Maui??????????????

Wowee!!!!!!!!!!!!!

New bike arrived today. Coincidentally, the keys and title arrived in the mail. Will pick her up in the morning. Looks like she may have been a Drag Bitch. Either that or someone just smoked a fatty on that rear tire. Oh well, seller is sending a new tire via UPS along with spares, etc. She looks very sweet with the silver power-coated Force header/exhaust, custom seat, steering damper, smoked windscreen, etc, etc.

I don't really know much about dirt bike riding, can one of you folks tell me if this is the correct way to get your bike into a van?

If the above link doesn't work right, you might try opening Windows Media Player, clicking File, Open URL, then pasting the hotlink address into the address box.

It's a real entertaining 7 seconds. I suppose it's been doctored with the video equivalent of Photo Shop but it's still entertaining.

Hello All. Yes I still live. Exist? My storage bill for the S3 is through the roof! Thanks soo much Gootch for the most-kind offer of help/ parts. With any... (fuck...I was gona say luck..) something... I may find out what's wrong with it befor I die. I don't whine so well, so I won't get into the last 6-months of loss in detail; suffice to say WAAAAAHWAAAAHWAAAAAH!
Ahem, having said that, what else is there?
Ray the Main called me the other day . That was cool. Talked about rides we've had, other friends, other days. There are a couple sport bikes that live just down the street from me. Still raises the hair on the back of my neck when they lift off. Miss that.

sooner, Galen

Galen, haul the damned bike up to Gootch. He's got pro's who can tell you exactly what it's going to take to cure Betty for once and all. Post your address and I'll send you the first $20 bill towards Betty's recovery. Frankly, I'm tired of thinking of you bikeless, clueless, loveless in Seattle.

I'll match that. And there's a reduced rate on shop time til the end of the month. Not to mention that our rates up here are the same dollar figure as down south, from what I've just been reading on the XL List thread on the subject.
BTW there's a good article about racing airhead Beemers in the latest Cycle World. We should sponsor Galen for that!

We are in for $20! Galen you have to get Betty back on the road soon! She misses you as much as you miss her! I am sure that Stu can get her back on the road for you.

Shotgun, you got the keys, have you got to ride it yet? Can't wait to see your new toy. Feb 15th right?

Hey Bob-n-Deb are you guys still out there? Tried to call you today and say howdy, what ya doin next weekend? I have some plans for ya if you need something to do! Get away come stay the night. Mike and Kim how about you? We really need to get together and talk SPLASH 2004. Dinner here Saturday? Let me know what you think. Have you checked out Sac Borg? Acid Burn is doing the BBQ in Packwood, and has his reservations! It's going to be more good times.

Looks like we are going to Maui April 4-11. Anyone one know where we can go to get good air fare on a non stop flight from PDX to Maui?

Have a nice week everyone!

Loni: Block out an hour or more to do a little Web search for low fares. Try Expedia.com, Travelocity.com, Orbitz.com, Cheaptickets.com, Travel Ally, Netscape & Yahoo travel (Do a Google search for "low air fare" and see if that pulls up anything better).

Be flexible with your time and dates if you can, and consider flying in/out of SeaTac (sea). Can you take a few days of sick leave on the 2nd and 12th as it's cheaper to travel during the week? Are you sure you want to go to Maui? Flights to Honolulu are more plentiful and less expensive.

It looks to me like it will cost you about $150 each extra for a non-stop flight, so maybe a two hour lay over in San Francisco isn't such a bad deal after all.

After you get all the information you can gather on the net, call a Travel Agent (or two, or three) and see what they can do for you. They frequently have "Package" deals for hotel and air fare that can't be beat.

Good luck and enjoy your vacation.

Loni, got the keys, got the bike, rode her home. Ran like crap. Back tire so bald it scared me. Got home checked plugs, real good burn on them. Hooked up the charger to the battery, it was almost flat. I think that was the problem. Gonna put on some new plug wires, (on order) as I pulled one of them apart and the 2004's are supposed to be weather-proof, not like the 2003's, drop in the XB12 airbox cover per Prof Stack et al, replace bad tail light bulb, etc. Seller sending new rear tire and spares. So when I get it all back together, I should be ready. A few scuff marks on right side plastic, but nothing bad and no frame scuffs. It is LOUD with the Force Header and Pipe, but not as loud as the M2 with the D&D. Shud be a ton of fun. I'm happy despite minor problems not unexpected in a used bike bought sight unseen.

Galen, we all are still waiting for that address to fund your Betty restoration.

Don't make me send Bob over there!

Ray, Thanks! I will try some of the sugestions. Maui is a must that is where the Condo is, and non stop is a must becuase once you get me on a plane you don't want me off until I get to where I am going. Zanix (sp) does wonders! Travel days we can work with. I was going to call a few travel agencies when I got home.

Shotgun, you will have your new toy lookin good real soon I am sure! Oh and I think you may have to send BOB over. Is'nt Galens computer in storage?

Gotta go, work is a real draaaaaag!

Loni, you and Chris need to rent a Road King while you're there (there's a couple places in Lahaina to do this), and ride to the top of Haleakala. bring along warm clothes, it's pretty frigid up there even if it's 85 down below, but the view is worth it. be sure to stop and get a pic next to one of the "Watch for Bikers" signs.

Well I think I got the crankshaft seal repaired. Have not started and ridden the bike yet, but the part is in. I did nic the seal a tiny bit when putting it in. Hopefully it doesn't leak when I test it. Anyways, I am glad I had been reading on here and heard it was a good idea to buy the new style primary chain tensioner, because sure enough it was busted.

Thanks Shotgun for allowing me to borrow your tools for this job, cant wait to see your new ride. I am game for the Feb 15th ride, but also heard that this sunday is a good chance for not having rain. Any body want to ride if it is good weather.

I also received and installed the YODude flyscreen. looks great, now I just need to get some tools in the bag and get it on the bike...lol...

as most of you know my bike is not stored at my house, so I am wondering if anyone know how many pins the 96 S1 lightning has for the ignition? I bought a new Dyna 2000 HD-1 and it has 7 on it. But was reading somewhere that my bike possibly has a 8 pin. Would be great if anyone could save me a 100 mile trip to find out.

Ferris how did you know our plans? HA! But really we are thinking of doing just that. I will take down the name of the place and note it in the tour book. I want to see the waterfalls, and sunsets! I also want to snorkle if we have the time. I love the fish! Lots of pictures to be taken and shared when we return!

Loni

PS Kinda looks like our plans to Cali in April/May will have to be put off for awhile!

Finaly now that I'm looking at the bills, it seems that there is another Galen out there living on my SSN. This is not good. Not at all. Nope.

Loni, there's no shortage of boats in Lahaina that'll take you out snorkeling or SCUBA diving, and i can tell you first hand how bitchin' it is to be underwater and hear the whales as they cruise thru.

btw, when you rent the Road King they will INSIST and DEMAND that you not ride the road to Hana (and maybe even have you sign something to that effect).

screw 'em, do it anyway, take lots of pix, and thank me when you get back.

Galen, you crack me up! where do i send the $20 to??? : )

Does the plug have a square shape with room for 8 wires, but only runs 7,or is it kinda triangular with 4 wires on big side and 3 on smaller?Very early S-2's had the 7 wire tri/shaped plug, later S-2's etc had the squarish/8 hole/7 wire plug. And Dyna makes harnesses that adapt either way.I have had one of each.Hope that helps.
