Since it's right down the street, we'll probably make Poser-Paloza a weekly thing.
So, count us in for the free wing thing!
See y'all out there.
Stealth, we're meeting at SS&MB's tonight after eight.
You can meet us there, or at Hooter's.

It would be cool next week if we all could rally up and meet somewhere. Then pull up at Hooters and make a "3%ers entrance"
but might be hard for everyone though, we all get off work at different times and come from all over the metro atl area.

Word up 3%ers......I'll try to make it out on the 13th. I really miss hanging out with you guys and gals.

Shredly.....what time? and where exactly is it again?

Well, I got excited today when I say a possible candidate for a future motard. From the road it looked like a XR400 or something.......headlight and tail light with white plastics (easy to prime out black). I stopped, turned around and wen to look. Sadly......it was a 98 CR 250 (2 stroke). Great condition and great care. 1500 bucks. Oh well, still looking for the golden goose.

8:00 PM. It's the one I posted above. Take 85 to 316 to 120 aka Duluth Highway, and make a left. Turn left at the first light, and you'll be right in the parking lot.

> i will send you an envelope with postage

Don't sweat it. It will only be a few bucks. Just PM me your mailing address, and I'll ship it out to you.

P.S. It's aliiive! I got the key to my M2 back, cleaned out the dirt from the carb, fired it right up. Now I just need to decide if I'm going to put a new frame on it or just part it out and buy another complete bike.

I'll be at Hooters at 6:30 ish' to get reserve parking for us up front and to get a few good tables. I'll do a roll call on sunday so I can tell the manager how many 3 %ers as showing up.

Things don't really get started up there until 7ish. If some of ya'll want to rally up and then come or just show at when you can I guess.

I had posted 8pm in a earlier post but it sounds like tables fill up quick and the manager said the free food was only from 3pm-7pm "it was in the very small fine print at the bottom of the VIP Pass"

I told the manager we all work for a living and most of us wouldn't be there until 7:30-8 o'clock. He's said it shouldn't be a problem but when I call him on sunday with a head count he'll let me know what he'll do for the club. I'll post up everything sunday night.

Hey Shred, Charlie, This is probably a dumb question to you guys and I am sure there is a Law of Physics behind it but my head just can't seem to get around you guys leaning off the side of the bike that is leaning toward the ground already. Seems like that would MAKE you fall. Seems like you should be leaning in the opposite direction to counter balance the bike.

Does it create a sling shot effect?

(Guess Kdan's "boop" theroy isn't sinking in either)

bambi,

two things (hope this helps...)

1. the bike doesn't want to change directions when it's goin' fast in a straight line. you have to make the momentum shift. you do that by leaning off and physically "pulling" the bike into the turn, rather than turning the handlebars and "steering" it through.

2. suspension ROCKS!! the more the bike leans, the less effective the suspension is. by leaning YOU off the bike in the direction you want to turn, you lean the BIKE over less, making the suspension work better.
so really the bike is counterbalancing you instead.

that's the why of it. the how is more physics. or do i have how and why backwards? i hate math. : )

it's cyntripical force. i know my spelling is off. it's basicaly the same reason you can swing a bucket of water over you head at high speed and the water stays in the bucket.

The centripetal force is the external force required to make a body follow a circular path at constant speed. The force is directed inward, toward the center of the circle. Hence it is a force requirement, not a particular kind of force. Any force (gravitational, electromagnetic, etc.) can act as a centripetal force. The term centripetal force comes from the Latin words centrum ("center") and petere ("tend towards", "strive for sth.").

The centripetal force always acts perpendicular to the direction of motion of the body. In the case of an object that moves along a circular arc with a changing speed, the net force on the body may be decomposed into a perpendicular component that changes the direction of motion (the centripetal force), and a parallel, or tangential component, that changes the speed.

Basic formula
The velocity vector is defined by the speed and also by the direction of motion. Objects experiencing no net force do not accelerate and, hence, move in a straight line with constant speed: they have a constant velocity. However, an object moving in a circle at constant speed has a changing direction of motion. The rate of change of the object's velocity vector is the centripetal acceleration.

The centripetal acceleration varies with the radius r of the circle and speed v of the object, becoming larger for greater speed and smaller radius. More precisely, the centripetal acceleration is given by

where ω = v / r is the angular velocity. The negative sign indicates that the direction of this acceleration is towards the center of the circle, i.e., opposite to the position vector r. (We assume that the origin of r is the center of the circle.)

By Newton's second law of motion F = ma, a physical force F must be applied to a mass m to produce this acceleration. The amount of force needed to move at speed v on a circle of radius r is:

where the formula has been written in several equivalent ways; here, is the unit vector in the r direction and ω is the angular velocity vector. Again, the negative sign indicates that the direction of the force is inwards, towards the center of the circle and opposite to the direction of the radius vector r. If the applied force is less or more than Fc, the object will "slip outwards" or "slip inwards", moving on a larger or smaller circle, respectively.

If an object is traveling in a circle with a varying speed, its acceleration can be divided into two components, a radial acceleration (the centripetal acceleration that changes the direction of the velocity) and a tangential acceleration that changes the magnitude of the velocity.

Examples
For a satellite in orbit around a planet, the centripetal force is supplied by the gravitational attraction between the satellite and the planet, and acts toward the center of mass of the two objects. For an object at the end of a rope rotating about a vertical axis, the centripetal force is the horizontal component of the tension of the rope, which acts towards the center of mass between the axis of rotation and the rotating object. For a spinning object, internal tensile stress is the centripetal force that holds the object together in one piece

Charlie/Mike, here's your second 9:59 of fame:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sk00yTGOzEQ

Bambi, you've probably heard it referred to as "centrifugal" force. Technically centrifugal force doesn't exist though. There's no centrifugal force pushing you down onto the bike. Rather, the centripetal force of the bike is pushing up on your butt as it turns while your body's momentum is trying to keep it moving forward.

Yeah, sounds pretty much the same as Kdans "Boop" theory.

Seriously, it's what I was thinking (even if watching it, it still doesn't look right) just wasn't sure what words to use.
leaning off and physically "pulling" the bike into the turn, rather than turning the handlebars and "steering" Yeah, that's what I call a "sling shot", you're "whipping" it around.

Thanks guys! Especially for not making me feel dumb for asking!
