Chris and I are going to Cycle Gear to see Cody tomorrow. Anyone else want to come down? It's from 1-3 pm. Might even come home from work and ride down depending on the weather.

Shotgun, I would love to be there on Sunday but can't make it. I have worked 8 days straight and I think I will need the rest. The Harley really wants to get out but the rider is pooped! We will be there Tuesday with SPLASH 2004 info!

Mike, Kim and kids, looking forward to seeing ya all! Bob and Deb you will be missed. Hugs!

Loni

I can't believe we have so many.

How was the Cody show today?? Full report please.

I worked

Yes, brother Bob, I was indeed out for a ride this morning. A good one too. I rode from Tacoma to Olympia, Aberdean, and to Astoria, Oregon for breakfast at the Pig "n" Pancake. Then to Longview, Morton, Elby, and back home.

The only thing wrong is that I had too much time to think. I hate it when that happens. Here's what I was thinking about.

Bob, we're getting close. Spudman promised some and so did Gootch. Those may be enough to make it. If we need more, I'll let you know.
Got me an autographed Cody Wood photo today at Cyclegear. Spudman was there too with his M2 back working (at least until the next Splash).
Go Code Red!

I wish I had a place to store my bike at my house. I have it stored at my father in laws and it is like a 95 mile round trip out there and back. or else I would say sure. I am working on a place to keep the bike here, but still just working on it. Ya think anyone else is going to show up?

Epiphany: “a sudden, intuitive perception of or insight into reality or the essential meaning of something, often initiated by some simple, commonplace occurrence.”

During my ride yesterday I saw lots of cool stuff and I wish each of you could have been there to share the experiences with me. The last and best is as follows:

I was crawling along in the left lane in heavy traffic on Pacific Ave. in Spanaway and next to me in the right lane was a perfect cliché of a car being piloted by a perfect cliché of a woman.

It was a sparkling clean, bright white late model full size Ford SUV with dark tinted windows, a chrome plated luggage rack on the roof, chrome brush guards on every corner, a chrome plated grill guard over the chrome grill, and those ridiculous chrome plated tube things that run under the doors because the oversize tires mounted on oversize chrome plated aluminum wheels hold the car so high off the ground that a normal person can’t get into the car in only one step, and the drivers window was down so the cigarette smoke emitting from it would foul my air rather than the perfect tan leather interior of the perfect car.

The driver was a slim pretty woman in her early thirties with hair died and frosted from brunette to silver but certainly NOT gray, her makeup was generously and expertly applied and her lipstick matched her fingernails. She was consistently doing something, perhaps shuffling papers, with her right hand and holding both a cigarette and cell phone in her left hand. I watched her smoke and talk hoping that she would either flick the cell phone out the window or stick the cigarette in her ear but apparently years of practice had honed her skills.

I should say that years of practice had honed her dexterity, because she had no skills whatsoever. She was all over her lane, parts of the shoulder, and some of my lane as well. Each time she rolled into my lane I would honk my horn at her and she looked genuinely upset with me. She didn’t seem embarrassed by her lack of skill, just mad that I pointed it out.

I was right in the middle of a mental sentence, wondering “Now, where’s a cop……” when the epiphany struck. All at once the light bulb came on and all mysteries were solved.

It really didn’t matter, and wasn’t ever going to matter where the nearest cop was. This woman is a useful, productive citizen, she's wearing her seatbelt, not speeding and she wasn’t going to get a ticket. In fact, if a cop were nearby I might have been ticketed for disturbing the peace with the constant bleating of my horn.

She’s a nice lady, nicely driving a nice car and I’m a dirty, rude, noisy jerk riding a dirty, rude, noisy motorcycle. Every traffic cop and State Patrolman in western Washington just knows down to the core of his being that I’ve been out recklessly, flagrantly and arrogantly speeding all morning long and the fact that I didn’t get even one ticket is to be taken as an insult to the entire law enforcement community and an affront to his personal masculinity. That I would dare toot my horn at decent, honest, hard working American women while they are trying to get some work done is a crime that should not go unpunished and each and every cop in the district would be only too happy to help. After all, “Protect And Serve” is what they do.

