Vintage Bike show this weekend, and I can go!

HD is the featured brand this year, so the Buells will attract some attention.
Let me know which way you are coming in, and maybe I can meet you for the ride in.

Wooo Hooo ! good job Jim! Somehow blowing it on the dyno seems safer than at 160 on the salt. But thats racing!

Duane and me are heading to Portland this morning about 8:30-9:00 to watch Code Red Racing. If anyone wants to go just come on over.

Gundog. Route not set, but expect we will approach Corvallis from the west after a quick ride throught the hills to Beaver on the coast and then back past Buell, Oregon on 22. Unless somebody has a better route planned.

Thank you for the support Dad, Kevin, Bob, Duane, and Mom for showing up to Cody's big track day. All I can say is that place is big. I thought I gave Cody enough gearing but he proved me wrong as he was tapped out a couple hundred feet short going down the front and back straight. Hope to return back to that track soon. Mike

Mike, Kim, I hope Cody has some appreciation of what great supportive parents he has. Mike, you da man! Kim, you da man! Oops. Kim, you da mom!
We were late getting to vintage motorcycle day at the Benton County Fairgrounds due some extremely curvy roads that got in our way, so didn't have a chance to see Code Red today.
By the way, the "Pussy-whipped puppy dog" did not make the BRAG ride again today, so I hope he was there with Loni supporting you all.

Ferris, I can't seem to find the SuperSplash thread, but was wondering if your route up from California was firmed up yet. I realize a man of your years can use all the firming up you can get, but the point is, there may be some Portland area riders who would like to ride down that Thursday, and meet up with you all to escort you into/thru the Portland area to Woodland Friday. We could share our favorite roads and roadstops with you. What say?

Well it was great riding today. L-o-n-g!
It was really cool watching Cody run on the BIG track. He is one lucky guy!!!

We made it home though there was a big wreck on I-5 that made us wait about a 1/2 hour.
When's the next race?

Yo Galen,

It has been a while since we last rode. The paint went on last year sometime. I was at SPLASH last year (where were you?) and suffered a major engine failure just before lunch on the first day, bummer. It has been a manic depressive relationship since then. When it's together I'm on top of the world, when it's not life just sucks. It's held together for 4 months now, but now makes a noisy tap. I plan on doing SPLASH as long as the bike and funds hold out. I'll be at the party on Friday for sure. See you then!

So, I need some new twisty roads to ride on.
getting tired of the same old roads. any good ones within a 100m radius of seattle/tacoma?
I usually ride "the canyon" which is on the way out to Elbe, there is a fun one from fife up to Salty's on Redondo also.
any suggestions?
thanks.

Yo Bob and Deb....what's up in the rain forest? So all is set for N Cascades. Sent in my $$. I am praying for nice weather, since as you know, I am a weather weening when it comes to 2 wheels. Just to let you know, I'm going to stay in Seattle that Thursday night @ my sister's. I'll head to Lynwood for the start of the ride Friday am. You want to just meet up there, or in Seattle or ??
I am off to Motown tomorrow for 4 days of music and mayhem courtesy of the Detroit Electronic Music Festival. mirrorballI'll only have one day to recover before heading north, so this ought to be interesting. Let me know where you'd like to meet up.

Misato: I haven't posted in a week and I'm just dieing to say something smart or helpful! Then you asked if there are "any good ones [roads] within a 100m radius of seattle/tacoma?" I'm thinking YES! I can help! Oh, God, thank you. I can help.

Then I read the rest of your post and wanted to call the suicide hot line. I can't help. Damn!

My two best rides are on the roads you mentioned. The northbound five mile section of road beginning nine miles south of Elbe, and the area around N.E. Tacoma and Redondo Beach are the best roads in the area.

Well, maybe I can help a little.

After you go through Elbe you could turn right, go across the RR tracks, over the bridge and 17 miles south to Morton, turn right on Hiwy 12 and go as far as Mayfield and the Mayfield Dam. From there you can continue on to I-5 and go north, or turn around and go back to Elby. Great roads that seem to be 97% cop free.

Later in the year you can continue from Elby on Hiwy 7 to Paradise Lodge on Mt. Rainier, through Stevens Canyon and out the other end of the park, turn left and end up in Enumclaw.

From Fife, get yourself down onto the Tacoma tide flats headed north. Turn right onto McMurry Rd. (aka Snake Hill). Lots of fun for about a mile. Then turn left and go the Cliffhouse Restaurant and on to Redondo Beach.

From Salty's, go up to 272nd, under the I-5 freeway, and down to the West Valley Highway, turn right, go past the Super Mall, and continue 1/4 mile past the Royal Bear Tavern. Turn right and go up hill to the stop sign and turn full left and go back down hill to intersect with the W. Valley Hiwy. If that's not twisty enough for you I'll buy the next round.

yeah, the one by the royal bear (the one way road) is a little too twisty! I was on it about 3 weeks ago, there was some gravel in some of the corners.

I havn't gone out to morton yet, I did go out skate-creek? the one thats right before the park entrance, rough road but fun, from there we went up the windy ridge- before the gate was open to traffic. That was the best ride I think I've ever had, got to the top and found an R6 that someone tried to ride it off the edge. must have been stolen, it didn't even make it over the curb, but it was pretty messed up.
I'll have to find 'snake hill' not sure if thats the one I ride or not, the cliff house ends up on the left at a stop sign. Then we keep going straight to redondo. I'll have to look for that road. SO its off Marine View dr.?

If you ride more less straight up to the Cliffhouse, you missed Snake Hill. You were close but you missed it. If you start at the Cliffhouse and ride downhill, you would turn left about 1/4 mile before the stop light and be on McMurry Rd. Good clean fun.

Someday I'll tell you about my first trip up the one way street near the Royal Bear. At the bottom of the hill I was with Bob, Duane, & Galen and fifteen seconds later they were out of sight. At the top of the hill I took a wrong turn and got lost. They spent the next half hour looking over the cliffs for my carcas. Serves them right for being so fast and dragging some slug like me along with them.
