Scott,
When Sam and I intitially started talking about going to Colorado we were discussing Early Sept. Don't know much about the weather out there. I do know that there was snow above 10,000 ft when I was in the Tetons on July 4th one year.

I lived in Central part on Colorado years ago... At about 8K ft. elevation. And as I remember it the Aspens are in full fall colors 2-3rd week in Sept. Yes at 10-12K ft. you can get snow, but you can get snow at those elevations all summer long.

Usually the passes are the only areas above the 10-11K ft (tundra) tree line. If you are talking about Durango or the four corners it should be alittle warmer weather due to the SW fronts that flow thru the area.

I would advise to pack a variety of clothing and not ride after dark, due to wild life. Also watch areas in the rode that never see much direct sun for black ice...

If I can swing the time off I would definitely be up for it!!

Hey...Glad to see you guys are lightening up a bit...Seems to be a bad case of PMS in the KC area (Parked Motorcycle Syndrome)...Remember this is supposed to be FUN!!!...

Also, a bit of advice someone else told me regarding these computer boards...Sometimes someone will post something that they either don't understand how it will affect others or they really do mean to "start something"...His advice to me was to immediately take any action or response off the group board...Good advice...

Regarding Colorado and September...It's one of the most beautiful months of the year but be prepared to change your ride to suit the weather...Some of the neatest roads are at elevation, Rocky Mountain National Park's Trail Ridge Road for instance, and I've seen several inches of the white stuff up there in September but it also might be seventy degrees...Hell, if you ride Colorado in June, July and August, electrics are real nice to have...Have fun!!!

COLORADO!!!

Count me in!!

My wife is even excited (just because she will go on to visit her mom on the western slope).

By the way, Telluride and Ouray is were I grew up, and if your into real challenging roads with tons of twisties-----This is it, the real deal!! And if thats not enough for the STUDS of the group, you can ride a little longer south through Ouray to Red Mountain pass, stop at the Box Canyon on the way, make your way into the Silverton area, (another nice town to visit), then make your way to Durango.

In my Jap days as a teenager we would ride until at least October in this area. Mainly due to this area is considered a DRY climate.

Durango sounds cool as well, there is a very good sretch of twisties and elevations to keep all busy. And there's no satellite dishes on the corners. hehehe

In other words I am ready any time!!

Bob,
Do you think we might be able to persuade you and John into joining us if we make this trip or something similiar this year? Its always nice to have you around to keep us somewhat under control and John to keep us guessing as to what his next move might be! :)

Gravedigger where did you see this Buell ride in Colorado? I have not seen any thing on it. I think I'd be interested. S2Scott. How about you and the Misses? You think you guys will be able to join us on any thing this year? Who wants to go to the Chicago Bike show with Bob and Company?

It looks like we will leave EARLY Saturday morning for Chicago, go to the show, dinner and get drunk at the motel (imagine that!) and then bus back to STL Sunday morning so you guys could drive back to KC Sunday afternoon/evening...Bus is about $50...Motel $40 ea for two in a double (how about Richie and Dennis as roomies?)...Show is $15...Plus meals and, of course, any eye candy that you fancy...If you guys want to come in Friday night John has a empty stall or two in his barn with fresh hay, of course...Well, we'll put you up somewhere...The Windy City show is supposed to be much bigger than the one in STL...As of right now we only have four going so we'll either car up or if we add more we'll rent an extended van...I just don't see enough interest as of now to do the bus thing...Of course a van and car would be less expensive but you can't party like you can on a bus...

See Ya!

Bob

Keith...The next time I do a big trip west I am fixated on riding the Bear Tooth Pass...It's supposed to be the best road in North America...John and I have looked at trying to combine it with CO and it just doesn't work given the time most of us have...But thanks for asking...I'm sure we'll get down to AR again this Spring and we'll let you guys know when we're planning...You can't believe the smell of all the honeysuckle in AR in May...

See Ya!

Bill,
It is supposed to be in the new Fuell magazine. I have not personally seen the article but this years trips were being discussed on this site in the Quick Board. Daves posted the dates for all of Buells intended trips this year in the Quick Board under "The Reas of the Brag trips for 04" Check it out! <IMG SRC=">

Bob,
Sorry can't do the trip to Chicgo for the bike show. Got to save every dime right now for the trips I am taking March 28th to STL, Apr 17th to Q-town, Apr 19 to the Carribean, and MAy 15th to KC. Figured out what these trips are all about yet?

Frank,
You chained up in the basement again?? haven't heard much from you for awhile?? I am Allready coming to KC for one funeral on May 15th. Should I put money in the budget for attendance to another this year?

Dennis,
Do you think you can actually make a trip with us this year?

Hey all,
Could you imagine what would happen if John(V2WIN) and Dennis made the same trip! It would almost be as dangerous as setting a bottle of BODKA between Sam, Jason and I on one of these trips!! ;)

Keith

Digger...

