O.K. I can't let Tank be the only one to start something. Last check looks like a cool but dry weekend, is there anybody out there looking to fill their tank and head out in a general direction. I'm thinking Benefit and attaching roads in Chesapeake

I should explain...

I mentioned something about riding so far, I would have to camp instead of ride back. Melvin said Motel 6 would be the closest he would ever get to camping.

Melvin can get his own room...

I don't think I'll be able to do anything this weekend. Mainly, because the wife is doing photos for charity at the chili cook off over at Bayside HD on Sat. I'll prolly be out there with the kids, so if you guys want to come out... the more the merrier!

The chili cook off is from 11-3... I think.

It's for the SPCA, so it's a pretty good cause.

I played hooky this afternoon, unfortunately it was only to ride down to southside. I wanted to see if they had that white 'bolt there. Duck said it was gone REALLY fast. I did get to talk to the man about the 1125R, apparently it should be on the floor in Dec!!??!!

Well, I ran a nice little 70 mi scouting trip in the Subaru. I found Shillelagh, and I now know that if I had done this blind we would have made a ridiculous amount of U-turns.

So, I'm going to try to simplify the run.

Unfortunately, I wont be able to ride on Saturday, and Sunday looks like it's going to rain, and just be generally nasty all day.

It really bums me out, because I had the mexican place picked out and maybe even some dyno runs, if you guys were interested.

That being said, I don't want to paint myself into a corner. So, I'm going to try to be flexible and see how things turn out.

I'm 99.5% positive that I wont be able to ride at all on Saturday. But, if weather moves to nice in Sunday....

So, for the sake of seeing who might be interested... who would like to get some pulls on a shiny new DynoJet dyno?

I was thinking....(I know bad idea)

This "Brett" dude might not be a bad friend to have.

Unfortunately, I have obligated myself to chase some electrical gremlins in a co-workers car on Saturday.(I don't even know what kind of car it is??)

Brett, is that a "steady state" dyno, and can you do cars too??

I may need some dialing-in in a couple months.

Mel-
Right now the only thing apart is the headlight/instrument thingy. If you're wantin to take things apart then come on by and we'll go to work on her. The only thing that makes me nervous is dropping the engine. I need to do it so I can get the pipes coated. Oh well, I guess if I can fix multi-million dollar helicopters I can do that...besides..."Dude, I can fix it. My dad has an awesome set of tools."

First off, this is NOT my dyno. I am good friends with the guys at All Aspects Motorsports. And that is where the dyno is.

Keinan, the owner of the shop, has a AWD DynoJet dyno. So, he can do ALL types of cars, trucks, etc.
Vern, the other mechanic in the shop, owns the mini-dyno that would be used for bikes and that is who I/you/we would go through for that.

While I don't know about the dyno being "steady state" I do know that it's a DynoJet brand dyno.

A few words, if I may, the mini-dyno is BRAND NEW. Vern wasn't even too keen about letting ME be the first bike on the dyno, they were going to test with Keinan's Kawasaki cruiser.

Now to their credit. They both have literally hundreds (most likely even thousands) of hours running the first AWD dyno in the area, and an awesome reputation for tuning. And if I EVER had an issue with either the car or the bike that I couldn't solve, THESE would be the FIRST guys I go to.

So, as you can imagine they don't want to kill that reputation. So, I have a feeling they will start slowly. They popped the mini-dyno's cherry with a shop friend's Arena Racing car (mini-MINI-NASCAR with a Honda lawnmower engine). But, I wouldn't be surprised if they ended up being a premier shop for bikes/atvs/etc. SOON.

I told Vern that I would let him know who was interested and see what we could work out. He was all game for having as many buells as we could muster.

So, the little warning is just that a LITTLE warning if we do end up riding down for some pulls, I know some might get a little hesitant if the dyno guy is still a little "green" running it.

I guess a question that I have is, what do you guys expect for "normal" pricing for motorcycle dyno pulls and tuning time?

I don't know if I'll have a say in what they will price, I'm thinking that Vern already has a price in mind, but I'll ask/prod/suggest as much as I can to make it as worthwhile as possible for my fellow brethren.

And again, I'll call Vern tomorrow afternoon and ask him any questions you guys got, and some of my own that I continually create. And get some answers out to you guys ASAP.

Tank- let me know about what you would be tuning with. Is it normally you who tunes it or the guy running the dyno? I know that Keinan has no issues with owners (or owners selected tuners) adjusting tuning maps while on the AWD dyno. So, yeah. There you go.

Wow, I'll stop rambling... for now.
