Thanks Bud, just missed ya today. I was in and bought frame pucks. I like the points program thing!

That's even better news about the logo. I too have had issues with HD on logo stuff. Glad to see everything turned out.

Chinashop,
Sorry I missed you. Tuesday's are normally my day off but I had to check up on the Rental Dept. I have the Ulysses and the CityX rented for tomorrow so I had to get paper work handled. While you were in did you check on the header and the timing cover? If not, I will check tomorrow and let you know. Will you be at the meeting tomorrow night? Hope so.
See ya.

I was the one picking on Bud, whilst playing with a stainless steel brake line that turned out to be too long ... when the measurement was taken, the parts guy didn't consider the 3 inches the fittings added on top of the hose length ...

Oh well ...

I also was wondering who was who .. as I was talking to an employee when the formal intro's were going on downstairs .. MikeJ and Chinashop - who were you two ?

... Brian

I was the bearded one, until I shave then I'm the mustached one. Who's the one who does the detailing work? He'd probably have had a heart attack if he saw my M2 down at Hal's last night, and he'd probably punch me if he saw the S2 today, first seasonal rides after their winter hibernation. I did at least take a towel and wipe the dust off the seat. : )

Bud,
Thanks for the bag. You might have two people heading down between today and May 18 for a test ride, one a joy ride who might not make it, but the other one really likes the 9R models.

Mike .. I would be the detailer ... (www.cleanestcars.com) ...

I also have the Venturi rack with the shorter grab rail on my M2 .. well for the M2, haven't used it yet.

I wouldn't have been in a position to say anything about the state of anyone's bike Wednesday ... You must not have seen my S1 ... a couple days riding in wet, one in the rain, and so on ... my bike wasn't exactly clean either ... but I must warn you - and Steve and Matt can verify .. if you do come down to the 'Check Your Nuts Garage' you will not be allowed to leave on a dirty bike ... it's just one of them things ... can't let people see a dirty vehicle of any kind leave my garage, what would people say ?

Speaking of which, when did you want to take care of that isolator on your ride ? A few of us are waiting on a few bits and pieces to finish up some work on our bikes, I am thinking as close as we are to the Crud run, it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to spend that Friday night prior to in the garage, making sure the rides are up to the ride ... I have at minimum, steering head bearings to do, and depending on the parts situation, a front motor mount to swap out.

Let me know what you were thinking.

Hey Brian, since you're into detailing, what's a really good aluminum wheel cleaner to use on my rims?

You'd cringe if you knew what I used ... I unfortunately have no recommendation as far as any over the counter/parts house type cleaner ... I have heard that people like the S100 line of bike cleaning products ..

the stuff I use isn't readily available for public consumption ... and costs a bit more ...

I can say this - wash them regularily and keep them lips polished up, otherwise road grim and brake dust will eat away at the finish. and you will have a difficult time returning to perfection .. Just wash them with the same soap you use on the bike .. then polish with your favorite polish .. but do it often - if they look dirty - wash em ...

Brian,
Not sure about a time yet, I'm kind of in the middle of working a deal on the FXRT they have down there, might have to wait on another one to come along, will know better in a day or three. Plus I have to figure out where I stuck the new parts to put on, everything got relocated around between now and back when I bought the parts. I think I've got where they are narrowed down to the garage in one of many bins, probably will be in the last one I look in. I'm on the S2 today, will check its isolator condition as well, I think both bikes need it done as both also have 25-30,000 miles each on them. I'll post or ping an email to you once I get things figured out. Might post the M2 on the local craigslist after I swap out the gas tank to see what interest it generates. Man this is a rambling disjointed paragraph, no wonder I can't find the parts I already bought. ;)

Steve said "S100 is da' bomb for cleaning wheels IMHO."

Hmmm ... I'm curious Steve, I wonder how much experience you actually have here ... considering you were victim of the 'not being able to leave the garage with that bike lookin' like that !' at one point ....

Steve rides first ... cleans second .. well .. actually .. it would be rides 1st-99th ... then he might clean on the 100th ...

Love ya Steve !

But yes ... many people swear by the S-100 ... would be better than your average 'autozone' type cleaners ...

You could also book a slot in the garage and for a minimal fee, can have it taken care of for you ...

Mike - that's fine ... just let me know ... aside from my daddy duties ... I have probably the most flexible schedule out of anyone in our lil group ...

Rides 1st-99th? I think you're being overly polite here. I think I washed the S3 and CityX twice last year.

So, seeing as my bikes usually have more grime than most... And how well S100 works for the minimal times I actually DO clean the bikes... : )

On a side note, my lights FINALLY came in. Just waiting on ME to finish stripping the parts and gettin' 'em down to the powdercoater now.

Hey Toni and Steve,
Great ride today. I appreciate all the help "tweaking" the new bike. I'm sure I'll get it soon. And thanks for the seat.
Jason-
Steve's bike really sounded great with the new race muffler. Boy I sure would like to get one of those for my XB12S. I will be getting a race ECM soon so we'll have to talk.

No I haven't ... Sized it up to see how it installs last year when I got it .. it looked to be pretty easy ... maybe a 15 minute job if that ..

I will hold it up to the bike and take a picture tomorrow so you can see the size comparison.

I keep tossing around the idea of mounting it permanently, but I like my bikes to be as clean as possible without all the stuff attached .. I will probably only add it when going on a long haul where it will actually be used.

A link to a little preCrudRun reading from the past.

http://www.motorbyte.com/mmm/pages/cafe/cafe46.htm

Was looking for some wet raining cruddy bike pics and tripped over that link. Have fun this Sunday. If I make it I'll be there somewhere, if not I'll be house painting. And so it goes, riding in the slop, or slopping on some paint, life happens. Shooting a wedding on Saturday instead of working on the bike, video instead of film, wonder if they'll appreciate a 360° rotation of the camera mid-ceremony (probably not, so maybe I'll just introduce a little occasional sway ;) ).

What sort of rack are you talking about? Ventura, or other? Just curious.

Just passing thru and checking in.
Take care, gotta go hide again.
