Mark, you'll find something better. Sorry you have to worry about it now though.

Sporty - That sucks. I'm sure you won't have any problems finding a job, but still it's stressful. I'll write you a glowing recommendation if you need one.

Mike - I got your call today. Use any pictures you want. I may have the originals around still. Let me know which ones you're specifically interested in and I'll look.

Sporty,
Sux about the job. It just means there's something much better around the corner.

Any chance your buddies extra parts include a set of CityX bars?

Mike,
SWEET!!! That's really COOL!

It's kinda hard to tell, but last night it got a little more red to it.

A really good friend of mine was featured in the News Observer on the 4th:

http://www.newsobserver.com/news/growth/traffic/st ory/980199.html

The paper refers to him as an evangelist for the CNG cause which isn't really true. He is a cheap old codger that really likes to tinker : ) We've got some great pictures of him 'acquiring' some parts from a one of Saddam's boat houses : )

I know a guy who has a set of CityX bars. I'm not sure if he's willing to part with them, but I'll find out and let you know.

I did a little experimenting last night- discovered I can fit my 2-pc leathers and my back protector into one of the Uly's sidecases. Now I won't have to decide between riding for ~7hrs in my leathers or riding at MBV without leathers.

I get bored:

The amber bulb actually stays on anytime the ignition is switched on but is completely overpowered by the headlights:

I figure I'll end up losing the extra 194 bulb before I find a use for it, so I'll toss it in my tank bag and bring it to the Daytona 200 viewing party at Ray Price tomorrow. First Lightning/Ulysses owner to ask for it wins. : )

Brankin - The bike looks cool! Even the birds think so.

Spike - I was thinking about adding the EU middle light too. Looks cool.

Mike M. - Sorry I missed the party. I had to work. We are in the process of releasing a new truck with parts coming and going all over the world. Trying to get the flow of parts and people trained on all new processes has been a challenge. 20+ hours of overtime cuts into my Badweb time too. I did ride last Saturday and Sunday. I rode up last Sunday and talked to Jordan. Sorry I missed you.

No sir, I do not believe that you are alone. Didn't get to go to Rau Price yesterday, didn't get to ride at all. My 'honey-do' list did the 'honey' in. I got to ride a whole wopping hour today, interrupted by a shifter that kept coming loose, almost lost the bolt at one point. Stopped by Autozone to get some lock-tite. They had one stick of blue and one stick of red on clearence for a penny a piece. score!!! Turned out to be a good ride after all. I just want to get use to this bike before MBV comes around. The way it is looking, that may not happen. Nothing like breakin it in fun way

Did someone mention 'break in'?

3-9-08

500 miles on the dot!

Changed oil and filter (didn't find hardly anything on the magnetic drain plug) and proceeded to take my first test ride with

No restrictions

I do believe that was the evil, Buell laugh ricocheting around inside my helmet...

How was the 200 party?

I had a good time at the party. Ray Price had an entire room set up for us with Buell motorcycles (including Jordan's XB12R race bike) and apparel on display. The racing was great (aside from Honda's foul-ups). The crowd was diverse and varied in size throughout the race. Even Ray Price himself came in for a while. I'm hoping the dealership will make road race viewing parties a regular event.

Now onto my soap box . . .
Frankly, I'm disappointed by the number of Buell riders that were in attendance. I didn't interview everyone at the party, but I think I was the only Buell rider there that wasn't an employee. I don't mean to pin this on C3ers, but the Buell community in general tends to be fairly vocal about the lack of Buell support from dealers. Now we have a local dealer stepping up and hosting a party that caters directly to Buell riders and very few of us even bother to show up. In our defense the party was not announced until a week ago, but a one week notice should be enough to get at least some of us there. Perhaps I have a different perspective as a former employee of Ray Price, but I see the dealership making big changes to better serve the Buell community. If someone in management were using the Daytona 200 party to gauge the interest of local Buell owners they may get the impression that we are not a worthwhile investment. I know that one event does not accurately represent the Buell community, but I was hoping to see a better response to this event.

Back from a great Daytona 200 trip. Pete had to bail due to bike issues so Rachel and I left Thursday evening after work and had a great ride down to Walterboro, SC and called it quits.

Woke up to rain, wind and ligtning on Friday and we headed South through all manner of shit.

Got to the Condo outside of Daytona mid-afternoon Friday, totally soaked. I fired up the oven and did a slow cook of boots and gloves to dry them.

It was going to pour into the night so we rented a car and headed into Daytona. Had a great Thai dinner, then headed to the BMW pre-race party which was great. They gave us a really nice coffee table book on the hisotry of BMW racing and the riders for the 200 were there talking about the race and signing the books. Nice event.

Drove into the track infield and began exploring in the car, as it was pouring rain nobody cared where we went. We ended up parking under the pit patios in the car and were treated to a free viewing of the entire Supercross race which was EPIC due to the conditions. If you get a chance to see it on SPeedTV, watch it! We stayed completely dry, bonus.

MEssed around Dayton some more and headed back to the condo. Saturday it was blue sky but windy as hell 50+ mph gusts. We rode the HP2 two-up into Daytona, checked out all the vendor stuff and then saw the incredible 200. The HP2 Sports did great and finished 5th and 6th out of 60+ bikes. Brian Parriot crash on the 1st or 2nd lap, kept the HP going, was in last placed, rode his ass off and ended up 6th. F'n incredible!

After the race we went to the freak show otherwise known as Main St.; not really my scene but it was entertaining. Played around Saturday night in Daytona and headed back to the condo.

Left Sunday morning and rode straight back home, about 500 miles I guess b/w 80-90 mph the whole way... on a buck naked mega-dirt bike. Talk about an upper body work out! It was great fun. I hope some on ya'll will join us next year.

I'm going to ASheville to pick up a 12R and ride this weekend. U4 and Pete are coming. Anybody else?

Spike,
You're correct!
Was hoping to attend the 200 party but work has been craazzy of late. Friday afternoon was told to go buy a car trailer, register it, and then drive to Atlanta Saturday to deliver a 3000 lb power unit. Made Atlanta and back in 17 hours with only one un-commanded lane change due to the high winds. Ended up finishing up Friday's work on Sunday. Not to bitch, work is work, and that's why they pay me to be there. Just seems like it is getting in the way of my life too much lately.

Hope Ray Price does it again and I can attend.
Thanks to Mike for the time and effort that he is putting into making Buell not such a dirty word at the HD dealership. I find myself headed to Ray Price to buy Buell & HD things lately because the Mall Store treats me like a tourist looking for a T-shirt.

Thanks for your post, wish I could do more to support this dealership who is supporting Buell side by side with HD.

Tim

Was hoping to attend the 200 party but work has been craazzy of late.

Same here. I put in 65 hours last week. I was a tired pup at 3:30 Saturday when I got home. I had planned even up to Thursday to leave with Webe from work to Ray Price, but the weather had not cleared here at that time and all I had planned to get done, I could not get to due to problems. As a matter of fact I am sitting here at home working now. I hope Ray Price does it again. I would love to jump on the bike and take a Jim Nance ride around the block but life sometimes get in the way.
