FB - If you know Jeff Dunham you will understand this next comment.

In the faithful words of Walter: "WE LOVE IT HERE!!!"

I have actually been up there when there was quite a bit more snow up there. I went to the cabin one winter day after a similar snow storm, I could not see over the snow on the side of the road sitting in the car. I figured about four feet deep. Be thankful for global warming.

NUTS, thx for the offer, bro. Might could use your help on Saturday morning getting the Road King out to dry pavement... : D

Carlos, there's a popular story amongst our neighbors (which *may* be a mountain myth, but it's a great story and we've heard it from so many neighbors now that I'm gonna run with it as truth until proven otherwise.)

It seems many years ago, during a particularly brutal winter, one of the folks who lives down below us decided to stash his car up by the Parkway one evening, knowing they were due for a buttload of snow that night, figuring it'd make it easier to get out the next morning.

So the following morning he dons his snowshoes, hikes up the hill to the Parkway, and try as he might he CANNOT find his car.

Pretty perplexed he was, apparently.

Finally, he noticed something poking up out of the snow, bent down to investigate, and realized he was looking at the very tip of his radio antenna.

He was standing on top of his car.

That ever happens whilst me 'n D call this part of the world home, and we'll be booking a one-way flight to Zihuatanejo:

Hope to see you Saturday; the RK's got cabin fever something fierce... : )

Spike, does your brother's trailer have ramp or barndoor (I prefer barndoor). How wide is it? Does it have a side door? Interior light?

He can call me 910 783 5133

Thanks.

Jerry - I hope to be there. How's the snow melting. It should be in the seventies up there by Saturday, but several feet of snow take some time to melt.

Rubberdown - I can not get away until Saturday morning, so I will have to pass for tomorrow night.

I am glad the race is going to be on television. It seems the Buells are ready. I wish them the best.

I still have a hard time getting my mind around the water cooled cutting edge 1125's racing against the 600's. Weird, but what do I know?!

Ought to be a good race! I'll catch up with you another time Carlos. Have a great trip!

I'm racing at VIR March 21-22. 7 races in two days, ought to be fun!

Mike - These 600s can run over 180mph. I wouldn't call them your run of the mill 600 since it can top out over 30mph faster than stock bikes. It's NASCAR way of evening the playing field. It's kind of a Power to Weight limit. A heavily modified 600 (top class supersport) versus a stock (only allowed the factory race ECM and Muffler) 1125 V-2. I would say a stock (except muffler and ecm) 600 would get spanked by an 1125R with the same equipment since the 1125 seems to get through the tight sections as well or better and would have a 20rwhp advantage. The reality is the big four have years of racing development advantage and they are allowed to use it against a bike with a engine displacement advantage but in need of racing development. It should be a competitive and fun race to watch.

Plus it seems that Higbee is developing the heavily modified 1125R Superbike version. A work in progress by today's outcome but it finished the race and he made up six position from the start of the race. They are at least 40rwhp short though and that is what needs to be developed to be competitive in AMA and for that matter WSB. I am hopeful.

I know, I know; hell, I race an supersport R6. Even a stock R6 is pretty much a race bike. I'll hit 150-160+ 'bout every race lap at Roebling and about that at VIR.

It just seems funny, that's all. Kinda like a bully pushing its way around in the little kids pool(I mean c'mon these are just little ole 600,s; you know how tiny those pistons are? JK around, mostly). It was different for me with the XBRR with its air cooled lump and all. I don't really take racing tooo seriously .... unless I'm in the race. Rules are what they are and are sometimes mostly designed to ensure adequate size fields.

I'm pulling for Barnes!!!

Isn't there horsepower restrictions limiting the v-twins? I thought I read that somewhere.

Rubberdown, thx, that movie is one of my all-time favorites, and Zihuatanejo is actually on mine and Denise's radar... : )

Carlos, low 60's up here today, the snow's melting very nicely. The Parkway is still closed in the usual places, but most county roads are in good shape, and I saw a ton of bikes out today.

Ride safe, see you soon. : )

Watching the race and getting ready. The bike is ready and I hope to be off early in the AM (Day Break). I hope to be near the mountain by 10am

Higbee could not keep up with the factory bikes. Ecslick came back strong. Nascar and motorcycles, very interesting. I think it could be cool but race teams need to get with the pitting under yellow and slow down and don't wreck during the yellow. Too funny, its like inviting Larry the Cable Guy to a wine testing event.

'Twas good to break bread with Carlos and Webe tonight, and thx to another good friend - aka NUTS - Carlos is riding a bagger again. : )

Did Carlos have a bike problem?

No...Carlos got a set of bags from NUTS. They've been at Ferris' house for a few weeks now. He was able to put them on today and take the Ventura back set off.

Besides getting the bags, Carlos needed some bike and mountain time. Work has been stressful. I think this will hold him until the end of the month.

'cepting Kristi

Don't you worry...I'm gonna get mine, soon!

I, for one, ain't jealous in the least. : D

Note that that's Bee-you-fort, SC as opposed to Bo-fort, NC

Today was why us people who ride, ride.

I put more miles on Road King in the past two days than I have in the past five months.

And enjoyed every sunny, warm, glorious second of it.

Carlos and Webe are well into NC by now, destination Grifton, full bellies, full tanks, ear-to-ear grins and living large.

Me, too. : D

Denise, you were with me in spirit every mile. Looking so forward to having you back with me in person.

Ride to lean y'all,
Ferris

Hugh - Amanda and I went to Charleston Friday night. I didn't realize it was quite so far, about 300 miles. That picture is from a graveyard on North Meeting St.

Edit: To clarify, the alligator picture is from the N. Meeting St. grave yard. The dead head picture (yes, that really is what they are called,) is from one of the church graveyards downtown, near the market.
