I dropped off my X1W at Worth Gladstone yesterday morning at 08:00 and they had installed the new exhaust pipes, transmission service and oil change, called me to pick it up at 10:15. Dang that is awsome service, I saw on the invoice that they even discounted the cost of the tranny service (5000 mile check) to allow for the shop time not necessary removing muffler for tranny access due to the warranty exhaust being done.
Aaron is doing an awsome job with that shop now that he is service manager, WAY TO GO GLADSTONE WORTH HD!!!, They are getting alot more Buell friendly there too. The X1 came out of the shop really running strong with the new O2 sensor and adjustments on the computer diagnostics.
God willin and weather cooperating I am planning on making it down to McBrides for the BRAG meeting and then over to Other Place, I want to pre register for the Baby run Sunday at the Speedway.
Buell riders= Willie G's bastard redheaded stepchildren, RIDE ON!

Mobbers...

I will not be on the Arkansas ride... some of us have to move to a new house that weekend!!!

Please tell me that the ride was scheduled before my announcement that I move that weekend!!! If you did not want to help me move you just could have said so... you all did not have to ride off to Arkansas!!! I suppose if I were moving to Arkansas... the ride would be it Colorado!!!???

:-) ride safe... have a great time... tell me about it ...and let me see photos of Sam's escapades. He is becoming an urban legend!!! It has been so long since I have seen him... I am doubting he really exist!!!

:-)

Paul,
I FINALLY found that part number, man...Got one ordered for you, and one for stock ;) It's $120 including the battery (to get you back up to "current" technology, hehe) I'll try to check on recall status today. It should be late this week, early next week for certain on the part.

Rusty,
Glad they're finally picking up their slack!

I have put in for time off. If approved, I expect to ride to Arkansas in hope of meeting up with the MOB.
Shazam, I would take a good steak dinner in lieu of money.:) Let it be a lesson learned: never doubt a wise old man. :)
Hope I can make it.

WOW, Looks like the living legends (V2WIN & Racerboy) are going to try to be in ARK!! Now if we can just get that Air Force guy to go along and try to hand out stickers to farmers children, we will really have an event!!

Dennis, Sure you want to miss this one. If you go, you will get to see the living legends ride and the debauchery of Sam. What else can you ask for in a weekend???? I hear there may even be an appearance from the "Dancing Queen".

Keith

pennies OK John? I know you'll be travelling light.......hahahahhahaa

Paul, If you use the telephoto you don't get the scenery.........bastard critics!

I stopped by Joe's (usapitbulls) house last night, he was curious about the XB..... maybe some of the rest of you are also.....

the new motor has more "snap" than an old tube frame X1 with the race kit.

second gear throttle feels (and acts...) like first.

easily clutches up third gear wheelies at 55mph struggles at 60mph (but doable) {realize I don't mean lifting the front wheel a few inches....I am talking standing the bike on it's tail}

I did a 78 mph power wheelie coming on the gas over a slight crest in the road that has never threatened launch before......big fun, need camera! I am sure this is wheelbase related....

I ran hwy 5 (closest thing to twisties we have aroud here) six times last night....this thing loves pulling out of the corners, wheelies on the power between gears through fourth. No downshifting necessary. powerslides in ANY gear torque on demand......

the motor drops to Idle earily fast, thought it would stall a few times, but levels out at about 1100.....I need to turn it down a tad (been too busy riding it).

Fuel consumption has gown down predictably.....riding around in the mountains of Colorado this past weekend I experienced 58mpg on the day, I thought some thing was wrong (read LEAN)..... Here in KC it has been more on the average of approximately 38mpg which is a little higher than what I expected. really had no idea!

seat of the pants gauging as follows:

1. It runs hotter, I mean seat temp is up at least 15 degrees, should drop a few when I switch to syn...noticeable but not unbearable! I figure it this way: anyone smiling this much should have wet balls.

2. It runs through every gear much faster...I think personally it's most noticeable in fifth, where you can whack the throttle at any RPM and it doesn't hesitate to start pulling. astonished at how soon I was out of gear.