I hope to... but I will have to see on a trip by trip basis. Work is always unpredictable... and they have the attitude like it is military service... mission first... personal life and family second... except for supervisors and above... then it is family first. They tried to cancel my day of leave today which I took to help my elderly mother with serious heart related medical issues. When she had her heart attack several years ago... they called me at the ICU and asked if I was gonna be at work the next day... even though they knew she was admitted to ICU that day! A very f@*ked up place to work. The pay and benefits are very good... but they basically own me and my co-workers... able to cancel leave and call us in 24/7 and not having to pay overtime. On a whim! But the supervisory personnel can chose their response beyond 8:30 to 5:00... M-F. ...or the time I got pneumonia ON THE JOB... working 22 days straight 12-14 hours a day... then was harassed about the time I took off work. I ended up nearly dieing (it aggravated a lung disease I did not know I had)... missed 8 weeks work... and it took a full year to recover... and my doctor was about to go to my office and kick ass! I told her it would make things worse it she visited my bosses. I am counting the days until I can retire (475 days) and then get into some kind of work I enjoy. I could rant about that place for hours. I hate that place as much if not more than the "clientele" that passes through the system!

Then there is the financial thing... I am no better than last year... just I am now in a house... and my number one focus needs to be eliminate debt so I can retire. So... short trips might be doable... but longer ones will really be a stretch. ...and I hate that!

My Buell is my stress relief... and I have very little tolerance for "things" that add stress to this part of my life... and do not understand the thought process of those that strive to add stress to others... I guess they relieve their misery... by inflicting it on others. I also have a supervisor that is like that... and EVERYONE HATES HER... and was disappointed when she changed her mind about retiring in December. She was quoted to say "I decided to stay so I can make as many people as possible miserable." A direct quote... and no humor intended in the comment. SO... I have very little tolerance for ANYONE who can't treat others the way they want to be treated!!! At time I get militant about it... hoping to get through to them... but I should realize... people like that don't give a f@*k about anyone but them self. But I have this glimmer of hope... I can get through... thus making things better for everyone... including them! I will be the first to say I am an idiot for doing so... and it makes me hate people in general more as I grow older! I admit dealing with sociopaths, baby killers, murders, serial killers and a variety of anti-social "clients" over the past 27 years has not been a positive impact on how I look at society in general... add to it the "It's all about me" society of today... and it doesn't help!

I have also had the attitude that anyone has the right to hate my guts for any reason... including the profession I have chosen, or how contact with my profession even when it was not me has made them hate any cop ... and I really have no problem with that... HOWEVER... when that is acted upon... STAND BACK! My disarming tolerance disappears! I may come off like apathetic less than focused individual professionally, a buffoon to outsiders... but that is sooooo far from an accurate depiction. Privately I will share some of my experiences.

Now that I have gone off on a rant... you or Sam or Jason... will not be fighting over MY BODKA... want to see dangerous... set me at that table!!!

I took the firebolt out for a spin last night, probably won't be happening again for a while.....my misery knows no bounds!

If none of you have ever seen a 1000ft skidmark, I can show you a real neat one on 435.

P.S. One more thing and Dennis will go away... and a more pleasant personality will emerge. As most of you really have not seen Dennis except for today.

Yesterday at the office I watched a video of a man having his head cut off... his head was held down by a booted foot... and that man proceeded to cut off the head with a bowie knife while the victim was alive, alert and conscious... the sound track was undescribable. This was done as calmly as someone cutting open a package of hotdogs, and did not take much longer.

Another personality will now emerge!

Sam...

What up... I did that once about 30 years ago when an engine seized, not a fun ride... PLEASE don't tell me you seized the Bolt!!!

Das,

Maybe you should retire now... sounds like you may not make it another 475 days...

With all those personalities you could probably start a career in Hollywood just playing a Federal LE Officer!

Gravedigger, If you wouldn't mind a tag-along, I would be up for the Colorado trip. I was already thinking of going it alone.....Didn't think anybody else would go. Mid September isn't too bad in Co. unless you get up in elevation. I'm from Pueblo. Please keep me posted and I will put in for vacation. ironken2001@yahoo.com

Dennis is starting to sound more and more like a postal worker than a federal marshall!
HMMMMMM kinda makes ya sit back and think a bit. postal workers have to sneak thier guns into work to perpetrate thier carnage. Federal Marshall carry guns with them at all times. Sounds like a pretty dangerous office environment to me.

Keith

p.s. Dennis, If you make a trip with us this year, I'll supply the HOMEMADE bloody mary mix and BODKA for the evenings festivities.

Ken,
Thats why we are discussing it here. We want to see what kind of interest there is in this trip.

So far looks like there are several people interested in this trip. Interest has been shown by Myself, Sam, Thunder, S1 lightning, KcBill, V2Win and you. I'd say 7 people being interested in some sort of Colorado trip is great! Xben9r will probably be interested also. Feel free to give your input as this discussion continues that why we brought it up here.
