It's been a wild one! After not wanting to, not going to be able to, all the way to they're coming! The boys will be with us this year. Only thing is not much notice to have ready what they need. We need to borrow a tent and two sleeping bags for my two sons. If there's someone coming that can help us out, we sure would appreciate it! | ||

I'll bet we can find gas. It may just add to the adventure. Beer run Munchie run Gas run All we have to do is make sure to fill it when we can, and have some on hand. With the 3%ers carrying gas cans, and a few of the others, I'm pretty sure we can make do. Oh those poor leaf watchers... | ||

Oh those poor leaf watchers... Maybe the leaf watchers will decide not to chance it with the gas situation and stay home. We plan to bring a gas can or two with us as well. Gotta have gas for the 50! | ||

Can I get some clarification on one thing...I just called T.W.O. to get some info about camping arrangements and the guy said that the only event going on there this weekend is the KTM demo ride. I said that also there is a group of Buell riders meeting there, and he was like, "Oh, yeah. Not here, though. They're somewhere else." Did I miss something? | ||

No, you didn't miss anything. This is a non-sponsored event. We are all on our own, only using T.W.O. as a main gathering point, nothing more. | ||

I just called TWO as well and talked to them about the gas situation. He said everything south of TWO was spotty and cleaned out really fast. Everywhere north of TWO had Gas. Looks like I will be coming in from the North. Oh yeah, he said what was "Dales" was out of Gas. | ||

So WTF do we do if we're riding up from south of TWO? Especially late at night? I'll be hitting Atlanta at about 1900, so if I don't get gas there I'm screwed unless there's something along 19 toward Dahlonega. There's no way I'm heading all the way up there to run out of gas halfway up Highway 60 at 9:00 at night... | ||

(Cross post) The Bad: Many, many, many things have conspired to make this trip a wash for me.... The Good: For less than half the price of the GA trip, I can spend Saturday at JenningsGP getting in some track time. You guys have fun up there and be safe. I'll try and catch you next March!! | ||

Speaking of Dale's ... it isn't Dale's anymore. Dale spent several weeks away from his business due to health problems. His landlord took that opportunity to boot him and and install the landlord's son there instead. Now, not only is it run by scum, but it's run by motorcycle-hostile scum. Last weekend the new proprietor called the sheriff when he saw a motorcycle with its tire touching the line of the handicapped parking space! Dale was a great friend to bikers in general and many people in particular for years, and we're all really angry about this. I know we probably can't avoid buying gas there (if there is any), but I hope you'll all join us locals in boycotting any other purchases there. Gas stations make little or no profit on fuel, so please support the local motorcyclists by not buying anything else there. | ||

Is the main gathering point TWO? Yes. The guy's site says camping reservations are not needed. Is it safe not to get any? Don't know, haven't camped there, but I don't think anyone has ever had a problem finding a place to park a tent. It's open space, not assigned camp spots like a KOA. Last, is there anywhere to get beer in the area? TWO is in a dry county, so you'll need to bring in what you want or find someone is making a beer run and put in an order. Twig got to T.W.O in Suches around 3pm today. As of today, Dale's has no gasoline. Mike found premium in Blairsville, about 20 miles north of Suches. |
