Frinzo - hope it's a simple fix. Let us know when you're ready to ride!

The weather was perfect this afternoon after work. I came home, got my gear out and pulled the Blast out of the barn. When Carlos rolled in, he took the Blast and filled the tank...time to ride! We covered about 70 miles or so. It was a nice ride. I love spring!!!

It looks like I might be replacing the Firebolt sooner than expected. I found what looks to be a clean SV650 with a decent asking price. Sarah and I are going to check it out tomorrow, hopefully we can strike a deal and I'll be back on two wheels.

I've heard that is a great bike Spike, I've considered getting one myself. I hope it ends up in your garage.

Hey guys it's me Gramps. Yea I'm still around. So does anyone know where the Sunday Biker Breakfast has moved to? A while back it was over at the Steak House in Hillsborough but last time I went by there were no bikes and looked like the place was closed. Thought I would get out this week and see what type of deal I can get on a new City X. Way too nice of a day to be in. Going to head out and do some ridding. Hope everyone is well.

I'll be damned. I DO remember you posting several years back. It's so good to see you are ok. I'm feeling the old age myself. Gotta schedule a Dr. visit on Monday for my failing left knee. Lots of snap, crackle, and pop. Added bonus=bone spur stinging at all times, unless it's fully flexed. I want to at least ride up for one mountain grass visit before I have to go under the dreaded knife. I've been quiet about the problem for over two years. The spur is agony, and I can't deal with the pain anymore. It's time to get it over and done with. Good luck with the Ciyt-X. You might have to travel.

We came close, but I wasn't able to bring it home today. We couldn't find a notary on short notice. We made an appointment with one for tomorrow, so if everything goes smoothly I'll have it in my garage by sundown.

Gramps - welcome back! Boy it's been a long time.

Twig - keep us posted about surgery. We hope to cut mountain grass soon! We'll post up and let you know when we're heading that way.

Spike - good luck on the 650! Hope it all works out.

Good News...the "Girlfriend" is back!!! The M2 left the driveway today for the first time in almost 3 years!! We weren't sure it was going to start at first, but after changing the jumper cables, one good backfire and she rolled right over and purred beautifully!

Carlos got in a short ride and brought it back home. Later Webe came over and they took the M2s out on a longer ride. Love the sound of the M2s!

Needless to say, Carlos came back with a big permagrin! Tomorrow a new battery and inspection. The tags are way out of date...but it's the right color sticker for 2010!!

Hi, glad to hear everyone is doing well and Spike riding again. I am happy everyone in C3 is doing well. Seems this group sticks together well. I got the Cat running and suprised my self by rejetting it perfectly. New pegs, grips, throttle cables, and a few small things that needed fixed. I took off, rode about an hour...felt great. Took off about 3/4 power. Hit 2nd..nothing..3rd, 4th..Well now I stopped, no chain. I found it, light damage, missing master. I put a cheap master and limped it home. I got a DID Professional Oring and have to put it on. As far as I can tell no damage from chain. Just have to do the brakes soon...clutch, end of summer, and a speedometer cable i broke my first test ride.
Now for the main reason I am posting. I am going to florida, to MMI. I am leaving next week. I have been to long without a job, and I figured I would try something I like. The only regret is leaving my daughter and knowing how hard it will be to get her there to visit on very little money. Hopefully I will be back fully able to help my friends out. Take care. Larry

I have no idea where people are getting together these days, or even if they are.

I hope you find that new CityX. You do know there are no more new Buells right?

It took two trips to Goldsboro, but I finally got it home:

It's a 2001 model with ~9500 miles on the clock. It shows its age in a few places, but overall it's in great shape. For $1600 I couldn't be happier.

On another note, minivans rock:

Spike - congrats on the new bike! Love the baby toys hanging by the bike - LOL! Sign of a good daddy and very understanding wife!

Larry - best of luck in FL. I hope things work out for you. Living a good distance from your children is hard, but still very manageable. My sister and I lived as far as Green Bay WI while my Daddy was still here in NC. We managed to travel each summer and Christmas vacation to visit him.

Anyone up for a ride Friday? Kids are in school and Carlos and I are off! The only catch for me is I have to be home by 3:00 so I can pick kids up from school. Other than that, the day is open for suggestions!

