sanchez I almost forgot you... AGAIN!

the 30D is a great body for a professional backup or amateur photographer... the lens I was running is a great multipurpose all around lens... its the 17-85 IS which has worked well for me... its available in a Kit with the 20D and I'm sure it's avail. for the 30D... and the IS is such a wonderful addition...

the other lens I have is a 70-200 F4 without IS... if I had to do it over again I would have purchased the IS... but it is a wonderful zoom lens... they quality of photos is amazing and speed of focus is Class...

One thing to remember, which is why they made the 17-85 lens... is that ALL the 10 20 and 30 D models run a 1.6 factor on their lenses due to the size of the CCD... meaning you multiply all MM (17-85) by 1.6 (27.2-136) and (70-200) = (112-320)... this effect makes wide angle really difficult with these models... but zoom is helped a ton... just an FYI...

Hope to see ya with one soon Dirty... PS check out focuscamera.com or bhphotovideo.com... their customer service is great and shipping speeds are comparable to Newegg... ALMOST!...

Speaking of 30D....I promised my wife a 30D with all the goodies. I asked her about buying the Buell and she hit the roof.... I told her I'd have the camera by march for race season and for M-B this year. SO you know what that means...

My AZZ still hurts from the AZZ chewing....

Thanks, Duc. That helps a ton.

Xbullet, it depends on what track you're on and who's organizing the event. Here are the minimum requirements:

- A leather jacket and pants that zip together. Textiles might be ok depending on the track, but trust me when I say you're better off in leather. When I low sided at Barber, it put a hole in my textile jacket sleeve but barely scuffed my leather pants.
- Remove your mirrors
- Tape your headlights, tail light, turn signals, and reflectors.
- Yank your headlight and tail light fuse so the tape doesn't melt all over the place and make a mess.
- Remove your license plate.

Some tracks may also require you to safety wire some of your bolts (e.g. drain plugs) and remove your kickstand.

Xbullet,

http://jenningsgp.com/

http://www.roeblingroad.com/track.html

http://www.tgprace.com/

http://www.barbermotorsports.com/

Just a couple close by.

It really depends on the organizer what bike requirements are.

Buy good gear!!!

Leather one piece is my choice, if you get a two piece it has to have a 260 degree zipper(not that 6" one on the back of most) to be ok.

Leather over the ankle boots

Leather over the cuff gloves(gauntlet style)

Less than five year old helmet with no visible damage.

The Bike....

Most of the time just taping or removing all glass and lights, Pull fuses as stated above.

Good tires with 75% or more tread left

Remove tag

Remove sidestand, somtimes this is optional unless you are in the expert class.

I have not had to saftey wire yet for just a track day in the novice and intermidiate group. But Both drains, oil fill, oil filter are min. requirements for some.

We dont have to worry about coolant but if you bring a bike with it you must drain it and use Water Wetter.

Make sure there are no leaks and brakes are in good(great) working order.

And finally when I get back up and running I will see you on the track to waste some jap crap and make them feel small!!!

New12r -- thanx for the sites/info, as well.
any recommendations on manufacturers of leathers? A/S is awful expensive and Icon isn't far behind. that stuff's too flashy for me, anyway. i'm a flat black/plain leather kinda guy anyway...

I wear the A/S stuff myself, I found a good deal on my suit so I bought.

Icon is too "IN" for me.

Joe Rocket
Vanson(expensive tho)
Frank Thomas(I as well as other have had fitting issues) stuff is pretty cheap
Tecknic (sp?) Good stuff

What size are you, Glitch has a one piece all black Frank Thomas he has only wore a couple times I am sure he would sell for a fair price.

I think I recall Glitch saying he had a black one piece lether set.

For track time stuff, you can check out sport bike track time dot com, or (i think)personal track time dot com.

I have not yet been to a track day yet. Some of the guys I ride with go quite often, three of them are WERA racers, and use the track days to hone there skills with others on the track.
Their advice to me was to start out with a track like little taledaga, which both of the above track day sites schedule time at. It runs about $99 per day. Barber (in birmingham) runs about $230 per day. I have really wanted to go to a TD at road atlanta or barber.. so I may save up for one of those.

B_S.. man, that sux about the bike. But try to hold out until someone can crack it open and take a look. you may find that it isn't as bad as you think.

Yeah....I hear ya guys/gals. Thanks for the support. I'm just Fing pissed off. All that time spent on making it what it is today. This couldn't of been worse timing for me.

I'll at least tear it down to find out the damage. I just have NO time. Work has me strung waaaaayyy out. I'm gonna be needing the 3%er Pit Crew for assistance for sure. I'll try to get a schedule worked out with Sanchez.

If it is major damage then I will sell it.....I would love nothing more than Shred to bring it back to life it and keep it in the family.

If it is major damage then I will sell it..... Major is relative term, lets just see what's up and what's not.
Let's at least give it a good 3% try!

me again with the newbie questions...

what are the origins of the 3%ers? I'm very familiar with 1%ers and everything that goes with that ("only 1% of bikers are blah blah blah")

i'm guessing it has something to do with that, but.... wanted to get some more detail from the horse's mouth as to why a three percent. is there a figure that goes with it (3% of sportbike riders ride buell?) or did it just sound cool?

Just got back from a nice evenings ride. Ended up wet but still fun...

Shelley's not really mad she just wants her 30D and she deserves it. She said
"get me a 30D and then do what you want"

She taken a couple photography classes and has outgrown her old camera.

Xbullet, Get in touch with me when your ready for a track day.

I'm jones'n for some track time....

Pete/Torqer came up with the name when we started the club and at the time 3% of the H-D sales for the year where Buells. Theirs some more stuff you can find, look it up by searching for 3%ers

hey shred... i'm close to ready, just gotta get a little more seat time in with the whole GP shiftin' setup. 1 up, 4 down takes a little gettin' used to, but i can already see why so many guys switch to it. went 300 miles that way on saturday, so i'm starting to get locked into it.

by the time i get race leathers together ($$ i don't quite have) i'll have that left foot reprogrammed.

btw..thanx for the 3% info too.

Xbullet, I'm really happy with my Joe Rocket Blaster pants. I got the perforated ones, and they're more comfortable than jeans during the summer. They have better air flow, better ass padding, and better grip on the seat. I rode 1600 miles in them on one trip last August.

Well I for one, and I know there are others, would not feel right without Will on his bike that he has spent so much time and effort and passion on. I know the timing absolutely sucks on this one. Especially with MBIV around the corner.
In the spirit of keeping Will amongst the sane and helping his new youngster have a relaxed, stress-free Dad by helping him keep his horse, I am starting the "Help Black_Sunshine not ride Bitch anymore Fund". I know we've done this before for other folks here for other reasons and I feel this is just as appropriate as any other cause amongst friends.

I start the fund off with $100......Maybe once it's cracked open it won't take much but every little bit helps. Give generously folks!!

I know it seems overwhelming with work, a baby on the way, work, and a baby on the way, not to mention work and a baby on the way.

Things always look more overwhelming when babies are coming into the picture. It's funny how what you consider "overwhelming" changes after having children. The bike issue will then fall under "don't sweat the small stuff".

You've got time before MBIV and lots of offers of help. Can't ask for better friends than that. Don't throw in the towel until you know exactly what you have in front of you. It will all work out!
