Guys, I'm still waiting on a call from TrackTime for a spot for the 16th.

I tried before we went to Homecoming and had no luck. I signed up for the standby list. Hopefully, they will give me a call and say that a spot opened up.

Hopefully, I will ride up to Joliet for the track day and meet you guys.

John, Tim, & Marc, I'm looking forward to riding with you guys again.

Troy

Good News,
Rear wheel Bearings are in and will be installed on Marc's Uly by Wed AM at Conrad's HD/Buell. It is always fun to cut it real close with a mandatory repair right before Buell track day. Kudo's to Conrad's for understanding my track day opportunity and completing a quick turnaround.

Look forward to chasing you crazy loons around the Autobahn on Thursday rain or shine.

Question --> Is anyone trailering who can bring us a fold up canopy to shelter us from the 40% chance of rain? My Uly is utilitarian, but bungy cording a fold up canopy to my passenger seat would be a bit much. I also had to buy gas from someone last time as I got about 120 miles to a tank riding WOT all day. If this same trailering individual can bring a 5 gallon can of 91+ octane you could make a cool profit off of those of us who ride to the Autobahn and need to buy gas from you.

I'm sure we are all 2 wheeling to the Autobahn as we are hard riders and if so we can likely rely on the kindness of our fellow riders who will be trailering and bringing all of this extra stuff!

I'm so excited, I'm sure I will sleep restlessly the next two nights!

Zac & I will be there. We're going to haul our bikes in his pick up. We'll bring some extra gas...of course the price will be whatever the traffic will bear. I'm thinking the Club needs a little extra cash...so maybe $15-20 bucks for a 50/50 mixture of regular and water

See you there!

Amazing time at the track day!!! We had 9 turn out. The only casualty was Don's Busa. The important thing is that he's okay! He's been thinking strongly about an 1125R and I think he may be one step closer to it now.

And thanks to Curt and "Hotel Ringwald" for putting me, Tim and Troy up for the night so we wouldn't need to ride as far this morning to get to the track.

I just signed up for the track day at Road America on Oct 9th. The rumor is that there will be twenty 1125R's available to test ride, so everyone will get a chance to test one out if they want. I had to register as "expert" for the track day because nothing else is available, which means if you're thinking of registering do it soon. We'll bump down when we get to the track as we have in the past. Besides me, Frank, Zac, Greg and Don are already signed up.

I have also posted my personal camera photos on kodakgallery.com. If you would like any of them, please PIM me with the photo title that you want and I'll email the full size file to you. Each photo will be 2 to 3 MB in size so choose only what you really want to avoid filling up your email queue.

Hey, Chicagoans...

I was arguing with a guy on the Old School forums about some inconsequential effluvia that really wasn't important... and I just got so tired of the gum flapping on both our parts, I started going on and on about all these great restaurants I had been to in and around Chicago. Could some of you guys look at this thread...

http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/476 23/299720.html?1187714066 (and the archived part where I talk about Gianatti's)

... and maybe tell me the name of the little blues club, and the bar with all the Lugers on the wall I was talking about? Feel free to answer or give your 2 cents about some of the places I mentioned (answer on that particular thread, not here, if you please). I haven't been to the Windy City for 6 years and really miss the place. My dad is old time Chicago, born and bred, and most of his family still lives in Oak Park. I used to work for Thrallcar manufacturing in Georgia, but the main office and manufacturing plant was in Chicago Heights... I was in the city at least 3 or 4 times a year and always enjoyed it.

Thanks youse guys.

I'm in touch with AmericInn in Plymouth, trying to get a club discount if we all book there for the Road America track day. Don't know if I'll get anywhere, but its worth a try. I'll post progress soon....

Was anybody thinking about heading up to Union Grove this weekend for the Harley Shootout that Coolice mentioned? Erik Buell and the Thunderbolts are playing there early Saturday afternoon.

I was able to get that club discount rate for the hotel we'll use for that track day at Road America. PM me or call my cell at 312 593 5441 for details.

Its looking like I may need to postpone my drag race night that was scheduled for Aug 30. Was anybody planning on doing that? I may need to do Sept 13 instead. Let me know...

Also: I won't be at the rider's meeting on Sept 6th. I'll be out of town.

I couldn't make Speedy's party. I hope it was a good one. The weather was great.

I'm planning to head out to Blackhawk on Sept 15 or 16 to see Speedy and Greg race. More later....

If you and Speedy are racing at BlackHawk that weekend and if John (good photo) and anyone else wants to ride there, give us details. I should be able to make it.

Hey all,
It's been a while, I'll see everyone on Thursday night right!? Hopefully we'll have access to a DVD player because I finally have (at long last) the footage of my 15 seconds of fame at Route 66. Anyway I'm looking into having some new graphic lettering to replace "Buell" I have on there now since I lost the "B" on the left side last year. I'll also have the latest racing developments for next year too.

Kurt

Gentlemen,

Loved the track day photos. I wanted some of the "pros" to straighten me out. I noticed many times on all levels of riders out there with the "upside down forks" a definite "bending forward of the axle. Is this an optical illusion due to the spokes of the wheel? Or is the lower fork leg flexing that amount???? I do have a flat screen pc monitor so I know that is not a cause of distortion. Just a thought.

Keith

Keith,

Referring to the picture of John posted above, the "bending axle" phenomenon you are seeing is the result of absolute animal speeds being carried through the corner......
