to perform on Marc's Uly in the near future. Maybe we could turn it into a ride/gathering as well???

Fellow WCC'rs,
It looks like Thursday July 7th, 7PM @ IL H/D for our monthly meeting. We should have many in numbers as it has been waaaaaaay too long since we got together. Hope to see everyone there for some great riding weather.

Ride well,

John,
I believe in the January or March meeting Speedy did mention a Countryside location for a possible move. I guess going the meeting Thursday will answer all our questions!

There is a new BMW Motorcycle dealer on the corner of Lagrange Road and Joliet Road. I was in there today to purchase new Olympia riding pants. I was talking with the owner and he pointed out the new HD dealership that will be in the old Circuit City building right across the street. He said it was IL HD.

By the way, the new BMW dealership is very nice. The have a huge selection of higher end riding gear and helmets. It is about the only place in the area that has the selection and stock that they do for high end gear.

I still plan on going. Especially the mile on Saturday.

We can discuss at the meeting. Will you be there for the meeting? With no big trials going on, it must be like a vacation!

Gents,
Greeting from Minneapolis! I want to go to MotoGP as well. here are my two favorite events other than the MotoGP itself:

1). The Lucas Oil Indy Mile AMA Pro Flat Track Grand National will return to Indianapolis, the Racing Capital of the World, on Saturday, August 27th as part of the Red Bull MotoGP weekend.

2). 3 p.m. to 3 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, Monument Circle and South Meridian Street in downtown Indianapolis will be a flurry of engine roars and leather.

I'll recommend we ride down on Saturday morning and then ride back on Sunday afternoon. I have an important software go live on 9/5 so this will be my last chance to have motorcycle fun for a while.

P.S. My 2006 Ulysses is down for rocker box oil leak which should be replaced by July 23rdish. After further inspection of the oil dye, I found it was not the starter, but the rear rocker box gasket that was leaking. What can you expect after 36K hard miles! I have found a part time motorcycle mechanic who is completing the rocker box gasket repair for me given Marc and Mike's busy work and race schedules this summer.

P.S. Has anyone considered buying General Admission tickets this year instead of reserved seats? It seems we spent most of our time walking around MotoGP anyway looking for multiple views instead of sitting in our reserved seats.

Children 12 and under will receive free general admission to any IMS event in 2011 when accompanied by an adult general admission ticket holder.

I will volunteer to drive my station wagon down with myself, daughter Hannah, son Braden and any of the Martinez kids interesting in going if we can find kids who want to attend. I will be checking my kids interest tomorrow night.

Let me know what you are all thinking after the Thurs meeting. I can do either...riding down single or bringing a few kids in the station wagon.

Marc,
Who is making the fix on the bike?
You may want to replace both gaskets while the motor is in the right position.

I like the idea of taking the boys to the race. I'm sure they would want to go, but this would scale back the late night plans on Sat. Where did you find that info. about race entry?
I'm OK with general admits for Sun. I guess we could wait until then to get them, unless you can save a few $ by buying them sooner. I'll find out about that.

I have booked a room at the same place as last year? Very good deal through Hotwire. $68 for a very nice place for a night 10 min from the track. We can use the free bike parking this time, assuming we all make it that far this time.

Yes Tim the big trial is now over. A relief, but I'm still up at 2:30a each night, so hardly vacation. So I just can stay up late enough to get to a meeting. WIll you be in Ohio for the debut?

Please make an inquiry about interest in Moto GP on Thurs. night.
Thanks.

The same Holiday Inn works for me. The general admission tickets to the GP work for me as well. I can get the tickets for the mile race. That way we can all sit together. I will get a count and bring it up at tonights meeting.

Currently, my plan is to go to the race on Sunday. We have a barbecue with the new in law's on Saturday. If the barbecue gets delayed, I will make the run to Mid Ohio to see the race on Saturday.

Fellow WCC'rs,

Attached below is the training vendor that is local and their imbedded links have more information about the courses they offer. Check them out and let's see if we have interest.

July Meeting Notes,

John, Sherrie, Kurt, Steve H, Mark H, Tim, Anthony and Keith were on hand of course Speedy when the parts counter freed him up.

