lots of stuff in Harley come from autos...GM Delphi. Valves would fit great in a old chevy...Everything is heavy as ... Can't understand how someone could break a Harley engine...just carrying the parts increases muscle mass. LOL... And the crank...You use a sledge hammer to true them.

so I just listen to Carlos and buy what he says are good bikes. So far it's worked out.

Oh gravy...just make him impossible to live with!

And I used to laugh at Mike Warren.

Now that's funny!

Congrats on the new bike. Glad you had a safe journey home.

I have lubed my first chain.

I got a license plate over lunch. I had no issues at the DMV. I must be blessed today.

Congrats!

When can I ride it?

Looks like my Buell may be heading north. Way north. A potential buyer from Canada. Must be really dedicated.

Too soften the blow of selling my Buell, I bought a 2010 4 Door Wrangler Rubicon. When I sell the Buell I will have the cash I need for a 4.5" lift kit and TRXUS MT 37x12.5. ready to rumble in Uwharrie.

Carlos, there are some nice lift kits for your Commander : D

AEV has a nice show Commander they did. Sweet.

Something in a Z stripe maybe? Ulywife loved the Z stripe on our first Suburban.

Truth be told if I had the money, I have several up-grades I want to do to the Uly.

My wife decided that she wants me to keep the Buell so my son can ride it in a couple years rather than sell for half what I paid for it.
Luckily she decided this after I got the Rubicon.: D
Now I have all new reliable toys. And I can raid some saving in January to get the lit kit and tire money.

I'm in no hurry. I don't want to take it away from you so soon. You just brought it home, you deserve time to 'bond' with the bike before handing it off to someone else. : )

Should we trade for a few days like we did with the Firebolt and the Ulysses? After you've had some time to settle in with the V-Strom it would be interesting to hear your thoughts on the SV.

That would be fun. I think the bikes have essentially the same motor. I like the power band of this engine. While I miss the Uly's ability to throw the front wheel into the air by snapping the throttle open, I do like being able to ride at almost any speed I need to with out having to shift gears.

Has anyone seen my clutch fluid?

I'm thinking I'll be riding home in a single gear...

Good thing I picked up some DOT 4 over lunch.

Tried to leave the parking lot at work - twice... Both times it stalled when I kicked it into 1st.

Temporarily relocated the GPS, removed clutch master cover, poured in DOT 4 and pumped the lever until it started raining. Put everything back in place and was able to ride home safely with a functioning clutch. And didn't get too wet either!

Ray Price has the update parts on order for me, but they are on backorder until the end of September. The funny thing is that there is not a lot of fluid on the clutch cover, and it's not wet fluid. A small mount that has dried on. I'd pull the puck to see what's up but fear that would end up in disaster by making things worse.

It now makes sense how I stalled it trying to leave a stop 3 or 4 times in the past couple of days. But what doesn't make sense is that the degradation in clutch lever release vs. clutch engagement was so incremental that I didn't notice something was up until I left for work this morning and the lever would come back more than half way to the bar before any pressure would build up. In a way it was kind of like riding Webe's M2 when it had the clutch misadjusted. It certainly wasn't anywhere near that bad when I came home last night - and there wasn't any fresh fluid on the ground or the clutch cover as mentioned before.

Different In Every Sense...

I've had this weird feeling all weekend.

Like I'm in an adaptation of a Rob Zombie movie.

I forgot a I was brewing a gallon of tea on the stove. The smoke alarm reminded me later that night that it was still brewing. Other than a ruined pot, nothing bad came of it. But it scared me. That would have been ugly w/o the detector.

Cool Jim, I've been to Abilene. There is a VAST expense of windmills just west of there. More of them than I have ever seen.

It's also not too far from my kids. They live in Stephenville, which is about 100 miles west of Dallas.

Moving this weekend?

If you were referring to last weekend, I should've been - if it weren't for some damn pesky mortgage underwriters.

With that, I guess it's time to stop dropping hints and drop the complete bomb...

However, now it appears that tomorrow afternoon will finally be the closing. So starting tomorrow after work, continuing over this coming weekend, and however long it will take after that I will be moving.

This is what my new digs looks like (even though these pics were taken nearly a month ago):

New digs 1

New digs 2

It sits on nearly 3 partially wooded acres, but I think everyone can figure out it is the 4 car garage that drew my attention. since the width of the house is 25 feet, the depth of the garage is enough to fit the DED SLD inside! There's nearly 1,000 square feet of living space on floor #2. Finally, the fact that it is on what is probably my favorite road to ride around the New Bern area is just icing on the cake.

my new road

The move will be a royal PITA! I will be painting the garage walls and ceiling first and then coating the floor before I can move any garage stuff in. I'd like to build a permanent fire pit, so if anyone has any cool ideas for one I'm all ears. But that will have to come after I am fully moved, unpacked and at least somewhat organized. Definitely need to build a workbench as well.

I can't wait to throw my first Buell party! Hell, I could probably fit all of the Buell's that could possibly show up in the garage... Kinda sounds like a challenge, doesn't it?

Who's up for the challenge?

Dang Brankin, that is awesome. Congrats man! I can only dream about the amount of garage space. Hope to see it sometime soon.