Epiphany: “a sudden, intuitive perception of or insight into reality or the essential meaning of something, often initiated by some simple, commonplace occurrence.”

Ray,
Why not send that to the State Attorney General?
Might give them something to think about.

This was copied from the Washington DOT web site.

I am currently endorsed, how do I get the three-wheeled motorcycle endorsement?

From January 2, 2004 through June 30, 2004, three-wheeled motorcycle operators with a class 3 endorsement or an "R" restriction can have a three-wheeled motorcycle endorsement added to their license without skill testing. Here's how it works:

Go to any Washington driver licensing office with your current driver license and motorcycle endorsement.
Request a three-wheeled motorcycle endorsement.
Let the Licensing Representative know if you already have a two-wheeled motorcycle endorsement and specify if you do or do not want to keep it. If you surrender the two-wheeled motorcycle endorsement you will sign a form stating that you agree to take all the tests and pay all the fees if you ever want to get the 2 wheel endorsement back.
A new license will be issued with an endorsement code that indicates you are legal to operate a two or three-wheeled motorcycle or both. The new endorsement codes are as follows:
Type 3 - two-wheeled motorcycles only
Type 5 - three-wheeled motorcycle only
Type 7 - two and three-wheeled motorcycles

Ray - Super Duper big thanks. Received the software in the mail. I really do appreciate you going out of your way to help me.

Epiphony - now that is some funny stuff! Isn't it funny how much you notice down to the very detail when you are riding..... And then sometimes you notice nothing at all, except the next turn coming up and thinking about the fun one you just came out of. There your are in your helmet all by yourself with nothing but you and your own thoughts. Some of my best and deepest thinking (the soul searching type) is done when I am riding. Nobody else talking to me, no one screaming, no kids crying, just the screaming and crying of the engine! Damn I can't wait to ride.

Bob & Deb- missed you guys this weekend. Cody signed a few autographs at Cycle Gear and got to say hello to Steve, Dave, Loni and Chris. A couple of very cute little girls (13 & 10) with these incredible long legs (they were Irish dancers who competed and won a state competition among others) - anyways he autographed a photo for them and as they walked away - Cody leans over to Nate his teammate and says "now they could be my umbrella girls". I almost died! I said, "Cody what did you say?" he replied, "nothing Mom, I was just talkin' to Nate". Oh my gosh, he is only 8 and already knows a good pair of legs when he sees them. We talked to their parents about racing and Cody seemed very interested in having a few female competitors! LOL -

Chris & Loni- good to have dinner with you guys, sorry Cameron is a little wild these days. So how long does the terrible 2's last anyways! UGGGH - He is killing me!

In need of some solitude!

Kim, sorry to tell you but the terrible 2's can last til they're in their teens for some kids, then you really got your hands full.

Epiphany Day is the 6th of January in the Greek Orthadox calender. My dad grew up in Tarpon Springs Florida and used to line up on the sponge docks with the other boys to dive for the gold cross thrown by the bishop on Epiphany. Whichever boy found the cross got a blessing from the bishop that gave his family good luck for a year.

Shotgun- I need to get me one of them there gold crosses. We got home last night and our furnace ingnitor had gone out and wouldn't you know it was late and of course everything was closed. So today Mike leaves for Bend to work all week (yeah work) and I am dealing with the heater, seems like things always work that way. For Mike it never fails if I leave then Cameron messes his pants super bad (not that he doesn't change diapers anyway) -you get the picture. Anyway, after a frustrating morning, got the part and the house is getting warmed up again. Fingers are cold, can't type any longer.....

back to work!

Kim, We also enjoyed dinner Sat night. And I enjoyed Cameron and Cody! The terrible 2's like Shotgun said can last until the teens, and I will add adulthood. At least when they reach that great age of 18 you can open the front door and boot them out!: ) But we had a good time visiting and catching up on all the news.

We missed you Bob and Deb!

Ray you crack me up! Duane say hello to Lisa!
