I'm also having a hard time accepting that Colin is a senior this year, and Cody an 8th grader as well. Time sure DOES fly. Happy belated B-day Dan! Bambi...it's good to see you back on the board. He called up today fishing for info, after he gets my name by saying he "might know me" he then tells me who he is. If this dude comes on my land for any reason I am not sure I wont shoot him. Should I file a police report?? I dont know his name, only what he drives so how do I even file a report?? What is your involvement (software, hardware, etc.) How did you get into the field (I found that the robotics field was very hard to get into when I graduated in 02). My quick background: I graduated in 02 with a BS in EE from Southern Tech. I am currently working on a MS in Software engineering at UAH here in Huntsville. The only thing that I wanted to do after graduation was to get into robotics. But that was in 02, when the job market was VERY slow. By the time my current position came around, I had to jump on it. I am working in the one industry that I swore I would NEVER get involved in.. Telecom. I create/maintain test hardware/software for all of our DSLAM (Digital Subscriber Line Access Module) products. We use C++ for our applications in a windows environment. I have had a little exposure to embeded stuff. And just installed Linux on my home PC so I can learn that OS. Charlie, I am not sure if his actions up to this point would excite/interest the police... unfortunately. I think you can still write up a report and have it put on file. That way if he does do anything, you will have that documentation on file. The best advice that I could give you would be to follow the letter of the law when it comes to dealing with this guy. If he ends up on your front doorstep, and you are forced into a combative situation, you could have the law on your side as long as you have not "bent" the law when dealing with him in the past. I would keep track of when, where, and how he contacts you. Write down all that you can recall from your first encounter. Also, if anything DOES go down.. be the first one on the phone to the police. The first story that is given to the police, is usually the one most likely believed. New12...you should definately call the cops and document the actions of this freak. I'm not being a hysterical female, but let's look a little at the mental state of this guy. Coming from a long line of psychopaths, sociopaths, wife-beaters, stalkers, child abusers and general dirt bags, I speak from experience. (Yes, I am the one related to someone who beat a guy all the way down his street and then pulled a Mike Tyson and bit off a portion of his ear to spit back at him, and whose mom had to use her single wide in Sharpsburg as collateral to get him out of jail. Just let me know if you'd like to hear my other qualifications sometime. Oi!) When he jumped out of the car at you a couple of months ago, WITH HIS CHILDREN IN THE CAR, he obviously had no regard for his safety or theirs. He didn't know if you might just pull out a gun a blow him away and his kids. 2 months has gone by. 2 months! And he takes it upon himself to track down your place of employment and contact you there? This is still stuck in his craw after all this time? Who in their right mind does THAT? How did he find out where you work? Did he follow you one day? Does he know where you live? Is he stalking you guys so he knows all your comings and goings? Again, I'm not being a hysterical, paranoid female, but this is just too creepy. I think at the very least, you should fill out a report and have it on file - everytime he contacts you - everytime you see him near your property. Hell, even if he just drives through the parking lot at your work, I'd report it. That way, if it does come to you having to defend you or yours (and I PRAY it does not), it is well documented. Like Phil said, you'd be surprised the penalty for that whole terroristic threat thing. And you have added layers for road rage and stalking. For some reason in this state, those things along with cable theft carry stiffer penalties than murder, rape and child abuse, but that's another thread. Anyway, please do call the cops. If not, the shop owner can request records from the phone company. Unless his number is unlisted, they'll have to cough it up. Start now if you want to pursue that, because it might be a lengthy process. If the guy knows where you work, it's a good bet he followed you there. If he followed you to work, you should also assume he's followed you home. He probably just sat in a parking lot where he could see the intersection where the altercation happened and waited for you to ride by. You might consider doing the same in order to get his license plate if you remember clearly what the car looked like. What did he say on the phone, anyway? Did he threaten you? Call the police and get all this on record prior to anything blowing up. I am really having to adjust my riding style to the instant smooth feedback and torque that pulls my head back. With the exception of the lack of rear brake I could not be happier!
