Julie,
I haven't heard anything about a ride this Sunday (tomorrow. I think some guys went to Miller this weekend and some are going to HPR on monday. I have plans for now on Sunday, but if I hear of any thing going on, I will let you know. Are you guys still thinking of dirt bike camping next week?

We're thinking of doing a ride up to Conifer, maybe up Squaw Pass to Idaho Springs then up Central City Pkwy and Golden Gate Canon (maybe).

As far as next weekend, I need to talk to a friend of mine to see if she needs me for a workshop we're doing. If's that's on then probably not. Otherwise, nothing definitive at this time. We'll keep in touch.

Oh and the high bars are GREAT. I have been humbled. I really wanted to keep the clubman bars but they didn't like me. Took a 90 mile ride today and it was incredibly comfortable. : ( Oh well, I'm just not the MAN I thought I could be (LOL)

Julie,
Thats a good ride. I have been to all those roads this past week except for Squaw Pass. Still snow up there along the road that was visible this week from above Idaho Springs (I did "oh my god" road this week on the dirt bike). Had a friend ride his bicycle up there two weeks ago and he said it was still like winter up there. If I did not have plans for tomorrow, I would join you guys for sure. What time are you doing the ride?
As we get older (and wiser) our bodies can not take the same positions on the bike that we used to. I like the crossroads on the buell but when I get off of the WR with up right bars and get on the buell, its like now this is not comfortable. I thought of putting the stock bars back on the buell but maybe in the future if i start having problems. Comfort is more important if we are not racing.

John, not sure what time we might be heading out. Not sure if we'll do Squaw Pass as Dan's not a friend of cold. Most likely will go to Conifer then Shadow Mtn into Evergreen. (of course all depending on the weather).

What road did you do the dirt bike on (the "oh my god" road)? When we were up at Woodland Park there was one place that still had some snow. It was in the bottom of the valley where a stream went thru. I kept meaning on stopping to take a picture of it but, as you know, when you're scooting thru an area it's hard to stop sometimes.

Everyone ride safe and be careful. We saw a couple of accidents and many police out this weekend.

Lynn and I rode (Lynn on her XB12Scg and me on the S2-T) down to Red River and stayed for about an hour so the girls could shop then we rode to Monti Vista for an over night stay. There is not a lot there but that was as good as place as any. At least the hotel had parking for motorcycles away from cars.

A couple of pics.

A ST1300 Police bike (this may be my next bike, without the police stuff)

Red River

No idea where this one was taken.

More pics when I find my cable for my camera

Ready to Go!!!

First stop was Walsenburg for some water and relief from fighting the wind (Edis is in the pic)

Walsenburg is a strange town but here are a few pics for Court.

At the hotel

Packing for todays ride

At Texas Creek for chow

Park Ranger was busy

A beautiful day

Todays temps were a welcome change from the heat and the wind. We had an uneventful ride save a lady trying to use my lane in Alamosa. Today with the wind at our back I could have easliy done 25o miles on a tank of gas but after 500 miles I was ready for some breaks... So was Lynn. Lynn did great on the XB and is really getting use to it and what the bike is capable of.

Frank

Zac, what does RMA mean? Does it mean I have 4 snubbers on the way?

Frank - it means I have to talk to James and get a ball rolling.
The lady at SPOC said H-D would get the snubbers out to anyone that bought a kit where it was missing.
Not sure yet how much paperwork is involved.

Dammit on the belt... I'm home.
Loretta is past due for the 25k service, otherwise I'd pull the belt off The Beast.
I HAD to ride Loretta today, it's been a while since I rode her.
Putting a lot of seat time on the Uly, much better commuter bike than Loretta.

Frank - is everything OK with your 11?? Call me if not.

Zack : ) Starting my 3-day weekend now!!!!

<edit> I sent Al an e-mail about the status of the kits.

I have not heard about the 1125 yet but I never call those guys since they have really treated me right in the past....

If you can, and it is not a problem, please check on it. Before I come up to get it again I would like it if you and Dave would check it out. I have to have it for Homecoming.

I wish I got a spare belt for the Uly for this very reason. He is about 300 miles from me but it could be done in a day.

I always keep a spare belt on hand...but my spare is in NJ with my bike. After my recent adventures...I really wish I could return the favor for this guy.

Frank, what's up with the 1125?

Lynn, I'm so glad you are falling in love with your Scg. It's a great bike. I'm now looking for some boots with thicker heels for the 1125. After I find some, I'll then use my track boots for the track. We also put the high bars on the 1125 and it's so much nicer. We didn't get out today, a little too windy and we ended up doing a lot of work around the house, MUCH needed work. So tomorrow we hope to get out for a short ride as we have company coming over for dinner. I also have my private lesson at High Plains set up for July 5. I can't wait, will be using the 1125 on the track.

Maximum, you're in our prayers dude. You be safe out there.

Happy Memorial Day everyone.

Steve, not much really. I think I am being too picky. When I picked it up I rode it around and things were good but I found what I think was a historical code for the fuel issue.

I just want them to check it to make sure it is right.... It always ran great no matter the code so it never really bothered me..

I am looking forward to a day without riding. I have been riding for the last three weekends. Texas, Lake City, Monti Vista and Red River... Relax is the name of the game today....

Zac, got a question. You got the Erik Buell Racing Race ECM correct? If so, how do you like it? What'd your fuel millage go from, to?

It sounds like everyone enjoyed a quiet, relaxing day at home. I got out and road for several hours today... on horseback! What a treat. It sure makes the seat on the 1125 feel much better. I enjoyed a great meal and time with friends just swapping stories.

Sometimes it is difficult to know what to do on a day like Memorial Day, but I think enjoying our freedom is one of the better ways. I can never forget the old soldiers plea at the end of "Saving Private Ryan" that he hoped he had lived a life worth someone else dieing for. For him it was a personal burden. It has taken me over 40 years to begin to appreciate what my duty to enjoy freedom is, and it is hardly a burden. But to think of repaying the debt is impossible.

Ryan - Yes to the ECM.
I love it, this is how the bike SHOULD run.
Strong and smooth, after maybe 400 miles, 40 mpg AVG.

Chris and I stripped the south side roof today.
Just got finished loading the old shingles and cleaning up the yard.
Tomorrow is tar-paper and shingles...

Good news for me! I have a new job with the Fremont County Government as an IT dude. It starts June 21st, the day after Homecoming. I also finished up my work with the Census today. That gives me a full week to get ready for Homecoming. I'm psyched.

Dan and I did a ride up to Estes Park today. What a beautiful day. Met a fellow Bueller. His name is Jim and we brought him home with us. He rides an Scg. We'll be joining you guys on Sunday. Jim will need to be heading back to Nebraska tomorrow. He lives in Texas but is doing a job in this part of the country for a while.

See you all tomorrow.
