How's the weather down there in Canon City, Jody? Dan and I were planning on going dirt biking this weekend but with all the rain and potential mud we opted not to go. So we had today off, which was nice, except we spend too much $$ at our favorite bike store.

We had a nice shower a few hours ago. I thought mud was what dirt biking was all about?! Speaking of, my new boots are actually MX boots. If I had the $$, I'd probably spend 'em too. Which is your favorite bike store?

Dan's helping Skye right now putting new struts on his car. Afterwards we are heading out for the night to take the dirt bikes out.

Yeah, mud is for dirt bikes but Dan's had enough experience getting caught in the rain in the mtns and doesn't like it. Our dirt is actually clay and it sucks you in!!!! Dry dirt is better, especially for a beginner like me!!!!

Performance Cycle. They have no bikes, just stuff, and lots of it.

Enjoy the riding Julie. I am meeting up with Frank and the Altitude Riders this afternoon. Where do you take the bikes to ride?

Have fun riding with the group.

Julie, have fun riding and camping. I dodged the rain and made it home hardly wet at all. Saw Jody and he was headed to Divide, I hope he missed the rain.

The Altitude Riders are going be meeting at 0900 tomorrow and heading up to Deckers so they will be going right by you.

Lot's of rain heading up Ute Pass, of course. It got kind of cold(while still wet) there in Divide. I enjoyed listening to the music even though I was late getting there and didn't have more than 10 minutes to visit with my friend. Made it back via High Park about 11:30pm!

Hi John,
We're back. Didn't realize there was a tornado warning. The sky was definitely black and we did have hail. In thinking about it, we did hear sirens but thought it was from an ambulance or police car. Maybe it was the tornado warning siren. WOW

We did have fun. Got in about 34 miles this morning before the weather came in. If I can figure out how to get our pictures on this new computer I'll try to get them posted.

Up in the burn area, it's just amazing

A forest ranger took our picture, a real nice guy

This is at the trail head, I took off in the wrong direction while Dan waited for me to turn around

Lots of beautiful purple flowers

Friday night I got a phone call, 8-8:30 pm.
It was Ray Farrell(Rocket_ray), he was in town from Grand Junction, and he had the Drummer.

He and his wife stopped in and dropped off the exhaust and left.
They were over here for a "classic" bike ride thru Walden and Snowy Range.

I put the exhaust on immediately and got to ride to work yesterday.
The pipe looks very good, much better clearance on the rear tire than Ryan's had.
Sounds GREAT.. growls like an F1 when you rev it up.

Today I put Loretta "down" for masking, sanding and painting.
Between the Cottonwood fuzz and mosquitoes, the clear lacquer is being a challenge.

Lawana and I went up to Ft. Collins this afternoon to see Ray and Grace and met a bunch of the "antique riders".
I saw 3 Indians, the 1952 Vincent that came by the shop a few months ago and a few Nortons and Triumphs.
One of the Nortons, a 1959, had the strangest bodywork... never seen even pix of this thing.

Anyway - Ray! - THANKS!!!
I got a great sounding exhaust and met a bunch of cool people. BONUS

Z

Had the morning off and it was sooooo nice that I jumped on the Buell and headed west. Winter Park - Granby - Kremmling - Dillon - Loveland pass and home. 220 miles with a grin the whole way. I was thinking of Julie and Dan and I have got to get ya out for this nice loop sometime soon. Fantastic weather up there with only a few puffy clouds to go with the deep blue Colorado sky.

When we get a weekend day that has a low chance of rain of course. We cross the conti. divide twice so cold and rainy would not be fun. Will keep ya posted. Anyone else would be more than welcome to join us too.
Still want to do the rocky mt. park free day loop too.

We have a 3 day weekend coming up. Our offices are closed on Friday. We do have some preparing for our trip next week but we are definitely planning on getting out at least, hopefully, 2 of the 3 days we're off on the bikes. Dan wants to get the oil changed before the trip.

We had a mouse or something chew the wires to the brakes on the trailer so Dan fixed that. We rode up to Woodland Park and back last weekend with NO brakes on the trailer and I drove home, all the way DOWN 24. It was a little tense but I did OK.

I'm also planning on doing another track day thru Chicane Track days down at Pueblo. I'm going to sign Dan and I up for August 16. It's $120 which isn't too bad. John, get some leathers and go for it. It really is fun. I hope to get at least 3 track days in each year, so one more to go, maybe in Sept.

Hey Julie...I'm off Friday too. I have been missing a lot of good rides so far this year because of my house project...but we are finally moved in (even though there is still plenty of detail work needed) and I need a good ride. So I was talking with a few guys at work today about doing a ride like this Friday morning.

I'm thinking about meeting people at the I-70 and Morrison Rd. Park-n-ride...doing a couple hour loop...with a stop at my house in Golden Gate Canyon for a quick visit.

Anyone interested?

Steve, I talked to Dan and we might be interested. It's about a 45-50 min ride for us to get to I70-Morrison Rd. Let me know what time.

I sure would like to go with you all but I will be on the road.

Steve, I really want to stop by the new house sometime. Hopefully you can make it to Julie and Dan's house for a BBQ in Aug.

June has been a busy Buell month for me with Homecoming, New Mexico and the S2 Gathering. I am looking forward to just getting out for a couple of hundred miles a day instead of what I have been doing.

I imagine Dave and Bob along with their group has returned from Alaska by now. It is too bad they do not post on this site because it sounds like it would be a great adventure.

Frank

BTW: The Uly is now Flat Black. It started by trying to clean it up a bit and ended up with me painting the plastics again. Pics soon!

I was thinking that everyone could meet around 8:30....so we would be riding by 9:00 at the latest...and done around 11:30. Of course if anyone wants a longer ride, they could leave my house and back up Golden Gate Canyon Road to the Peak to Peak Hwy. Another option is to meet at the normal meeting spot (the Conoco off C470) and take the back way to Evergreen rather than taking I-70 to Evergreen. This would be about 10 minutes closer to you guys Julie.

Frank and Willie, sorry you guys will be out of the area...it was kind of a last minute idea. Just know that there is an open invitation to my Badweb family to come up and visit anytime...and enjoy the sweet canyon roads around here! Just let me know.

Steve, meeting at the Conoco might be better for us. Plus the canyon would be a nicer ride vs I70

see you there and would love to see your house. As I have mentioned before, we built our house and did most of the detail work. It's a handful but I would do it again (altho Dan wouldn't)
