Since I am a Buell enthusiast in the California Bay Area, I have the pleasure and priveledge of rubbing shoulders with the best Buell companions available. I refer to the folks at the American Sport BikeN meetings. I don't know where I'd go to find better people.

But, I would like to see just how many of us there are in the Bay Area and even Northern Cali who are Buell enthusiasts, but are yet unknown. And if some who don't post online would post if they knew they could run into a group of enthusiasts as opposed to bashers.

If you're already on this site, please check in here in this thread. If you know of any Buellers who maybe don't get online or don't come out to American Sport BikeN, please indicate that too. Just real curious.

So what's up, home boy?! Post!

I’m in Pittsburg, seen a couple of Buells out here, but unable to firm things up. I have a Harley friend willing to go riding any time that lives in Novato. Also met someone at the American Sportbike Night that lives in Suisun, Dana. Been on a couple of rides with him also. Call me at work, 415-503-4879. I ride to the City every day. Maybe we can hook up on Saturday’s.

I'm in San Carlos (on the Peninsula) and also don't see many Buell's around here either. In fact I've only ridden with one other Buell rider, only once, and that was almost a year ago!

I'm not a big fan of riding in the dark, on congested highways like 880 and 92/the San Mateo Bridge, but if it's not raining on December 1st, I plan on attending the American Sport Bike meet.

It would be nice to meet some other like minded folks! (or like biked folks anyway)<IMG SRC=">

Stringbean:
I usually go, if it is not raining. I usually leave from the City around 5:00 and go directly there. We could meet up some where along 101 if you want. I know Oconner wanted to go also and was looking to ride over with someone. Send me an Email.

Kaese:

WOW, 5 O'Clock?? How long does it take you to get there??? Or do you do it to beat traffic/get a good seat?

I like the 101 to the San Mateo Bridge route, because the SM bridge tends to be faster than the others (like the Bay Bridge) and drops me off very near Washington Ave and 880.

If that's what you meant by "somewhere along 101" then I'd be happy to meet up for the ride, otherwise I fear I'd just be adding several unnecessary miles to my (fairly simple) trip. I'm also supposed to meet another Buell rider on the other side.

Either way, if it's not rianing, I'll see you there!

As it happens, that is how my schedule works out. It is only 45 minutes during the commute traffic. It is not a whole lot of fun grinding my way home and having to turn around and blasting back to San Leandro. I don’t mind getting there early to BS and check out everyone’s bike. As a rule I don’t plan anything before American Sport Bike. If we can meet and ride over, that would be great.

Kaese:

What route were you going to take to get there?

I'm (if I go) planning to meet someone on the east side of the SM bridge, and ride with them to the spot. Maybe we could make it a group......

5/5:30 sounds fine.

Oconner, we can meet up, then meet up with StringBean. Do the group thing.

My bike is getting its TPS reset and should be done now. I am going during lunch to pick it up in a few minutes.

Kaese are you riding to work tomorrow? I have a break from school from 1100 to 1pm. Thought maybe I could shoot by and introduce myself, and check out the ride...

Come on by. I ride most every day, except when it rains. I'm across from Dudley Perkins show room on Van Ness, between Tap Plastics and Smart and Final. It'll be on the sidewalk. Just come into the building and ask for me. I have been known to buzz up to Twin Peaks at lunch.

You ever had any trouble with parking on the sidewalk in the city?? I hear they're thinking about jacking the ticket up to $100.00 for sidewalk parking violations.

You going to the rally this Friday?

Yes, I have. They are already $75.00. I received 2 within 2 weeks. (been on the sidewalk for about 3 1/2 years) This was last spring. I protested them. Still waiting on the court date.

I was plaining on going there and making some noise. I do run errands occasionally and wish I could park on the sidewalk legally.

Jon wrote [QUOTE] "And if some who don't post online would post if they knew they could run into a group of enthusiasts as opposed to bashers".

Just curious, Jon.... Do you/have you a problem with "bashers" when you meet folks???

I'll admit that I'm occasionally the butt of a Buell joke now and again, but for the most part (regardless of the group) I've only met really nice people when riding.

I am looking forward to meeting the American Sport Bike folks though...... If it doesn't rain that is.

Oconner and I happened to go to the Rally last Friday. 250-300 fellow riders parked on the sidewalk across from City Hall. Let the bureaucracy know our opinions. Our point was, we wouldn't be parking on the sidewalk if there were legal spaces for bikes. In addition, other major cities welcome motorcyclists because it reduces congestion!

Hmmmmmmmmm... Maybe those were your Buells I saw on another forum (a white one next to a blue one??).

I wanted to go, but I've got school on Friday. From what I saw, it looked like a pretty good turnout though!

On another note......... It's supposed to rain on Friday, Saturday AND Sunday, so I'm not sure what's going to happen for the American Sport Bike meet/group ride.

For me, rain = no motorcycles get taken out of my garage.

What other thread were you referring too? Oconner has a white and I, a blue. The only news channel that was there was Channel 5. Wasn't able to catch there broadcast though. We did park in a very visible place.

As for the weather, in a previous life I was a flight weather forecaster. Spent 13.5 years doing it. It was a enjoyable occupation except for the shift hours. Too bad one can't make any $$ at it in the Bay Area.

One thing that one must keep in mind regarding weather forecasts, is the farther in the future especially past 72 hours, the less reliable it is. I can't quote you exact numbers, but well below 50%.

Precipitation is classified by rain and rain showers. Showers are start and stop suddenly. Rain is continuous precipitation. When showers are forecasted, they use percentages of any precipitation falling on a specific location during that time period.

Anyway, my take on the forecast for the weekend around here is:

Thursday will be the warmest and best day. I am planning to ride in the morning before pigging out.

I believe the precip will be in the form of showers, mainly overnight Thursday. (I'm thankful the wind flow is coming from the south warming up our temperatures more conducive to riding).

Saturday, Sunday and Monday I'll look at it thoroughly today. I want to get in some riding.

Sorry this is kind of long, but this is where I found the photos of the bikes.. Bayarearidersforum.com (in the photo section).

Speaking of Buell rides... I'll be taking one tomorrow morning myslef! A friend (and poss. some of his friends) are planning an east bay hills Buell ride tomorrow morning. I'm to meet him at his shop on Clawiter Rd in Hayward, at 10 AM tomorrow. You should come!!
