Looks like New Mexico was rough on us Buellers! I hope someone has what they need, I know there aren't a lot of parts for the tubers these days.

Dan and I are planning on going back to the Lake George area this coming weekend to do some dry camping. We'll be taking the street bikes and planning some rides in and around that area. If anyone would like to join us, you are welcome. We'll be camping off Rte 77.

Yes John, I did have Someone watching over me. Like I said before, it was incredibly scary.

I'm trying to get all the new Buell customers to check out BWB.
Getting a LOT of folks that used to go to Sun.

Oh yeah - I gave Kerri one of the CBR patches -

Whiskey's starting to work, I don't like to post when out of control... heheheheh

Loren and Meribeth are safe at the house. The S3 developed a hole in the Oil Bag from the tire rubbing on it through the fender.

I picked them up in Silma, CO and got them to Fountain. We were going to try and fix it but Loren decided to rent a uhaul.

Thanks Zac, I thought if you had one in stock we would run up and get it and do a little parking lot replacement but that would not be solving the problem.

It is great having them here at the house anyway.

Loren and Meribeth are back on the road and heading home to KS with the S3 safely in the back of a Uhaul truck...

I hate that happened to them, but I hope they got enough good riding days in to call it a good vacation. I know they planned to see a lot of Colorado after visiting New Mexico.

Nice pic John. We did Estes on Sat. They've paved a lot of the road up there and it's sweeeeet. Are you liking your new (old) handlebars? I'm going to be riding my XB this weekend when we go camping out by Lake George. The 1125 needs new shoes and we don't feel like doling out the $$$ now and the shoes on the XB are brand new. Hope to put on a whole bunch of miles this weekend. Come join us (The toy hauler sleeps 3)

It's totally free Frank. And it's really beautiful. The skies should be very dark as it's a new moon. We had a full moon 2 weeks ago and the sky was brilliant.

Julie,
Handlebars are fine. No elbow problems. Unfortunately, I have plans thru out the weekend so no camping for me but will take a rain check for sure. Still want to ride dirt bikes with you guys before the season ends.

I'll be staying at my sisters house this weekend while she is out of town and will have use of the garage. I don't have to be back to work until Wednesday! May have to get the old XB9 working again.

Julie, you and Dan have fun...

I think I would want a dirt bike I could put a tag on. I know there are some out there and I know you can modify a bike to some extent to make it street legal. My thought is to just buy one that is already street legal... Do you all have any thoughts on that?

I wonder if I can talk Lynn into going to look at bikes today....

Yes, must be street legal to do a lot of my riding yesterday. I rode from home.
When I purchased my bike, it was NOT street legal but had lights on it. The WR Yamaha's come that way. I had to add a rear brake light switch, mirror and horn and then have the State patrol inspect it to get a title. A bit of trouble but not too bad.
Frank, it would be best to get one street legal. I did not because I wanted a true dirt bike to ride on the road. Not a true dual-sport bike. They are generally heavier and do not have as good of suspension. I have been dirt biking all of my life. For a beginner rider in the dirt, a dual-sport bike would be the best.
What is nice about these, is that you can just ride from home and not have to trailer it. I also use mine for running around instead of the Buell.
One benefit, is that you develop better bike handling skills riding a dirt bike. They open up a whole new world of motorcycling and Colorado has dirt roads just begging to be explored!

I grew up on dirt bikes but were no where near the technology of todays bikes. I am hoping Lynn takes to it because you are right, you develop skills that transfer to the street...

We will look at some today. Once I find something Lynn likes I will start the search for a used on. Thanks for your advice...

Yeah, I can relate to that, Frank. I grew up on old 1970's Yamaha dirt bikes and then got a 1970 Honda SL125 dual-sport as my first street legal bike. Loved that thing. I've been thinking a lot lately about getting a dual sport or dirt bike. Anthony has a nice CRF150F trail bike. I've been thinking about getting something like that, but leaning more toward dual sport, like a Honda XR650 or a CRF230L. Lots of space around here to ride those.

I am curious as to what bikes you and Dan have Julie???

We went looking today, Lynn like the Honda CKF 100 and there was a KZ 125 as well I think.... I favored the Honda KLX250 Dual Sport but think maybe a straight dirt bike will work... JCBikes, you have a great looking bike as well...

Thanks Frank. It is a 2002 WR426F. The F stands for 4 stroke. If you get a two stroke you will have to mix the oil and the gas and cannot just fill it up at a gas station. 2 strokes have more power per cc's displacement but the newer 4 strokes have good power. I found mine on craigslist this time last year. Now is also a good time to purchase used because people used them this summer and the riding season for just dirt bikes will be coming to a end in the next month at higher elevations, so people tend to sell them near the end of the riding season. You have to be careful buying used dirt bikes because some get abused really badly. Just common sense like buying anyused motorcycle. If I can be of any assistance, let me know.

Ha, I remember mixing oil and gas about 100 years ago... I have heard more and more good things about the four strokes over the years. Seems they are getting them down.

Thanks for the offer of assistance, if I find anything I like I will post up so everyone can take a look...

I know Lynn is short. Yamaha makes a really nice 125 dirt bike that has smaller wheels and suspension to lower the bike for short people. My neighbors wife has one and she is barely 5 foot tall. It also has an electric start, nice. I am pretty sure it is the yamaha TTR 125E. they make one with larger wheels that is TTR 125LE. Worth checking out. Should be able to find a used one. Just google it for more info.

You are correct and we looked at one... I was really happy to find something like that since she will need to feel comfortable and especially while it is a totally different type riding from street riding...

I wish we had some this weekend. We went out to a friends house in Hanover and it is a good 20 miles of dirt...

At least I got a little Dove Hunting in while we where out there...

I found the LE

I am assuming I can just put smaller wheels on it... And street legal... I am thinking that would be perfect for Lynn..
