Just got back from the store with eatin' materials and happy juice. Sandy is making her delectable 'tater salad and mac salad(my favorite). Got a fresh load of pallets in today for the bonfire. We are cleaning the shop so that everyone can park their bikes inside if they wish. I built a hitch mounted tilt loading ramp for the back of the Tahoe so the wife can tote the Blastulys to TWO with out having to tote one of my too big for a bike trailers. We will be leaving out early Friday am for a crooked ride to TWO. If we do this right it will take about five and a half hours to get there riding as quickly as we can.  Sandy should be there in the truck in about three and a half hours. Perhaps somebody could help her unload the Blastulys if she gets there that far ahead of me? It looks like twelve to fourteen people for the Bonfire Burgers and Beer. About seven campers and about nine riding South Friday am. Breakfast will be on the road this time though, Sandy will be on the road to TWO instead of making breakfast biscuits, eggs, and gravy and such(sorry). We are scheduling to be at TWO by 1:00 Friday. We will discuss the routes when all of the guests arrive from the Great White North. We have so many options. This is gonna be fun............................................... .................................................. ..........................................again!  Frank, it is only a "little" out of your way!  Wolfie, I would love to see you and Ken "pop in" tomorrow ala Daytona. You guys really made my trip with that little stunt!  | ||

I'm meeting hillis in charlottesville va, we're gonna head to the blue ridge parkway, take that to roanoke, hop on 81...and head to vern's. PM me if you want to meet up, my goal is to be out of Frederick by 8am; GPS (that crappy old Quest II, LOL) shows about 9.5 hours here to Vern's. | ||

This'll be my first Buelltoberfest, and it's been a Long time coming. I'm showing up with a tent, a sleeping bag, and a few days of clothes. I have NO idea what to expect, but I'm stoked and ready for an awesome time! | ||

Since my trip has officially been dubbed "The Trip of Unintended Detours", yesterday did not dissapoint. I left Chapel Hill and had a nice lunch in Mount Airy, hooked up with the Blue Ridge Parkway at HWY 52 in south Virginia... I was aiming for Cherokee or Ashville at the least. It was a beautiful day and the Parkway was un-crowded. I also took my time checking out a few local attractions. Around Blowing Rock, it started to rain a little bit, which was not a big deal after I took the time to get the rain gear on and fix up my tank bag and tool bag with the trash bags I brought with me. Then Mother Nature proceeded to kick my azz. It was getting dark, but as it was warm and had stopped raining, I thought, no big deal. It is a national park after all... I was having a fairly good time... then about 10 miles north of Mount Mitchell it really started to rain...  Some bozos from New Jersey were freakin out in front of me... and I was stopped to get around them. You know, you only get more wet if you quit moving. What felt like an hour later the fog was coming in, and I realized I could be in some serious doo doo... if I got too cold and wet, that is most definitely a dangerous thing in the mountains. I was 18 miles from the last exit and 20 miles from Ashville when the visibility dropped to around 10 feet. I decided that at least up at Mount Mitchel there may be a shelter to sit under until it blowed over or a pay phone, because my cell didn't work for shit up there. Luckily I found a friendly park ranger that was leaving for the night. He was on his way to Marion, so I followed him out and back down to civilization. Fortunate for me, it all turned out ok. I had a lot of time hiking in the smokies in college and know that weather up there is no joke. I got into Marion around 9:30 PM last night. I am leaving here shortly for Buelltoberfest. I hope the rain holds off until I get there. | ||

The rain has made it to Virginia. It's going to be a wet ride to Charlottesvile. But after that, there will be wonderful weather and riding. Oh, and good eating at Vern's. Be careful out there folks. (Message edited by Hillis3 on October 14, 2010) | ||

Whatever- Lots of good roads north from Marion back to the Parkway if you're heading that way- try 221 A or B, or a few miles west, take highway 80 (Lake Tahoma Road/Buck Creek Gap Road). All of those are excellent! | ||

We made it to Copperhead about 15 minutes ago. Bikes are unloaded & luggage is off. Two bikes, luggage, & 2 adults is a LOAD coming up in the mountains in a 4-cyl Ranger! Shift to 3rd gear, put pedal to floor, & try to maintain the speed limit. Guell followed us from home in his truck as far as Turner's Corner where he peeled off to head to C3 Central. I passed & later was followed by a yeLlow Uly on 129 on Blood Mountain (Carlos?). Passed a red 1125R just south of Blairsville. See y'all in the morning. (Not_purple_S2, your CR awaits!) | ||

Hurray I made it to T.W.O. !!!! It all went to shit on the way.... Ran out of gas while exiting the slab so I started pushing. Only to realize it wont roll, why? I look down .... FLAT TIRE also.... I managed to get it started again and limped it to the gas station where I through a plug in it. then to tifton harley to have a tire put on. But, any way, I got here only 2.5 hrs behind schedule  | ||

Hugh, We're here at C3. We'll be riding out with Paint and the group going to the Gap tomorrow. We can hook up there or when we get back. I'm not going to risk riding the CR around to much without a tag, especially not to the gap! I'm thinking a quick test drive tomorrow or Saturday. got everything packed and headed for bed, leaving VA between 4-5am if all goes as planned and should hit T.W.O. about 9:30 or 10...wooo-freakin-hooooooo !!! By the way, my son saw three Buells (two Ulys and an 1125r) gassing up off I-81 in Abingdon, VA around 5pm this evening, was that Hillis3, Rat and Froggy or some other group? | ||
