It's actually pretty darn easy. I bought this 1"x50' black roll from Eastwood: http://www.eastwoodco.com/shopping/product/detailm ain.jsp?itemID=3366&itemType=PRODUCT&RS=1&keyword= DEI001 I really should have bought 2 rolls, as I couldn't quite cover the entire collector. Your headers look shorter than mine, though, so one roll might do it. Step 1: Test wrap one of the tubes to the point where they join. Just hold the wrap at one end and unroll it around the tube loosely. It doesn't have to be exact, but be sure you don't get it too short. Leave lots of spare wraps around corners. They take more than you think. Step 2: Cut the wrap to length for the first tube, and soak it in water. The wrap is more pliable and less dusty when it's wet. Stretch it tight, overlapping 1/4" on each pass (the 1/4" line is marked on the wrap). Use these stainless steel ties to secure the wrap at both ends: http://www.eastwoodco.com/shopping/product/detailm ain.jsp?itemID=3368&itemType=PRODUCT Step 3: Soak the rest of the roll, and wrap it around the second tube, starting from the engine side. When you get to the part where the tubes join, just continue wrapping around both tubes. Secure both ends again, and you're done. Step 4: This is where it sucks for you fat frame guys. Put the headers back on, ride the bike around until the wrap stops smoking, and then take them back off all over again. It took a lot longer than I expected for the smoke to calm down. Don't expect to just idle your bike in the driveway for a few minutes. I actually rode around sans muffler for a good half hour. Step 5: Spray the headers and wrap with this high temp silicone coating: http://www.eastwoodco.com/shopping/product/detailm ain.jsp?itemID=3386&itemType=PRODUCT&iProductID=33 86 It's just like spray paint, so put it on in several light coats instead of one thick one to avoid runs. It was a good time. I'm sad to report that I see a definite trend toward hideousness in custom bikes this year, though. There were only a couple of good old school shops in attendance and a flood of gaudy, garish, pointy, shiny monstrosities. Here's the best bobber hands down: The same company made a bike with my name written all over it: And yes, the other side of the tank says exactly what you think it does: Here's my favorite new bike this year. I have wrapped my pipes before, but always on the bike. How did you wrap them while off the bike. I just held them in my lap or propped them up against a chair. A second pair of hands would've definitely made the work easier. We can try it if you like, worst case is you have to pull the rocker boxes off to get it back together. We will be coming home early in the am Sunday, we will be leaving Sams grandparents house in about an hour to go see her dad and visit her mother's grave. Prolly gonna get a hotel later on tonight on the way home instead of fighting the drive all night. Will post when we get back. VA has some really great mountains!! We need to come up here for some seat time, I have only been on the superslab but the side roads I can see look good. Shred, sorry I had to bail at the last second, paying the bills took priority. Is that a flame job on the tank scored into the metal....cool! HELL YEAH ! ! !   Sanchez Posted on Saturday, February 10, 2007 - 10:37 am:        SOP is to yank the rocker boxes to remove the pushrods, but I think it could be done without that. The trick would be making sure the cams don't slip out as you're removing the cover. Here are a couple of pictures: The four cams ride in those bronze bushings. You can see the corresponding bushings on the cam cover itself. The cover is all that prevents the cams from pulling free, and the tolerances are very tight, so you'll have to be very careful not to pull them out along with the cover. Some notes: - Look in your service manual under 'G' for "Gearcase Cover." - The cam position sensor and rotor have to come all the way out. The rotor bolts to the #2 cam. - Keep track of which bolts go where in the cover. They're different lengths (or at least they were on the Nugget) - There's an oil line leading into the cover. I didn't have enough slack in it, so I disconnected it from the oil bag at the other end. I have a question. I just put a new clutch cable on the bike. Per the maint. manual. Well, I can put it into gear just fine.. however, when I put it in first and pull the clutch in, I can't spin the wheel.. like the gears are still engaged. This is what I did: I reinserted the ramp and installed the nut. I turned the adjusting screw until is just caught, then backed it off about 1/4 turn. It seems that no matter how far I back that adjusting screw off, it still doesn't improve. Any idears?? My cell number is 256-653-3774 if anyone feels like giving me a call. I wasn't considering the forces involved with turning the rear wheel with the clutch pulled in and in gear. duh. I cranked er up, and she is working just fine now. Took her for a freeeeeezing azz ride down the street and back... but my new buell knit cap kept my noggin warm at least. Suzuki has a 400 and it is a nice bike but sucks for street riding. A single for the street needs to be at a least a 600. Aprilla's Vtwin motards are fast. KTMs are still king when it comes to building motards. I just hope Buell will offer a 650 Rotax. I was getting dicked around here in atlanta from several stealerships so I called up a friend of mine that sells Hondas in Athens. He hooked me up with a very fair price. I'm just planning some local runs between Stone Mtn & Conyers area and then the long way home to Alpharetta via Marietta. No plans and completely open to suggestions. I wanna ride! Does anyone know if Smokescreen is working today? I have a shock and some buell knee pucks to pick up there.
