well.... i might have to sit the next couple of rides out. Yesterday a woman in a truck didn't see me after her stop at the stop sign.

I guess I could have been more aware of my surroundings because I didn't see the gravel in the intersection, I just grabbed a big 'ol handful of front brakes when I saw her continue through the intersection.

Well, Lets just say that Bar end Sliders and Frame Pucks are great, but that damn cheap shifter lever sucks asphalt!

"all the gear all the time" Right guys? I came away with some road rash on my left leg, and a big gash on my knee... but I can still walk! Actually I only took the day off cause I knew I didn't want to get up first thing in the morning.

Guess what else I found out... Unless the person coming into the intersection actually hits you, when you fall down, it's "Your fault". Fortunately the HPD officer gave me the option of not getting a "reckless driving" ticket. He let me go with a "sorry guy, that's just the way it is" speech.

The irony is that I was actually on my way to a great big empty parking lot to practice my evasive maneuvers!

Oh well... time to start turning some wrenches... Later

that sucks dude. At least you're just bruised and not really messed up. I haven't been down yet on a street bike(had plenty of scrapes and nut busters on dirt bikes as a kid). I hate to believe the longer you go the worse it will be. I have become a little lazy lately and leaving the jacket at home. Man it is so friekin hot! I think I'll go ahead and buy those Icon hooligan pants and Power trip Army flak vest.

My sympathies brother.

Today I was up at HR HD getting my intake warranty work done and talked to the used bike guy (Grant) and the X1 White Lightning will be let go for 4447 out the door. Sounds like a nice plan C to me.

As a side note I popped the Blast's (break-in) cherry on the way up to the dealer, so I hit a new top speed on the way home. ;)

Mel

Glad you are Okay, metal can be replaced.

Kevin

HRH is fine with me but the winged bar and shield artwork has got to go. my idea would be some line drawings of the evolution of the ultimate hooligan bike(Buell) with Hampton Rhodes Hooligans arched across the top and a Buell logo on the bottom

This weekend

Sorry guys I am going to bail on the Knott's Island Ferry Run S___has come up. nothing major but enough to have to bail.

Thanks Guys. It's really not as bad as it could have been, but no fall is a good fall.

Update, bike fixed! And got a cool custom made shift lever. My brother came by and test rode it for me, said that it works fine.

I think it might be time for some red paint on the other plastics. (cover some scratches) but I'm still too sore to ride. Plus, I'm really in need of some new gear.

Alright: majority rules.... HRH

So, the ride... it would be on Sat right?

As long as the ride isn't too technical or you guys don't mind a novice on a Blast bringing up the rear, I'm all for it.

I can't do it this weekend, but if you guys decide to head out to Knotts Island, it would be a nice ride. You will hit weekend traffic late in the day. Just watch out for sand in some of the tighter corners. Stop by Monk's (90 degree left turn on the way out, across from a used car lot, with a gravel parking lot) and get a burger and beer.

Hello All,

I was talking to Duc over at Southside about riding groups and he pointed me in this direction. I ride a XB12SS and if you guys got room for more I would be interested in riding with you all sometimes. I am not sure on what days you all ride but I am usually available on Fridays or Saturdays. Take it easy.

Hey were you at the open house a couple of weeks ago? I saw a black 12S in the lot but missed the rider. If not then that means there is one more of us out there...

Dang Mel, Glad you got the bike hooked up so fast, but it still sucks that you ate it over an idiot cager. Get well soon, dude.

Finally got my Palm Tungsten, and got the software installed, but haven't tried it on a test specimen yet.

Congrats on the name change. Now that I know where you all are, I've got a question for you.

Back in the 80s I worked a couple of summers in Newport News. There was this park I used to go to, which at one time had been a quary. The pits had been flooded, turning them into ponds, and the area was fairly wooded.

I'd get to it by driving out of town over the James River Bridge and going maybe 10 more miles. Does anyone know where I'm talking about? I'd like to find it again.

Jlnance

you are most likely talking about slade's park. it's on route ten near Surry right a or near hogs pen rd. by the surry power plant.

To all others

My recent post of having to bail on the knott's island ferry ride was premature. I have made compensations with my scheduled so I am able to lead that ride for the interested parties. it does look to have a bit of length to it, so an appetite and thirst(Kevin might just develop. I would recommend meeting t the McD's at lynnhaven rd and lynnhaven parkway again. it's an easy landmark to find and has hot coffee for those who are dependent. saturday 8/11/07 9:30 am. it will get us done around lunchtime.
RIDERS OF ALL SKILL LEVELS INVITED
this will be a touring ride but will also show some good roads to those unfamiliar with pungo. right now plan A is up and ready for he trip.post up and let me know if you are going, let's not have to change the name again to mising 1

Hey Jim,
I was going to say Slades Park too. It's the only "park" that I know of South of the James.

Mike,
Congrats on Plan-A!
Wish I could make it, but it looks like an early morning departure on Sat for DC to pick up my Plan-B?.

Tank

thanks on the plan A and have a good trip to dc

Kevin

The route starts out like the last pungo ride but changes at the end of west neck to go toward th ferry over to 168 the to ballahack. There is a good mexican rest. near the end of the ride in deep creek.

To all

Need to push meeting time back to 10:30 I've got someone coming by to look at a car I have for sale at 8:00 and they are coming fro yorktown. So I am going to hang around for them to show. If I'm lucky it will help start the funds for plan C
