Rode about 140 miles today with M2nc, Webe and Webe's father-in-law. Even with the sun out and the temps in the high 50's I was still COLD! Mark stopped at a motorcycle shop close to Morehead. I ended up finding a nice pair of winter Joe Rocket gauntlet gloves. They helped, but with the temps dropping as we were heading home my hands were still cold along with the rest of me!

When we got home, Carlos said "you came though those last turns pretty good. I looked back and you were right on me". I told him it was amazing how you can ride when you're cold and all you want to do is get home!

Carlos is now working on wiring my heated vest to the Blast and Uly. My next ride should be warmer. I'll also make sure I have both my liners for jacket and pants. Live and learn!

All in all, it was a good day and I was glad to be out on the bike. Can't wait for spring and the mountains!

Santa brought me a K&N filter for my Buell. Yahoo.
Next month I am sending my pipe out for a Hawk mod and ECM reflash. That will wake up the neighbors in the morning.

Fish, I gave them a taste last Sunday morning. I rode around the Cardinal for awhile hoping you would see or hear my bike and join me for a ride. Bigger neighborhood than I remember. We need to hook up soon. Going to try to get the new front tire on this weekend. Inspection and tags are almost due.

Today until 6pm is the last day to buy the discounted tickets ($13.50 with fees) to IMS in Greenville. They also give you a $15 gift card to Bikebandit.com. Renee and I will be heading down Friday evening and returning Sunday. We will go to the show on Saturday.

Hi everyone, I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year. I have only been hovering on the edges here as I no longer have a bike, much less a Buell. I miss riding very much. Anyway, all you guys have been friends and have been very supportive, so I figured I would get the collective opinion. I have been unemployed for a while now and it seems that I have very little to offer right now. So to make a long story short, I thought of doing something I have thought about for a long time. I have been looking at going to MMI in Orlando. I thought about the Harley course which includes Buell, but i am not impressed with Harley's future looks. So I am thinking of honda, and that gives me more of a year round job than Harley also. Please feel free to post all comments good and bad, as it will all help me make a decision. Thanks Larry.

Guess who's back?

Much LESS drama flying away from the snow. Just like living in the city and commuting to the country for work and missing any traffic headaches.

How was the New Years Day ride?

We had a good ride New Year's Day. We were missing U4euh, but had a good 170 mile ride with Oldog, Webe, XL1200C and me. I was able to try out the wife's heated vest and that is the way to ride in cooler temperatures. Beer, good food and good friends, that always makes a good combination.

Carlos and I went and had dinner with his cousin who lives in Vanceboro. He and his wife used to ride and had all of their gear still in the closet. We came home with an Arai full faced helmet, a pair of HD gauntlet winter gloves, a pair of riding boots for me and after riding boots and best of all.....a pair of heated HD gauntlet gloves!!! I'm so excited. Now I have to order a splitter from Aerostitch and we'll be ready to go!

They are nice. I was out Saturday night on the GS picking up an ADV tag. The low temp I saw during the ride was 19. BIG yellow moon. I had heated jacket liner and gloves, heated grips, and the wind protection of the GSA. I never came close to being cold.

I've got 3 Homecoming tickets now, hopefully for me, Heather and either Brian or one of my Dubuque buds.

The wind protection on that GSA does look nice... The Uly has been a might bit cold lately with it's limited wind protection. Need to work on that and some heated gear!

We rode new year's day. It was in the 40s and I tried out the Stitch heated vest Kristi picked up. We rode 170 miles and I could have continued riding but I would not say I was never cold. My hands and legs got cold, but I could tell the theory of the heated vest was working. My body was like the engine and my arms and legs were like the radiator of a cooling system, harm blood out, cold blood in.

Now this Arai helmet interests me. It is an older model RX-7RR3. It is the great-grand-daddy of the present day Corsair. Top of the line in its day, it still very light and fits me very well. When my cousin sold his Harley, it only had 3500 miles. The helmet is new condition. He had it painted to match the bike so it has a custom Purple paint job. The visor seems to resist fogging. Its not as good as the Scorpions, but much better than the KBC and HJC helmets I have. It is warmer than my Scorpion standing outside in sub-freezing temperatures. It also has this neat little feature, a pull out chin spoiler to block wind. I read the difuser is prone to leak, which is not cool. I just want to get on the bike and try it out, but after kissing the pavement on ice once, I'll wait for above freezing temperatures. Does anybody have any experience with this type of helmet?

The gauntlet gloves are FXRG Harley Leather Gloves about the same era as my FXRG Jacket. They are in like new condition so they make the jacket look old. The same with the heated gloves. They look like they have never been used. Very nice and I can not wait to try them out.

Josh, check to county school web site. The districts with higher test scores are also the best neighborhoods to live in. Same holds true for where I live in Greensboro.
These days there are bargains to be had in every neighborhood. Might as well pick one with good schools too.
