Well, the race muffler is on and sounds great. Now, if the weather would cooperate I could take it for a ride.

Maybe next week end. Thanks Frank

Yep, last week was nice. I got out a little on Saturday to test the hippo hands on the Uly. I think I also solved the leaking fuel issue which was caused by me.

I had big plans to clean up the garage and did make some progress but not as much as I wanted to. I found a box of Sportster parts from a early 90s sporty, Shocks, turn signals, mirrors, back rest, horn, fender, and some other stuff. I may put the stuff up on the for sale section unless someone in Colorado needs some sporty parts.

Most of Sunday was on the couch watching TV, watching the snow and doing research.

BTW: Julie, I like that sand blaster setup Dan is using. Is that a commercial system or home made?

It's a commercial system. He got it from The Eastwood Company. He used to have an actual cabinet set up for sand blasting but he got rid of it cause it was too big for the shop.

So, what we're you doing that caused the fuel leak?

I am familiar with Eastwood and have seen that setup in their catalog, thanks for the info.

The Uly was dripping gas via the overflow hose no matter how much gas was in it. It turned out to be the gas tank vent hose from the pressure valve that was pinched between the outer and inner airbox cover. At least it has done done it in the last 20 miles. I will know more when the weather breaks and I can ride to work again.

Frank

Hey Folks, does anyone want to go snowboarding or snowmobiling? I'd love to go but don't really want to go by myself.

Well it looks like I will be going to the big show today...with my 12 year old daughter (Shelby) and Troyyz. I'll be there around 10:30, but will have to leave by 1:30 to get my daughter to her basketball game.

It's a beautiful day today. Dan and I will be heading out for a ride. Must try out the new racing muffler, CAN'T WAIT. It sounds great in the garage.

Julie,
If its too loud for ya, wear some earplugs. I rode a xb12r with a race on it for about 80 miles and by the end of the ride, it was too much for me. Ear plugs will help. Did Dan put in the race ecm to go with it. It helps a lot with its performance.

Hi John
No, we don't have the race ecm in. It did run quite well tho. Definitely louder than stock and yea, I may have to wear some ear plugs but it sure did sound sweet. did about 100 miles today and it wasn't too bad sound wise. Had great pick up and went to 6K rpm's w/NO problem.

Thanks again Frank. I know I'm going to enjoy this.

Nice taking to you Jody. Hope you got home OK and I'll keep in touch about the track day in March. I will most likely do it just to try out another track and get more experience. Dan doesn't want to do it but he'll go with me. Now I just need to find a "track only" bike.

Made it back home safely. I stopped by to visit Frank and Lynn before coming back to Canon. My route today took me up High Park Road to Cripple Creek. From there I continued North on Highway 67 to Divide, and then down to the Springs. Lots of sand and gravel near Cripple Creek so be careful if you plan to go near there any time soon.

Hey John, well, I did it. Just purchased a race ecm from another Bueller back East. Dan tells me the bike should have a bit more "get up and go"

What do you think????? Do I really need this.....yea, why not!!!

YES YOU DO!! It is mapped for that muffler and will make it run better especially on the top end. I have ridden 12's with both stock and race ecm's with the race muffler and now you got the winning combo. Congrats!

Julie,

I agree with John...a Race ECM should be used with a Race pipe. Although with the modern marvels of ECM Spy, you can reprogram a stock ECM with the fuel maps of the Race ECM. If you are still not sure...I have a spare Race ECM that I am not using at the moment that you could borrow for a short time to evaluate the differences.

Thanks guys. The guy I bought the race ecm from will be mailing it out tomorrow. Hopefully I'll have it by the weekend. Next Sat is suppose to be nice so if we get it, Dan is planning on putting it on and will definitely get it out on the road.

And thank you, Steve, for the offer.

Was just viewing a video from High Plains Raceway, the guy was driving a ZO6 corvette around the track. It looks nice. Am hopefully going to do the MRA track class in March at High Plains. It's a bit costly, up $50 from last year but it may be worth it just to get on this track (and get more experience too).

Julie, Just a reminder for Dan when he installs the ecm. He needs to reset the TPS on your bike when installing the race ecm.
Have fun.

Julie, I am glad you like that exhaust. I am sure Dan will have it dialed in soon.

After a conversation with J2Blue I was thinking we might want to start planning some summer activities in addition to rides.

Julie mentioned a BBQ and I was also thinking about a Oil Change day, Suspension setup day or maybe even a ECMSpy learning session. I can offer my house up for a Oil Change day but I know squat about ECMSpy and Suspension setup but think maybe someone here does. Something to think about. It does not matter where you are in Colorado just chime in and tell us what you think or what ideas you have.

Any ideas for rides would be great as well. Lynn and I like to get away for some overnighters and are thinking about Gateway Colorado but I have no idea when we will be able to do it. The only two events I have planned right now is the S2 Gathering and Homecoming but Homecoming dates have not been set yet.

I installed a Pro-series race pipe on my '07 Uly and we dyno tuned it. The same guys that tune our race bikes including the Pikes Peak XB12. Bottom line, you remove the gated exhaust, you get rid of the flat torque curve - no matter which pipe you use. You can get some more peak ponies, or remove some heat from the cylinders, or get rid of any stumbles, and you get a nice throaty sound - but you can count on street rideability issues. Buell and the engineers did a great tune job with the Hemholtz chamber and tuned exhaust. Mid-range is almost always compromised, and that is where most street riders live.

I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

Well, the race ecm is in and TPS and AFV reset. It sounds great.

The plan is as soon as we get home tomorrow from work I'll take it out for a spin.

Sounds great Julie. I think I might try and head up to HCHD on Saturday in order to pickup the new Buell swag. Let us know how the race pipe and ecm work out. Keep it under 120mph.

got home a bit too late to take her out tonite. Need it to be a bit lighter out so I can see the road better (so can go faster).

Frank, my goal is to hit 120mph at least once and then I won't have to ever do it again..???? and if you're in the area give us a call.

We'll most likely be going out for a ride on Sat. Dan's just finishing up doing his oil change and will be installing a new muffler that he has customized. It's downstairs drying after he painted it.

Yesterday was my Sunday, finally made it into the hills.
Lyons to Allenspark to Estes to Loveland and home.
Temps were VERY nice, especially for February.. 72 when I left Lyons down to 46 between Allenspark and Estes.
Roads were pretty good, some sand up top and a few wet spots.
No ice on the road.

Back down on "The Flats", almost home.

So happy the weather coincided with my days off!

Frank - see you and Lynn Saturday?
You get your engine miss sussed out?

Zac, as of right now that is the plan so I will see you tomorrow.

The 98 S1W is running like crap and I did not mess with it after my ride yesterday. I will try and get it sorted out in a couple of weeks. I will be on the road next week so I will not mess with it until I return.
