Hey Zac, been hearing there's a new flash for the 08 1125R. Any truth in that and does HCHD have it?

Dunno about the flash, Ryan.
Gotta take Loretta in so everything warranty wise can get done.
Her warranty is only good for another month.

Waiting to hear back from Dave in Ohio as to whether I should go for the latest flash or not.
If it's available, we'll have it.

Loretta is still on 05Z, modified.

Roger. I just got my clutch done with the Rev C parts and cover. Need to go back as the sticker for the clutch wasn't on it when they got it. No biggie. Figure when I go back to that I'll see about that new flash. It's no cost for the flash there right Zac?

Hey Lynn, no I'm not up there this weekend, but wish I were. Today I got a visit from my old fiend Montezuma! Yack! Still recovering from that.

I may have some good news on the job front next week. When the time is right I will let you know.

Ryan, not sure, check with Kevin in Service.
It seems like a case-by-case thing.

Going in to work in a little bit, did NOTHING the whole weekend.
I'll drop Loretta off today If I can figure a way home...
Dave said "go with the newest flash" and he'll make sure I get S/W that works. Great dude.

Here's what Dan's been doing on this cold, snowy day. I'm soooo spoiled.

Finished product.

Now when I'm on the bike, I can touch tip-toed with one foot any only be 1" or so off the ground with the other foot. Much better.

Dan's now working on a modification for my side stand as I can't kick it up or get it down. He's got the prototype and it worked great. That will give me a whole lot more confidence with this new bike.

This went on our FaceBook page and our CRAG Buell adventure rider site. Solicit friends you ride with no matter the brand or model they ride, to write some letters. If you know any HOG stock holders, give them special attention to our plight, or frustration at least. Perhaps write some letters generically for friends to sign with their contact info if they are willing. The more people that send letters, the more likely it will get attention of folks that may make a difference.

Whether you rode one or not or no longer do, you surely know some riders who own Buells. Knowing them, you know they are as passionate about their rides as a Harley rider is, many even more. With recent decisions at high levels of Harley, at a year of unparalleled success for Buell, Harley has closed them down. Rationale behind this is unclear to customers, especially considering the need to focus on younger buyers for Harley and the Buell brand appeals to exactly that demographic.

If you are interested in taking part in a letter campaign to share dissatisfaction with Harley’s Sr. Mgmt decision to close Buell, please go to this link and scroll up & down for ideas on topic and places to send your letters to:

HELPFUL TIPS - this is for a legislature. Adjust accordingly for media and others. For those of you who are not fluent in writing letter or may not have occasion to write often. If you are a Harley stock holder, all the more powerful.

Key points below are great guidelines

Be polite, courteous and respectful

A REAL letter . . . on paper with an envelope and stamp . . is VERY powerful.

quote:
~A Letter to Your Legislator: What Should It Look Like~

A personal letter to your legislator is an effective way to communicate your thoughts and views. A letter can potentially be a valuable tool in changing a legislator's mind. Below are some helpful hints on how to write a letter.

Writing the Letter

Accurately address legislators. Refer to appropriate titles.

For State Legislators:

The Honorable (full name)
State Capitol
Topeka, KS 66612

Dear Senator (last name): or
Dear Representative (last name):
• Keep it short. Write a one page letter.
• Identify who you are. Write your name, address and phone number at the bottom of the letter.
• Refer to bills by number. Reference the name and number of the bill in the content of your letter.
• Make your point. Write about one subject. Include a paragraph about how the issue has a direct impact on you. Give reasons why you want your legislator's support. Remember, if you choose to hand write a letter, make sure it is legible
• Restate your appeal. Reiterate your request for your legislator's support in a final sentence.
• Close the letter. End with a complimentary closure such as "Sincerely Yours" and write out your full name with your full signature.
• Return address. Write your name and address on the return envelope.
• Timing is everything. Write your letter when a particular issue is being discussed and before a vote.
• Send a thank you note. Show your appreciation by sending a follow up note if your legislator supported your issue.

Corresponding by E-Mail
• Use formal language.
• Write as carefully and thoughtfully as you would write a written letter.
• Avoid using symbols.
• Identify who you are.
• Write your full name and address in the content of the E-Mail.

~Sample Letter to Legislator~

January 1, 2007

The Honorable John Brown
Topeka State Senate
123 State Capitol
Topeka, Kansas 66612

Dear Senator Brown,

My name is Sally Smith. I am a constituent living in your district and I am a mother of three children.

I am writing to express my strong support of "consumer friendly health care services," S.B. 123. This bill is sponsored by Bob Clark and would create a provider policy directing consumers on how to receive reduced rates for health care services.

(Add your personal experiences here, including why this legislation is important to you and how it affects you, your family/business/community)

I urge you to support S.B. 123, a bill that would create policies on reduced rates for health care services in Kansas. Thank you for your consideration and I look forward to your response.

Sincerely,
Sally Smith

Try to sign with a ball point pen so that you make a real impression into the paper, yes they do check this type of thing to see if it is just something ripped off a color printer from a form and "rubber stamped" with your signature image.

I wonder if a real hand written letter might do something to get the message actually read. No one actually hand writes letters anymore and it would show that some real time was applied. The novelty might be worth something.

We are able to offer the original hardbags at something like 75% off retail Wednesday while supplies last.

Unlike the Buell apparel offered to all H-D dealers with no advanced notice, we learned of this close-out offering earlier today and started calling our Buell buyers. Orders will require credit card payment when placed and may be subject to cancellation but at these prices, this Buell XB gear is a real bargain.

Limited selections are available. Mostly tank, tail and saddle bags, grips, pegs, old style GPS (Garmin Quest I) some seats, some tools (Uly tool kit). Have your Buell accessory catalog in hand if you call to order.

I apologize in advance if you get this too late or what you order is not shipped or if we could not find time in the day to call you but these are unusual times. We are operating on winter staff and had no idea this was coming. Zac called as many people as he could between counter sales. I was busy arranging to go to Missouri to pick up 6 more 11125's.

I am meeting our parts manager before 6am so we can order with the east coast stores to hopefully get things in at a better success rate then the 5% on Buell motor clothes when that close out was announced the day of the order taking.

From what we can gather, all the accessories that went on special pricing this morning are sold out before noon High Country time. Having learned our lesson from the riding clothes sale, we came in at 6:00am in order to be equivalent to east coast stares to purchase these things. In fact, many of the things we ordered this morning that were initially accepted are now showing "hold" status; usually meaning unavailable.

But, Buell is also offering special costs on the 1125R lower side fairing kit: (Part #M2296.1AMMW)

These are black only for finish.

We are offering these at $339 (price corrected 20Nov) plus sales tax while supplies last and we do not expect there are an abundance of these available. We've sold several of these on some bikes and they look sharp.

If you want one of these, call parts at High Country Buell 720.881.3678

If shipping is required, that will be additional.

Payment can be made by credit card.

~jammer

My neck is sore, Dave, from trying see what that was that just passed by in a blink of the eye. ; )

Everyone, this Saturday may be reasonably nice to ride. My break-in service will be due in about 100 miles. I'm pretty sure I can do most of it myself, but I am wondering about the new flash that will require a trip up to High Country. Anyone planning a trip up there?
