I think it depends on how long you will be here. Goto http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com for answers it is a very good site.
You know I have always been told there's only two things in Texas or Tay-Has which one are you. Mark Twain also said if he was given Hell and Texas he would live in hell and rent out Texas.

This is cool!

Kirk, I am shocked and appalled at your shameless disregard of the female readers on our little site. Maybe you should consider sensitivity training or something along that line. In any case this will not be tolerated and we expect an apology will be posted by you soon. ;)
And now to something important, I know its raining but get in your cages anyway and come on out to the meeting tonight so you can get your plans for the summer set and have a little fun in the process. See you tonight, Sam

I want to summarize a few highlights (regarding upcoming events) from last nights Windy City BRAG Chapter meeting for those who weren't there. Not much time to act on some of these, so here they are and hope you can join:

SLIMY CRUD RUN - Sunday, May 04
Brent and others are trailering up there Saturday around 4:00PM. Roger and others are leaving from Highland House at 8:30am sharp(!) on Sunday. They will ride north, then east. Me and Karl plan on leaving Sunday around 8:00am from NW suburbs (TBA) and will ride Rt 31 to Rt 12 to ???. Call my mobile 708 373-5445 by Saturday night if you want to tag up with us somewhere along the way. I'll provide details when you call (and we figure them out).

DEAL'S GAP RESERVATION - May 10
Last day to contact Brent to reserve camping space at Fontana Village. After that date, non-chapter riders will be invited.

ALTON, IL RUN - May 16-18
RANDY has planned run to greater St. Louis area, leaving Friday 12:noon from Midway. Much riding, events, rodeo are planned.

STARVED ROCK BRUNCH RUN - Sunday, May 18
Chapter ride, meeting at IL-HD parking lot at 8:00am. Expect departure by 8:30am (dare I say sharp. Ha!). Reservations at 12:noon, and we need to hit that time pretty close. Ray and I will plan fun route to the lodge, with options for scenic, twisty and long way home via Rock River (Dixon, IL) on return trip. Lots of options. Reservations for 20, but let Ray/Nancy know if you'll join so we can better plan. It would be great if you would post your intentions here, also.

$20 DYNO BASELINE RUN - Thursday, June 5
IL-HD have graciously offered $20 DYNO runs to paid, active Windy City BRAG members at our next chapter meeting. Ride you wreck to the next meeting, and let's see what's in there. Starts at 5:00PM. Contact Sam or Mike @ IL-HD for more info.

.....and how could I forget to include this event???

IL-HD WEDNESDAY NIGHT RIDE - Wednesday, May 28
Monthly ride, meeting (leaving??) IL-HD parking lot at 8:00PM. In our meeting, the chapter decided it's best to plan early in order to have a good turnout of Buelloholics. Yeah, it's not easy, but make your plans now and commit so we are assured a good turnout....'cuase it's going to be fun.

Bomber,

I thought for sure we could beat you guys up there if you would just turn East.

Don't let this little screw-up diminish your trust in the club's official road captain. Does this mean I'm fired?

See ya Sunday.

Crud Run Update-----

Well once again, due to a mechanical failure, we never made it to Lealand. We did, however manage to get as far as Sauk Prarie Buell for free Hot dogs and chips!

We left Church, err, the Highland House at 8:30 Sharp nd headed up 12 towards WI. We picked up Cjmblast allong In Richmond where Fly and other buzzed on by.

Those of us without 12V Battery Operated Underwear froze our way up to Pine Woods, Um Pine Grove, Pine......Oh Yea, BLUFF! We got there a little late ane most of the folks have already pulled out. After a short break, we saddled up and headed west.

On the way, my RPM's got stuck at 4,000. After taking off the air cleaner, we discovered the my throttle body had broken. The shaft carying the butterfly valve had broken. We tried everything; Liquid Weld, Nuts and Bolts, and Bubblegum. Nothing Held. Finally, Roger got it worked out with a couple of Zip ties to give me a range of 3,000 to 4,000 RPM's. We limped to Sauk Buell where, of course you can't just by the shaft, you have to drop $100 on a whole new throttle body, and they don't have the part. Not to mention that the TPS would be all screwed up anyway. Also, it didn't look to be much of a parking lot job to begin with.

We decided that it would be best to stick to 12 all the way home and the boys (and girl) would follow me all the way (Thanks Guys!)

So my thanks goes out to Bomber and Roger for not only thinking of EVERYTHING but stuck with me until I got home. These guys will never let you down!

For all you other X1 Buellers, this is what was posted on the "X1 Files"..........

It started as what I thought was fuel starvation, possibly running out of fuel. I took off the air box to try to look at the throttle body, sure enough, the butterfly was jammed shut, and the pulley that the cables ride on was against the front head. I freed the stuck butterfly, and I thought I might try to limp the bike somewhere. I got it started and the vacuum in the throttle body pulled the broken shaft against the other piece, this resulted in a crude functioning throttle. It did not work too bad, I managed to get it up to highway speeds to ride to my dealer. I ordered a new throttle body and it has a larger diameter throttle shaft than the one that came on my 99 X1. The new one has a butterfly that is captured on both sides and the old one only has throttle shaft material on one side

Sorry to hear some of you guys had trouble at the Crud Run. Also sorry we didn't cross paths.

Adam, Brent (brentx1), Dan (yellowx1), and I (frankusm2) went up on Saturday and spent the night in the comfort of the Skyview Motel in quaint Prairie du Sac.

Refreshed after a sumptuous breakfast at the Eat Fast and Go restaurant we started off for the Crud Run.

Unfortunately, we headed the wrong way. You see, Brent had never started the CR at the "start"
point. I had never finished it at the "finish"...so...el Dictator led the way to ...Leland. Weren't too many bikes there (just our four, exactly) at 0930. So, after about 30 miles of damned curved and rolling roads, you'd think those cheezeheads would straighten them out, we decided to head for Saulk City Buell for directions.

After masterfully pushing the blame squarely off his own tiny shoulders, el Supremo led the way to...Pine Bluff.

Once there we ran into Marty and a several other Buelligans. Unfortunately, Marty and crew were going to chow down, so the four of us and Dave from Janesville hooked up with a group and headed for Leland.

One stop at S.C. Buell for hot dogs and then we saw the rowdies at Leland. Wheelies, burn outs and stoppies from the younger crowd, but the real treat was the full dress hog (two up) pulling a wheely into the crowd. After scattering everyone dumb enough to be standing on the shoulder of the road he wasn't to be outdone, so he did it again, this time almost breaking his front end from the impact.

Then there was the old Wehrmacht guy with the WWII era Africa Corps BMW/side car. The side car had a couple of MG42s. He was towing two ammo caissons and it looked like a 40mm AA gun. Quite impressive. The Beemer started with the first kick. Quite a diffenent crowd in Leland. We may have seen Don on his silver S3 a mile or so out of Leland.

All in all we had a great time. No break downs, no one bit the dust. Ran into rain around Rockford at 7.

The Crud Run was a riot! Bill, sorry to hear about your bike. It was great to see Marty and the boys. Did anyone run into Dave S. from Waterloo? I didn't realize we had a reputation at the Crud Run. When we pulled into Leland for the second time that day, a fellow bueller came up to me and said, " It's the Illinois Crew." Here are a few of the pics I took...
just gettin' there
This is just after we pulled in.
