Sorry been in school. That is actually the check engine light which would usually come on when I get up in the revs going up and down in elevation. normal, it gets stuck in open loop and runs like a bat out of hell, but only idles like crap, reason I never really let it idle. Turns out to be a fuel pump problem. When I turn the key the pump doesn't whine, the needle sweeps but no whine. Motor turns over just fine no abnormal noises but just won't fire. Fuses are all good and I switched around the relays but to no avail! So now I get to dig into the wiring, yay

Well, at least it isn't seized!!! It did sound wierd as you costed to a stop... something tapping. What was that??

the drive cover is off the 03 and I'm running the new larger. I never really got it cut right, thats what the tapping is.

You probably have a shorted fuel pump wire then. Yank the fuel pump connector and verify you're getting juice. It could be a break in the ECM harness. If not, the pump isn't too difficult to get out:

Jim, that motor will never die. I broke it in right. What fixed the trans?

I took the drive belt off, and twisted the pulley while rocking the bike back and forth. At one point I could actually feel something 'give' and tried the shifter, all worked fine. retorqued it and it hasn't been an issue since, knock knock knock!
I
m in the middle of changing the gearing and tires on the Z, plus full time school, so when i get a few minutes of ME time I'll get the tester out and see if I can get power to the pump. Thanks Sanchez

Charles- if this motor ever dies it will be because it was hit with an astronomical size comet! When and IF I can get this problem straightened out, she is going trail riding! Heck it's already done everything else!

wew .. finally got the bike back on the road last week. New stator and new VR and a new ECM is going in soon.

Wired up the mount for a GPS and put a Volt Gauge/temp gauge on.

Now if will just warm-up so the ride to work isn't so cold. I swear the temp gauge keeps flashing "your crazy" "too cold" "nuts"

same meter from stich catalog

Got it while the bike was in the shop. Looked nice but forgot its not waterproof. Took an idea from the stitch catalog and took it apart and sealed it ( I hope ) with silicone. Liked the idea of it but not so pleased with it. Mostly because it dose'nt fit anywhere well.

Other issue is that I tossed the wiring directions before I wired it up, or even read them actually. After getting it installed, I'm guessing it's supposed to be wired so it's on all the time. I wired it into the aux power along with the GPS but it has no batt so the clock resets every-time I shut off the bike and there is an orange wire that I have no idea where it should be wired.

It works for now but I think I'll replace it with another setup at some point.

Let me know how the sealant works. I got the same one, and I also didn't realize it wasn't waterproof. I have a plastic baggy wrapped around it, and it looks like crap.

And yeah, one of the wires is supposed to go to a constant 12v source. : )

I'm hoping to have enough interest for everyone to pitch in on a big cabin.
Maybe C3 Central since they'll not be using it this year.
It'd be great to have everyone together since I just found out we're supposed to have a wetter than usual Spring : (

It's ok though, we'll be dry, and if we're reduced to partying all weekend ... so be it ; )