Gramps the new place is further up north from the steakhouse on the right. I will go through my mail and try to find the name of the new place.

Edit: the name of the place is Jack's quick lunch at 121 Rebecca Dr, Hillsborough.

BTW, hey everyone.

Larry, hang tough.

Gramps, good to here from you.

Spike, like the bike.

I was walking to my office and saw the sun came out. From that point on all I wanted to was ride the M2. I really missed that bike. The Uly is a great ride, but the M2 for local rides is just a kick in the pants. Got home and Kristi was already gear up and ready to go. We did a nice 50 mile ride before dinner.

Thanks Mike. Can't make it this Sunday but will be there next. Spike. Bike in the van? I just carry a spare tire but your idea could catch on. Heck I would even be looking for nails to run over. Found a 2009 City-X. I'll see what I can do.

Thought I post up that Smoke and I will be racing with CCS at CMP-Carolina Motorsports Park in two weeks on April 10/11. Sat is sprint races 8-10 lap races. Sunday's race is the Michelin Team Challenge which is a 65 laps.

65 laps...now that's a race

Should be lots of Buell's racing since theirs several different class's to race.

Good Luck Shred, daughter is in a pageant that weekend so won't be able to make it. Well maybe the 11th.

Rode the M2 to work today. I am still just running it through its paces to make sure everything is okay. After its first tank of gas, its like the bike was never parked for almost 3 years.

Hey Spike, you still up to date on using the ECM Spy? I have the program, the cable, and what I think to be the maps from 2004-2008, stock and race. It all looks greek to me! I have the stock ECM for an 04 12, trying to load the race ECM program on there. ANyone know anything about the program?

I know enough to swap and tweak maps, but I'm just as likely to break something with a computer as I am with real tools. : )

What part are you having trouble with? The first step is to make sure you have backups of your original eprom and maps.

If I remember correctly, you're not able to copy the complete eprom file from ECM to another unless the ECM versions match. I think you have to load just the maps from the race ECM and burn those to your stock ECM.

I found this thread on installing race data on your stock ECM: http://www.buelletinboard.com/forums/showthread.ph p?p=100063

SV Update:

I got the registration/inspection taken care of on Tuesday, so I've been able to use the bike for commuting and such since then. Now that I'm able to ride it outside of my own neighborhood I'm able to solidify my opinions about the bike.

The engine is fun, but not faultless. In general it's really smooth, but at higher RPM it sends a noticeable amount of vibration through the seat and pegs. Throttle response is a bit lazy (jetting?), but it revs much quicker than the Buell. The engine makes a decent amount of low end for short-shifting and getting through traffic, but it lacks the serious roll-on thrust of the XB12. One of the great things about the motor is the sound, even with the stock exhaust; The little 90 degree twin makes wonderful rumbly sounds at every RPM and every throttle position. It's like a smoother Ducati without the clutch rattle.

The front fork feels like garbage. It's way too soft and has too little damping. It gives the bike a lot of brake dive and almost no feedback from the front tire. On top of that, it's not compliant at all over rough pavement. I hit some square-edged bumps this morning when it was still cold out, it felt like the entire bump was transmitted through the forks to the rest of the bike- very jarring. Some of the fork problems are due to the leaky fork seals and what I assume is OEM ~9 year old fluid. I've ordered new fork seals and some fresh 15w oil. I've also been reading up on modifying the stock fork springs. I think stiffer springs and heavier oil will help with the brake dive and keep the front end more composed, but I think rough pavement will always be a problem with the stock damper rod. The ultimate fix is to swap the forks entirely, but that takes a decent amount of work and is not cheap. The more sensible option is to get some Race Tech cartridge emulators, but at $169 they don't jive with my current budget-bike theme.

I'd like to tell you more about the handling, but due to the front fork situation I can't really assess it. The bike's diminutive size, tall handlebars, and narrow tires make it really nimble and flickable. The bike seems really happy to roll over on its side, but I don't trust it well enough to really lean it over yet.

I've only done a few miles at interstate speeds, but the windblast was immediately apparent. The upright ergos work great around town, but they'll be tiring on longer runs. I think a flyscreen from a tuber or a Blast would help to break up the windblast without ruining the naked look. If anyone has a spare one lying around they'd like to loan me for test purposes shoot me a PM.

Also- I hate chains.
