Murrae,

Got your message. Sorry I don't answer the phone at those hours, but I'm asleep because I work nights. I will be there and have all the paperwork printed off and signed all ready too. If you get a chance, take a peek at the cold weather starting post I made in the ULY section. I know you have the '07 box and flash like me and I would like your input.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in advance.

I look forward to seeing you guys in class. I'm nursing an injured right forearm and riding on Saturday should be quite interesting.

Um... I'm reluctant to make the obvious, but very humorous, response.

Yes I know.......and I figured someone would. That would have at least made an interesting story instead of loading lumber on the trailer.

Anyone seen the new Fuell? I made it in 2 pictures. I see Zane in two, Murrae in two, Mabel in 3, Dr. Greg in one and a few other riders that I recognize, but don't remember names for. I believe the Red Tuber on the cover is a Colorado guy, but I'm not sure who is following him on the blue Firebolt.

I made Fuell in a couple of places. I'm the blue Firebolt on the front cover(looks like the road between Angel Fire and Taos)....and the lone rider shot from overhead on the high road.

As for the rider course... I'll be there nursing shoulder pain and related nerve issues. I'll be on meds. Sounds like Murrae is going to have a group of "walking wounded."

Hey- Thanks to everyone who attended the Skilled Rider Course this weekend. It seems we all had a great time and everyone claimed they learned something- instructors included. It is an honor to have the friends you ride with show up and trust you when you ask them to do challenging things with their motorcycles. I can do a "Buell" class anytime with enough advance warning and 5 riders minimum. I can also do the discount anytime.
Buellinabq- welcome to the craziness- if you think budque is bad for its size, come to Santa Fe! I look forward to meeting you and doing some miles.
JM-sorry we missed the chance to check out your bike after class- let me know when you can make it up here and we'll hook it up to the digital tech and make sure all is well. Sunday and Monday work best as service is closed those days during the winter and we can take out time.

Murrae,

Thanks for the class. It was very fun and definitely informative. I particularly liked the beer goggles.

Joel, sorry I didn't recognize you right away! I didn't recall seeing a pic of you on your BadWeb profile and wasn't sure who I was talking to online.

Joel & Nick, sorry about that weird move by San Felipe. I looked back and you all were in the other lane, so I thought I should get over too. Then when I did, that car was going like 10 mph. Wasn't sure if I was supposed to get off or stay on or what. All I could see was headlights in the mirror.

Anyway, hope to see everyone soon. I'm going to schedule a date in December when we can all get together at my place to set next year's ride schedule.

Thanks, again, Murrae!

I got in the other lane because of the jeep that hauling in the fast lane behind us... That was also about the time my fuel light came on so I was contemplating getting gas there but opted for Bernalillo.

I've been in the fast lane too many times when folks are heading south, eager to get back to the big city and and you have to do 90+ to keep from getting run over. As you know, we were only doing 75... ;)

Murrae,

Thanks for having the course this late in the season. It turned out to be a great day. However, the morning ride to SFHD was COLD!

I enjoyed the course. Most importantly, I had a chance to practice good techniques and get some constructive feedback... I'm thinking about doing it again - maybe with a different bike.

Murrae,
I work on those days. Maybe I can drop the bike off with you and you keep it for a few days to see how it acts when it's cold. We'll arrange something. Thanks for the scheduling the class for us. Is there anything you need to send me or anyone I need to contact for information on what we talked about? I'm pretty interested. My Brother has always told me I should do it too.

CJ,
No biggie, I'm pretty new to the group and with 3 small children will probably not get to ride nearly as much as I would like for people to recognize me. Don't worry about the weird move. I was mentally on target with Nick because that Jeep was eyeing getting between me and him at one point.

Everyone at class,
Just remember, What happens in Santa Fe, stays in Santa Fe! Some of you will have no problem recognizing me now.

Murrea, Thanks again for the class. It was a great to get some practice and work on all those ttechniques. That way I hopefully won't end up in a ditch when I come around a corner and find a hog truck in the road.

Everyone at class
It was great to see you all again and no worries, Joel, I'll always remember you as that guy who can really ride that Uly.

CJ,

Maybe we should get a hold of the CO group and see when they are planing their long weekend rides. I really had a great time meeting up with them and riding to Lake City in May.

