Frank,
I am not familiar with the 110 auto. usually the auto is for beginners before they are coordinated to use a clutch. Not that there is anything wrong with it for Lynn. She might get bored quickly with it in my opinion. Sounds like with what she went thru getting used to the XB, that shes a capable rider and could handle more of a bike. But that is up to her and you. She would have to sit on the 1st one to see how the height is for her. I Highly recommend her being able to feel secure with both feet being close to flat or at least on the balls of her feet on the ground. Tip toes would be tough because, as you know, the ground is not flat like a road bike rides on and having to get the feet down and secure quickly is a must. The first one being street legal is a big plus. You usually have to spend around $600 or more to make a strictly dirt bike like that legal and as I said before, being legal will make the bike much more flexible in the ways that you can use it. Most dirt bikes do not get used much sometimes because of this. Insurance for these are next to nothing. And, to have a off road only bike or ATV requires you purchasing an off road sticker just to ride it in the dirt. They cost around $25 for Colo. only. If you go to another state, you than have to get an off road stick for that state too. When the bike is street legal, like mine, non of that is necessary because of the license plate. Just some info on that situation. Yes, you could purchase smaller wheels but before I would do that, you can slide the forks up in the triple tree and they make a link that you can get for most of these as a substitute in the rear suspension to lower the bike too. That rear fender pack is nice, but when getting off the bike quickly, they tend to catch your leg and the next thing you know, your on the ground. Trust me I know. mine came with one, and until i removed it, I fell many times. I wear a backpack anyhow to carry all my stuff when riding.
Hope this helps.
John

Frank,
KBB value with out the street legal mods. A bit high on the asking price. Always check KBB to get a ball park idea of price.

John, thanks and that does help. Lynn wants to get the Buell paid for first so we will wait. I looked at some of the lits (Baja Design) to make them street legal but they do not carry them for all bikes but I am sure I can mod them to fit.

For me I do not know what I want either. It is a big market out there. I am hoping that we can get Julie and Dan to let us look a there bikes. I know Julie has a longer inseam than Lynn but it is not by much...

We will go look at bikes again. There was not a very good selection at the two places we looked....

There is a place down in Pueblo that we will check out...

Thanks again for all your help John..

We are on our way home and finally have access to Internet. My dirt bike is a Kawasaki klx 140L and Dan has the klx 450R.

We did about 550 this weekend. Went north, west and south. Did 3 different passes yesterday. Will post some pics when we get home.

Had a great camp site. It would be a blast to get together with you all and do some camping and dirt biking

Julie, I am glad you and Dan had a good time and I wish we were able to make it out there to camp with you. It sounds like we need to get the gang together for a camp/ride event.

I'm back Zac. Thanks for a good ride.

Julie, my apologies for not catching your post about coming through Canon earlier in the weekend. Glad you and Dan had fun, though.

Back to work for me tomorrow. Thank God I have a job! ; )

I had another fun dirt bike ride today in the Central City and Idaho Springs area. Excitement of the day was having a black bear run across the dirt road about 50 feet in front of me. First time in 30 some years of exploring the back country to see a bear.

I know Zack took a few pictures, but I'm not sure if he, the camera, or his computer is stable yet!

I want to get up there again sometime. Between me and Zack we ended up with very little ride time left in the day, it was funny.

What else is going on this weekend?

WOW John. I wonder if the bears are being chased down that way due to the fires. It was a beautiful day today. Any pic's?

No pics of the bear. It ran across the trail in front of me and then up the mountain side. I did not stop for obvious reasons. Could be from the fire, ya never know. Wildlife has to go somewhere.

Putting out feelers---I'm thinking of selling my Cherry Bomb XB Scg. It's a 2007, just over 23K miles on it and meticulously taken care of. There have never been any mechanical problems with this bike. Never dropped. Anyone out there that might be interested before I put it out on the market? I'll probably be asking around $4500.

Yes it is so John. We're trying to follow your example....keep things to the minimum of stuff, just the essentials (and try to be debt free). And keeping life simple. We're trying to figure out what else we can get rid of. We actually put our house on craigslist for fun, just to see if there are any bites out there. Unfortunately, the market is quite bad right now, especially in the price range our house is at. I even mentioned selling the toy hauler but we've really enjoyed it, so it will stay for a while. : )

All In the Good Lord's timing!!!!

That is wise... I had a feeling, after you got the 1125 , the Scg's days were numbered. I know your Scg is a great bike. I hope the right Bueller comes along...

Good Luck Julie..

Lynn and I are in Taos and having a great time with her parents. We will head home tomorrow.

I tried out my new Joe Rocket Survivor riding suit and I think my riding season just got longer.... Very warm.

Oh yeah, I remember Lynn telling me about her parents coming down and y'all staying in Taos. Good to hear the suit will extend your riding season. It was a beautiful day in Southern Colorado so I followed Hwy. 96 over to Rye and came back this afternoon. I enjoyed riding that way down to Taos two weeks ago with y'all so I had to check it out again. I noticed the Aspen leaves are starting to change color already!

Julie, good luck with selling the bike. It is a tough market but maybe if you don't have to be in a hurry you can get what you want. If you and Dan do sell the house maybe you can move down here to Canon and start a compound!

Actually, Jody, we're thinking of heading to the western slope, in the Delta or Cedaredge area. Lots of great street bike roads and dirt bike trails out that way. I also have an ex-sister-in-law that lives in Grand Junction so I'd get to visit with her more often. It could take years to sell this house, so we're not in any hurry. We have houses in our neighborhood that have been on the market greater than 3 yrs.

And the bike, it will go when it goes. No rush on that either. We'll try to take some pic's tomorrow and put it in craiglist.

A simple life is a good life. Good luck with the bike and house. I will probably be selling my house in a few years to downsize too. Hopefully the market will turn around by then and it will be a big part of my retirement money. Just keep enough of the essential toys to keep ya having fun.

Julie...I know what you mean about having a lot of finances tied up in a house. My house up Golden Gate Canyon became our primary residence and our vacation home! You have a very nice home...which is great for the entertaining that you guys do (and we all enjoy).

Knowing how well Dan takes care of your bikes...I would be first in line to buy your bike if I felt like Lori would get more into riding.

But for now I just spend my time reading about everyone riding...sad that I can't join you all. I will be home for R&R around Christmas...hoping for a warm spell...at least warm enough for me to ride a little in Denver (but still be able to ski in the mountains)!

We are home. Got back about 1300... I really hate I25 but we wanted to get home quick. I stopped at a rest stop and took off the Survivor suit because it was really hot (comfortable from Taos to Walsenburg. I can see why these things are so popular, plus it has padding.

I will post pics later but I wanted to share something.

A guy walked up to Lynn and I while we were getting ready to leave. He was very curious how we packed things on the bike. He had never done an overnight trip and was going to do one next weekend.

We talked bikes and he mentioned he had a Sportster but now has a YZ1 (???) He decided to get rid of the Harley when they (HD) killed Buell... I thought that was interesting coming from a guy that does not, nor ever, rode a Buell and actually owned a Harley at one time.

Sometimes with a big corporation, actions are louder that words.

I hope everyone had a good weekend... I am off to find my camera.

Frank
