Frank, are you starting the bike without waiting for the check engine light to go out? Normally that error was caused by starting it without letting the fuel pump prime completely.

Yes I am, it is not my first rodeo however, when joe harley dude delivered the bikes he most likely started it and went without waiting. He fouled the plugs on Lynns bike and mine was showing low fuel (it was filled up). But of course I am sure Joe Harley dude is not versed in Buells or anything else for that matter. I cannot blame HCHD. I should have been here for the delivery but could not get out of work.

I installed the lower pegs (adjusted the brake and shift lever) and seat pins today. Much better with the lower pegs.

What a fun day. It all started with Julie and Dan wanting to come up to the Denver area to do a ride with me. Well, one thing led to another this morning and we had eight Buellers on our way to Deckers. We all actually rode together until, on the way back, Julie decided to flex the power of her new CR on horsepower hill and left us all behind. Triple digits Julie? You look great on that bike! You have come soooo far girl.

John, I would have loved to join you today and actually thought about going to Deckers. I know how those rides go and bet you did not have a destination until you were on the road. I am glad a lot of Buellers got out today.

Frank,
I asked Julie about you and Lynn possibly joining us today too. The ride was put together at the last minute. It would of been good for you two to have met us in Deckers. We hung out there on the new outside patio for quite some time. We all have to join up in the future. Glad Lynn is on a Buell now. She will do great on it and will become a better rider too. The bike will instill confidence in her riding because of its great handling, good brakes, lighter weight, and good usable power.

Glad you're enjoying your bike Lynn. I did OK. Got a little tippy only once, but didn't drop it.

Here's a few pics from today. It was a great ride. Perfect pace for the road conditions, etc (John, get that tire replaced : ))

Cool pics Julie, glad you had fun!!.......
we got out again this morning, just reversed the route. Every time I get on the bike I feel better and more confident. I finally figured out if I just relax my right leg against the tank, I have no problem using/finding the rear brake.
Also we practiced at slow speeds leaning (swerving)back and forth the bike...,which the bike responds so well to. Just for a second today I got the bike up to about 95...and whats so cool is I can tell it still had so much more to go........I like how the bike has this deep hum to it when you accelerate....

That time of year again.

Yes it is! I miss flying hot air balloons with my Dad. If the weather cooperates this Thanksgiving he'll be bringing his balloon down for a tether for family and friends. Wish we had an event close to NC for my kids to experience.

Lynn - looks like you're having fun! You look good on a Buell! Keep riding.

Funny you guys should bring this up....as I am getting into Ballooning...figuring I will need a fresh hobby after motorcycles I figure to have my pilot training done within two years. Free rides for Buell hooligans!

as I am getting into Ballooning

As with Buells, you will meet some of the coolest people. The two communities remind me a lot of each other.

My Dad started by volunteering to crew at an event. The pilot, Don, knew immediately that Dad's next ride would cost him! He's on his second balloon and third chase vehicle. He flies three seasons out of the year and skis the fourth. I'm surprised he hasn't moved to CO yet!

application/msword
CBR card.doc (91.1 k)

Above is a word doc for the CBR card to hand out to Buellers that may not be on the BadWeb so they know there are other Buellers in the state. Who knows how many will join us. Now more than ever it is important to reach out to all Buellers in the state.

The bad news. I can only upload 103kb so I have to delete a few of the cards but all you have to do is copy and paste to get a full sheet. Put your name and contact info on the card or just leave it blank.

Use some card stock, which you can get just about anywhere that sells printer paper, and print up a few cards.

I do not know how many I have put on the seats of bikes when the owner was not around or just handed them to the rider.

If you do not have the ability to print these let me know and I will get some to you.

Frank

Here's a guy you should get to know, or get in the loop:

Below is an example from just this week, a guy who didn't even buy a Buell from us. Perhaps it is true; our tag line "you meet the best people at High Country Buell". From here, apparently everything else is down hill.

From our FaceBook page today, a guy who is not on BadWEB nor did he buy his Buell from us. He bought one used from a private party weeks ago. He is the pilot for a private party of some renown in these parts, but no one here knew that at the time he walked in and experienced High Country Buell, the best people in the motorcycle business. Buell may be closing down, but you would never know it around here! If only we had access to more bikes, starting with 7 we have deposits for that don’t look to be getting confirmed from Harley on VOM.
. . . . . . . . . . . …………………….o~’o

I just tried to post the below to your High Country WALL, but wasn't able. If you like, copy my words and post it yourself ....and props to your entire team up there!