Cheers
Kim

JM- Give me a call relative to the instruction. We have a class in February in Albuquerque, so if you're interested be in touch- I need to get you the material ASAP. 505-699-7539. On the bike, try putting the stock air cleaner back in and run it at 2800-3000 rpm in 4th or 5th for 2 or 3 miles so it recalibrates. Then reset the idle and let me know if this has any effect on the cold starts.
Folks- I think the Colorado idea is great. I usually check in with Dave K in Denver after we get a basic schedule worked out so we can plan some stuff together. I'm also planning on doing another wicked twistie next year- if Buell doesn't support it we'll move it to Taos and call it the Zia Thunder/Chick Hancock Invitational or something. I'm also thinking August. A Colorado ride in July would be great, maybe the same area as the BRAG rally in 2005? We could coordinate with Kim in Breckenridge.
I heard from Bart and he's OK-riding and working.
Be safe out there.

I just changed all the oils last night and then it snows today! That Formula+ is some thick stuff. WOW! It was really nice yesterday. Today it's pretty cold. It better warm up. I still don't have winter gloves or grip heaters. I think I want some AGV Sport Sierra but no local stores have any to try on. The Tour Master Winter Elite is too bulky. Same with the Alpinestars WR GoreTex. Ugg. Thought about the BMW Wintersport? Seems nice.

Okay, I went for a ride at 3:45. 14 miles, 2 on the highway. BRRRRRRRRRR The wind on the highway is crazy today. Moved me around a few times and it was just a mile each way on the highway. I've been home about 15 mins and I'm starting to feel my fingers again. hehe. I had to go for at least a little ride. Weather Underground says it's 30 with 14 mph wind making it 20 with windchill. My face and hands believe it!

Widder electric gloves...

I would think, seeing the snow on the mountain, that's it's pretty cold outside, and not a good day for a ride.

I live right by Tijeres canyon, and watching the semi's come through there dropping slush and all sorts of cold, frozen, chunks of snow/ice, tells me to leave the bike in the carport, and mix another drink.

;)

Wow! Riding today? Brave Man.

I'm with Bart, the bike in at home in the garage. I woke up to 3 inches of snow in Fanta Se, of course, up in Los Alamos there was nothing. At least not until this afternoon. Now there is about 4 inches on the ground here. I'm killin' time at work until most of the traffic is gone.

Bart,

Yup, almost 100% I still have a splint that I wear. The hand hurts if I have to use the clutch alot, but it is MUCH better then it was. It was really great to be back on the bike last weekend!

I waited for the road to dry up for a few hours before I went out. That's what scares me when it gets cold. I really don't want to hit any ice. But, geesh, I don't want to put the bike away for the winter either! I really need to get some warmer gloves, heated grips and to find my scarf (although my neck wasn't that cold, it was my face from air coming under the helmet. I have the HVMP extra heavy bar ends, nice, and I've heard the polly heaters will still work. That looks like the easiest heaters to install. I think they might be better than the other kind as with the other kind doesn't the wire move with the grip, which could eventually break the wire? I'm debating going out at 9pm tonight. PGR at the airport to a funeral home tonight. (meets at the end of George street, off of University if anyone else is going to show up). My wife will kill me if the ice doesn't get me first.

I'll meet you at the staging area, you can check out my Widder gloves.
The temps should be about 25 degrees by then, it's 28 here in Albq right now.

Yea, I didn't catch that post as I had already posted and was gearing up to leave.
There were two bikes, me on my city-X and another guy on his Geezer-glide. But both of us were wearing electrics so it wasn't so bad. About 15 people showed up.
It was an emotional moment for the family when they rolled out the casket. Kind of tough to stand there at attention, holding the flag and maintaining a salute when it was 20 degrees out.
The plane was about 45 minutes late, so it wasn't until 2200hrs, when the show got started. Kind of strange rolling through town, with a police escort on a frozen, deserted freeway that late at night.
but the family was grateful for out presence, and another soldier was brought home with the respect and dignity he deserved.
It was 18 degrees when I finally left the mortuary around 2330hrs. Glad I had the electrics. I can't praise them enough. The only part of me that got cold was my toes. I need to get some electric socks if I plan on doing more riding in below freezing weather.
The roads were clear, and no ice was present. It didn't start snowing in town until the wee hours of the morning, although it was snowing when I left my home up near Tramway around 1945 hrs.
Are you going to try to make it to the funeral on Friday morning? It will be a slow ride up to Santa Fe to the Veterans Memorial cemetary, but well worth it when you think of the sacrifice this young man made for his country...

Don't be ashamed of being a member of the PGR, and don't worry about mentioning it on the board.
It's been brought up many times on this board, Blake supports the PGR.

The majority of people on this board support the guard. We do what others wish they could.
Whether the current war is right or wrong is besides the point. The soldiers are just doing their job, and they, AND their families deserve all the support we can give them, it's the least we can do, for those that gave the ultimate sacrifice.

In my opinion, a cold ride at night, is little compared to giving one's life for their country.