3. Top speed has increased from an indicated 132-3mph to an indicated 138-9. Joe can Verify as we raced 'em last night(more on that soon enough). I assume that it's because the motor is making more horsepower at any given rpm that the higher top speed is possible. RPM limited....

4. loud! no really loud! LOUD, did I say LOUD? loud...I mean LOuD.......Loud enough that all the Harley guys that are usually afraid to let go of their handlebars are waving now, loud!

5. It needs a six speed......fifth gear doesn't "feel" like the highway lump along gear anymore, small changes in throttle position are clearly felt through the suspension.

6. It vibrates like a quarter bed at the hourly don-tel motel, don't ask me how I know, as it's also called the WON-TEL motel

as for the racing. If I can sneak out of the office early enough I may run by KCIR before the Brag Meeting tonight.....possible but not likely...I would love to have a timeslip for this thing before I blow it up!

anyhow, as I said I stopped at Joe's and we went for a spin, Me on his force piped XB9r (it's true, blue is slower) and him on my XB12NR. which worked out great because this gave us both some comparison riding. I hadn't been on an XB in a couple of months so I was wondering how much my judgement may have been clouded by separation. we broke south and started winding them up. I followed Joe. As he's going through the gears, I can see him throttle chopping, measuring the torque difference....then he winds it up and lets it come back down. and again he winds it up.......all the while I am feeling out Old Blue...It would have been nice to have had a stock XB in the mix, because I was surprised by the torque his bike was exhibiting, I've seen the charts so I know the pipe and PCIII combo is good for big numbers, but was suitably impressed with how hard his was pulling as well.

(and two of these bikes "piped out" running side by side at speed is something you gotta hear to believe!)

now for the roll-on deodorant testing.... side by side fifth gear roll-ons always left my bike conservatively ten to fifteen bike-lengths up when I bumped the limiter on Joe's. whether it was from 70 or 90, whitey just plain walked away from "blue in the face".....and like I said top speed was no contest he just kept on going....Joe told me that the big end on his was always around 130 He saw "near" 140 on mine I saw 131 on his..... for what it's worth.

A really noticable difference in the two bikes was how smooth the injection on mine is....Joe has a LOT of 2500 rpm hesitation until it warms up. I think the time on the dyno that brian spent re-mapping my PCIII contributed greatly to it's smooth operation....mine admittedly idles a little rough.....but there really isn't any point in the rpm range where you feel any changes to the power curve.

those who have ridden it may want to add their thoughts as I am sure people are curious for an "unbiased" opinion.

I will also post this on the XB board under "the poop and the numbers"

Sam, you suck!
I can't wait to get you on the track next year!
Gonna let me do some laps on it, that way we can see how fast it really is.

Ride to the edge!
God, I hope I'm still faster than Sam

Dave, That FAH-QR is FAST! There is no letting up when Sams bike is full on throttle, it pulls 100% until its topped out.

I don't care what the rest of the mob says about you... I think you are ok!!! I want to publicly thank you for offering to stay behind and help me move the weekend of the Arkansas trip. That offer carries a bunch of weight in my book... THANKS!!! but I got it covered.

WOW... I saw Sam... he really exists!!! The urban legend is true... Now if I can just see Elvis and Jimmy Hoffa... my life is complete!!!

Sam,
Allready saw that this morning!!! Got any couch space???? I promise to be nicer to it than you were to my spare bedroom???? Sam is not just an urban legend in KC, he is one here in Qtown also. (just in a different manner)

I have to speak to Ben and make sure of his plans, but Heather and I are looking at heading your direction on the evening of Sept 18th. Then Heading down to Ark the next day with you guys.

It was great seeing such a large crowd last night!!! Hopefully this is a trend. As for the Arkansas trip, I have Friday the 19th off, so i'm flexible on departure time.

Keith, bring it on....the couch is broke in! much like your spare bedroom...hahahaha I've got plenty of room and would love to repay you for the "hospitality"....

I was out playing in the rain last night til the wee hours, two things: the bike didn't miss a lick and pilot sport H2's will also wheelie in the drowning wet.

got home about 1:00am and threw the saddle-bags on her, I decided, if I don't have to "work" in arkansas on sunday, I'm road-tripping the bike to Texas.....
