Well... as I have just found out, I guess we want some wither we need them or not!!! As a result, I have contacted several patch embroiderers and am soliciting quotations.
It looks like we will need to get a minimum of 50 patches. I don't have a problem with ponying up the dough to get the order going, but if the prices come back where I think they will, any one PRE-PAYING will get 2 (maybe 3) Patches for $10.00 everyone who pays once they get in, will get 1 for $10.00.
Is everyone ok with that idea?
This is the design I have submitted:
It looks like, they will be 50% embroidered (the cat and the trim) on gold twill.
If anything changes, I'll post up here. |

I like it you may want to check on a larger volume might have a slight price break, but count me in and let me know what you need. I take it you got the info from Kristi. Just a note a 100% embroidered patch would look better, better quality. check out the NEBO patch IMO (just a thought)
do get a stitch out for approval before finalizing anything

Ok... First quote is in:
50 Patches at 1.96 each is $98.00 for (75% embroidered) which means that if we go with this vendor, anyone prepaying would get 3 patches. There would be enough patches to do this unless we got exceeded 16 people prepaying (highly unlikely) but in the case that more then 10 people want to prepay, the amount per person would come down to a point where we pay for the order evenly.
Any left over patches will be made available to Noobies or non HRH riders looking for Swag at $10.00 each (or fair trade)What do you guys think?
I should have the rest of the quotes in by Monday.. if any are better then this then we'll recalculate at the price point given. |

Oh yeah, the only issue with a stitch-out is that if they do it and we decide not to go with that vendor then there is usually a penalty of somewhere around $50.00. So, we'll pick the best offer and then ask for the sample. |

Well...once we pick the vendor and get the finalized design back then we'll arrange for payment.
Man Goody... I've got to see this "Eye of Thunder" patch you keep talking about. You going to be out this afternoon? I'll ride by.
Wait...it's Friday afternoon and the sun is out... I'm not riding North on 17! what am I crazy?

WOW... 2nd Quote just came in... compared to the first, these guys are crazy!!!
Get this.... $95.00 Setup Fee, $5.50 per Patch, no minimum order quantity.
The only good thing about this one is, that if we wanted Jackets, Hats or Shirts, (heck even bags!) once we pay the setup fee, we can buy the other items and have the logo put on them. We of course would be required to purchase the garment of choice from them as well and then pay the $5.50 per piece to have the logo added.
Geez!

Ok.... 3rd and final is in. (These are the folks who have done NEBO and C3's Patches:

Backing: PVC is standard add .10 per patch for heat seal. Heat seal is used at your own risk. If heat seal is used we advise that you test material for suitability.

50 $3.10 PER PATCH, add 20% for metallic thread (155.00 ~ 186.00)
100 2.30, add 20% for metallic thread
(230.00 ~ 276.00)
Delivery: We ship in approximately 4 weeks from time of date of order confirmation, and receipt of deposit and clear art. Rush service available. Add 25% for shipment in 3 weeks, 50% for shipment in 2 weeks. Shipping from Southern California to you is at your expense. We normally ship by UPS Ground or 3 day, depending on state location. So if we each (based on 10 folks)put up $15.00 that should get us into the game. 15 x 3 = 45 so we could split 3 patches between up to 15 folks who prepay. The remaining would then be sold for 10.00 each to the late comers.
I'll leave the selection process up to the community via vote.
1st is 75% embroidered $10.00 each prepay gets you 3 patches.
2nd is 100% embroidered $18.00 each prepay gets you 1 patch. (but future options at $5.50 each)
3rd is 100% embroidered $15.00 each prepay gets you 3 patches.

With C3 they optioned between 100, 200 and 300. I know they are larger but I feel having only 3 patches we will be wanting more in a short period of time and it gives you patches to trade with other buellers. Also in bulk you will get a better cost per patch with a slightly more total cost. quantity equates economy when it comes to custom work
3" is a really small patch I go no smaller than 3.5" but would prefer 4". Also what Kristi is doing at C3 is issuing all the patches out equally to those who paid for the patches to be made. Then it is up to each individual on what they want to do with the extras. I'm getting like 13 or 18 patches for $32.00. i will be trading off when the chance arrives
Well I'd say that the 15 patch wins by majority vote. Thanks for responding so quickly.
So $23.85 + 7.00 for shipping (entire batch to me and then 15 to you) = $30.85

Looking back through the size voting thread those who responded the majority agreed on 3.50" 100% embroidered. Like you said this seems to have lost it's steam. I say get a refined cost post up number of patch options and costs and pull the trigger on this, |

Yeah, I asked the lady who put my Buell patch on my Jacket up at the Bike Fest... She said send her the picture and she'll give me a price.

I checked locally and she noticed that the panther looked like it was down loaded from a copyrighted image.and some changes very slight would be necessary to use our current design. the price for the 3.50" patches are $3.74 a patch for a order off 100 patches and $5.90 a patch for a order of 50 patches, with heat seal, she advised against the metallic thread because it breaks easy and may fray with abrasion.
I am ready to pull the trigger on the 100 patch order and just need to find out who is interested so i can give a total cost out and patch count. all the patches will be dived equally between and participating Buellers. At last count it looks like there was 9 people committed to patches which would net 11 patches per person for $41.14 at $3.74 a patch. |

Wow...you make it sound oh so easy!!! What kind of changes? The lady I contacted last night just asked for information about the copyright stuff too.
If they'll do it... count me in, but I can't see a need for more then 5 patches myself. There are a couple of people who have contacted me about trades and purchases of the patch when we get it. If we go this route I'll just contact them and let them know ahead of time.
So did she give an estimate on turnaround time? |

Hi everyone,
Although I have been lurking here for some time now, I have been craving a ride with you guys since I picked up my 08 Blast. I still haven't gotten my plates yet and my temps have expired yesterday. Would I be able to get a handful of those patches with the promise of making at least two rides this season on the Southside with you guys? |

all the patches will be divided equally between participating Buellers.
This has gotten to be a drawn out ordeal; Not to be nasty but if you only want a couple of patches you can contact one of the paying Buellers for the couple you want or contribute equally for a larger amount for which you can trade or give away at your discretion.