-Greg K-------------------------------

HC-Buell, I need to write on YOUR Wall....
Today I rode my 1125R around to 3 central CO Buell dealers.... just to say hello and get a pulse. High Country was last cuz you guys are 30+ miles away. Your website & FB page already made positive perceptions on this new Buell owner, but DANG ....upon arrival I knew right away that you guys are different.

Any business is only as successful as the quality of it's employees, and the genuine morale they carry. I wasn't in your door 5 min when Parts guy Zach saw my Buell jacket (and then later my bike) and began talking my ear off about the 1125. ....we walked outside talking & I got a very valuable education on the inner workings of the bike for the next 30 minutes! GREAT suggestions... thanks Zach. I bought a K&N filter from him, while looking around at the wide selection of parts & accessories you guys carry.

Then I found Dave the sales mgr. and introduced myself as just a new Buell rider and one of your 600+ FB friends..... He welcomed me into his office, dropped his work & we bs'd about bikes & business without any rush. His enthusiam for Buell support is obvious! And all the "extra" activities (fashion shows, kids parties, military troop support, HOG chptr, Buell riders group, BadWEB, etc etc) that you sponsor.....huge kudos.

But I wasn't done.....I walked back to Service where all the techs were busy, and met manager Kevin. Not 2 minutes into describing questions about the 1125's ECM, Kevin asked "Is your bike here.....bring it around inside and let's see if you need an updated ECM Flash."

I did; it did; and Kevin did a computer update to my bike. When I approached his counter to pay something, he just shook my hand and said "Welcome to owning your first Buell and to High Country ...Ride safe."

Wow....You won this customer for life. Fellow riders ....checkout High Country Buell-HD as they are well worth the visit!!

Not surprising Dave. I just called and talked to Zac to order parts and he told me all about it. It is nice to know that important people get the same treatment as us average Buell riders (if there is such a thing).

..... I need that practice of starting and stopping to Julie...this weekend I think will be crap, but maybe some other weekend we could meet you guys somewhere for lunch and do some practicing on our bikes.....I am just alittle wobbly when I start and stop...my greatest fear is giving my XB to much throttle and the bike getting away from me, ...or not enough throttle and the bike killing on me and coming to a sudden stop and just going down. ...

My sentiments exactly Lynn. This bike is definitely quite a bit different than my XB. I would love to get together with you and practice, practice, practice.

Kathy, the girl that came out here this summer from Maryland, rides a Uly and isn't much taller than me. I'm amazed she can ride that bike.

We'll get it tho, just some time in the bikes : )

Hey Gals and Guys. I was out last night on my CR and had two incidents which caused me some serious pucker time. The first was an old lady who OD'd (Oh Dear) when she turned from the right lane into the left, where I was, and on into the center turn lane where I was trying to get to to get out of her way. I grabbed the front brake rather quickly and firmly and felt the hard grab and dive of the front, as well as the oscillation left and right of the front wheel. Why? I was used to the front brake on my XB9 and used similar pressure, but on the CR it was way too much.

Later, while coming down 8 mile hill, I thought I saw a trooper, who spook me these days, and I instantly grabbed the front brake to slow down. I wasn't going but about 70mph in a 65mph zone, but I wanted to make sure I was at or below the limit. Unlike the slow speed incident where I could man handle the situation, this time the grab and oscillation happened in a split second and was nearly more than I could correct for. The end result of such a scenario is called an "endo" and at that speed could be deadly.

The point is... I'll let each of you decide for yourself what that is. I always tell on myself in hopes that my foibles will help keep someone else from being hurt.

In reading your post, Jody, I have to assume you didn't "endo". That's good, I'm glad you're OK.

As I have mentioned somewhere before, I'm currently reading a book on Sport Bike Techniques and ONE of the things he mentions is to go out and practice squeezing (gently) the brakes at many different speeds, especially the speeds in which one likes to ride. Once you have experienced what the brakes can do at different speeds it gives one the confidence to know just how much time it takes to stop.

This is one of the things I am planning on practicing with the new CR for just the reason you mentioned Jody. Again, glad you're OK

Lynn, I'm at work now so when I get home I'll let you know on the book. I usually use the front brakes more than the rear but there are differing opinions on that. Dan likes to be able to use his rear brake to almost locking the wheel. I on the other hand, don't use my rear brakes as much. But, yes, smooth gradual even pressure is what's recommended.

Later : )

Here's the book. I looked it up on amazon.com
