I spent 24 of the last 48 hours on a bike, and I rode a total of 2508 miles since Thursday. I spent Thursday night in Fayettville, AR. I got up the next morning and rode a pretty decent 130 mile loop down to I-40 on 16 and 23 and back on 71. I found my first curves of the trip on highway 23. After arriving back where I started, I took a "scenic" route back into Oklahoma. There isn't much scenery to be seen, but it was better than the interstate. I spent the night in Tulsa with my best friend from high school, drank my face off, and rode on to my parents' house in Perry on Saturday. Jim's Magnolia Blossom, aka Maggie: Dad: Mom and Floyd the cat: Saturday night I went out to the local bar (there is only one bar in Perry) and saw a bunch of people I hadn't seen since high school. Sunday I had lunch at my all time favorite fast food restaurant. It's a shame they don't have them here: I set out Monday morning about 9:00 AM with the intention of stopping in Louisville, KY. As it turns out, the Ryder Cup is this week, though, and every hotel in the area was either booked or running double rates. I finally found a place in Frankfort, KY at 1:00 AM Tuesday morning that was less of a ripoff than the rest. I paid $92.43 for part of one freaking night and then set off in the morning about 9 again. I rode to Hazel Green, KY to see the little town where my great grandparents lived and died. I hadn't been there since I was 10, so I didn't really remember much of it. I stopped at the cemetery to find their headstone. The cemetery was peaceful, with a nice view. The KY mountains have some really incredible roads. Many of them are only one lane: After 120 miles of windy roads and nearly being mowed down by a school bus in the wrong lane, I got back on the interstate to head home. I took one last picture. Someone really needs to fire their proof reader: I got back home last night around 9:30, picked up Corsa from my neighbor, and went the heck to bed.