Topics tossed around the bench:

MotoGP proposed departure times, and reports of the pros and cons of going down Thursday for the rider media event. Friday is practice, less crowds, track is accessible for photos almost anywhere. Saturday is Qualifying and has it's advantages. Seems like many want Gen Admission tickets rather than fixed assigned seats, of course every time I attending our assigned seats were great, but one does roam around. Many thought the "traditional" Indy visit had it's merits. That agenda is; ride down on Saturday, check in, go the Indy Mile, then visit the downtown festivities. Of course Sunday the race and depart soon afterwards for the ride back home. Some folks are planning on four wheeling down to the races and others are ridin' regardless.

MotoMuseum in St Louis MO was brought up as a place to visit this season. Why the trip? Perhaps for the 150 bikes on display, not only for the reknowned Triumph Grill and now we have Triumph, Ducati and KTM dealer nearby but the neatest news, Hotel Ignacio has now opened. This means the visit can be much more relaxing as riders can venture down to the "Arch" town, feast at the grill visit the Museum, stay the night and perhaps do the Arch before returning home the next day. Something to ponder.

Speedy's Racer Report has some great news.

As of the meeting Speedy is THE points leader in Thunderbike, by a point

Lightweight Super Bike, Lightweight Grand Prix, Lightweight SuperTwin Speedy sits in the thick of the point fray with 3rd, 4th or 5th place standings.

July 23/24 a BIG double feature race at Blackhawk Farms with the 75 Lap Endurance Challenge.

11:30 AM Satuday race and 9:30AM Sunday are the start times for Speedy's classes this weekend.

August 20/21 again at Blackhawk Farms this time a less crowded event, with Speedy Racing at 1PM on Saturday and at 3PM on Sunday.

September 24/25 @ Blackhawk Farms one of last races of the season to determine the points lead with 1PM Saturday/ 3PM Sunday race times.

There was some talk of getting a group of club riders out at one of the events to offer support and see some great local racing.

Every Friday from 5 to 7 PM our host dealer, IL H/D provides some refreshments and an informal get together for riders of all bikes to attend and check out facility and items available. A yet to be determined, outdoor movie night is in the plans as is the facility move to Countryside. As of this printing, perhaps as early as November of this year or before the beginning of riding season in 2012 we will be supporting our sponsoring dealer at their new location.

Any questions, please drop me a line,

Ride well,

Keith K

Paul,
Here is where you find kids 12 and under are free:

http://www.indianapolismotorspeedway.com/about/404 23-IMS-Kids-Club/

All kids 12 and under are admitted FREE to the Indianapolis 500, Brickyard 400, and Red Bull Indianapolis GP, when accompanied by an adult holding a general admission ticket.**

I would prefer to simply show up and pay general admission tickets this year the day of to account for any weather issues which come up on Sat or Sun.

I have discussed with Sara, Hannah and Braden and they are interested in driving willing down. How about we have our wives team up together and they can take your mini-van or my station wagon. This will allow you and I to ride down on motorcycles with the WCC gang? We definitely get to partake in Sat night bike outing in downtown Indy, while the wives and kids return to hotel for pool fun.

I am thinking that I will ride down Friday morning. That way I can get to Indy and watch practice and then hit the flat track race. I believe Sharon will ride down with me.

I will get general admission tickets for Indy. I can purchase the tickets for the mile race if I get a count.

If i remember right, dealers were rumored to charge apprx. $80.00 for a TPS reset.
I assume your bike is prior to 2008, '08's do it semi-auto with key and thottle, i think.
If it is an 2007 or older build than i should be able to do it for you. It's been 18+ months since i've hooked up to my bike, so I'd need to check/find my cable, that i can still communicate and check my notes.
Downers Grove PM me if you need my info
You have an issue?

All,

I was thinking about a trip to Wisconsin next weekend. Sharon is off to Washington DC so I can hit the road. I thought about something similar to last years trip with Tim I and his friends.

Leave early Saturday morning or maybe Friday night. Stay in Dodgeville or somewhere similar.

Anybody up for it?
