I plan to ride in the 27th Annual Midnight Run this Saturday 8 July 2006, leaving Des Plaines around 11:30pm. Always an enjoyable, entertaining late night ride.

Is anyone else going to be there?

See http://www.jerseypinecruisers.org/Midnighttour/tour.html for more details.

Hey It's Kurt Kraehmer here, sorry to hear that Sam's Jam has been cancelled and our chapter will not be officially riding out to the demo on the 22nd. However there were some of you that expressed interest in going out here's some info. The two remaining races for the 2006 Season are July 22, and the Finals on August 19th. Gates open at 5pm show starts at 7:15pm. Becareful and purchase tickets early the shows sell out; $16 in advance, $20 day of. Here's the description:Team demo style racing is fast and catastrophic, with 50 mph head-on collisions, heavy side swipes and cars totaled in just one hit. Team demo always has eight teams. Each team has four cars, squaring off two teams at a time, in a round-robin until there's a winner. To win the evening's event, the team must win three rounds.

The one-of-a-kind Team Demolition Derby will have four events at Route 66 Raceway with the fourth event serving as the Finals. Team Demos are a Saturday night favorite for fans who want to see an adrenaline pumping two hour spectacular where eight pro teams face off in what can only be described as roller derby with automobiles
All races are held at the Route 66 Raceway Dirt Oval. One 3 mi burn out of I-80 on Rte.66.
See you there; our team is team 1 Road Rage. RIDE ON!

Sturgis Who going this year? I know john had plan on going. I'm thinking about going with Troy, but pulling the bikes not riding could be little painful ride xb 800 miles. I think the pain would craze riding that far.

So I decided to enroll in The Ride Chicago advance class because it seemed different from the MSF advanced class which I already took. I get to class and meet the instructor Don who raced in Japan in Super Motard and was very successful and also was a Honda factory test rider. The syle he uses is S.R.T.T. which is initialism for Sport Riding Technical Traing which is used in Japan.

The first thing you learn is the way you have been stopping a bike is wrong. He said to only clutch at the last second because there is no chance of rear tire lock up if done that way.

The rest of the class you ride a huge parking lot course that has five skills built in weave, off-set weave, U turn, sweeping turn, and hard 90's. You learn to ride all of these without using any clutch, and steering really using your thighs.

When making the turns you are using trail-braking and throttle blips which I believe would really help you track riders. After you ride the course a few times he really challenges you and make you do the whole course with one hand. This really tests how you use your body to steer your bike with throttle control and rear break.

Another thing the instructor did that sounds weird is he took each member of the class and rode two up on his bike to show you the lines in the turn and breaking points.

This is an excellent class that is offered once a month and only cost $105.00 for a 6 hour class

Hey guys, sorry I haven't posted in a while. As I'm sure most of you know I busted up my ankle pretty badly and had to have surgery on it. I see Kurt posted that I've had to cancel Sam's Jam this year, no riding for me.
Hopefully I may be able to put something together before the end of the season. I'm starting to be able to get around a little now and will see everyone at the next meeting. I'll be back at work starting Aug 15th. See you all soon and be safe.
Sam

Windy City Brag'ers whats up?
Well I thank any of you who made it out to Route 66 raceway on the 22nd for Team Demolition Derby action, if you couldn't make it I encourage you to try and make the world finals August 19th. Any who, Our team Road Rage ended up winning the night once again. With this win, we have effectively locked up the points championship for the year. WORLD TEAM DEMO CHAMPS FOR 2006 ROAD RAGE!
As far as riding goes there is a Rocket Ride sponsord by Q101 and Chicago Cycle Center, that centers around crotch rockets, I wanted to go, save for the fact I will be working that day. The ride ends at CSC with a free concert from the band "SOiL" an excellent (semi national) local hard rock band. If interested register and info available at Q101.com or CSC's website. I've tried to distance my self from the crotch rocket crowd myself but a rides a ride and well I always enjoy a SOiL concert. That's what I know, and what I don't I'll have to learn. Latter and uh RIDE ON!

If anyone is possibly interested in riding out to Sycamore Speedway on Friday, September 1st I will be racing a Spectator Class stock car that night in Sycamore's final race of the season. Its something I've been interested in for a long time and I'm trying to get some people out there to watch. My number is "OOdx" (tentitive), '86 Monte Carlo. Sycamore Speedway is a short track-dirt oval which features spectator racing, figure eights and demos every friday night, although I will only be able to make it out on Sept. 1st. P.S. Does anyone have a Intake Manifold for a small block (305) Chevy?
Remember, Go #OOdx!

Hi Kids,
Tim is right, sure it quiet round' here.
Now that Greg and Sam are on the mend maybe we can plan some events, now that the weather seems to have cooled a little.

Up comming things to consider. Hope some or all of you can come.

Sunday the 27 is the AAIM ride.
<http://www.aaim1.org/events.asp> A very good cause, I hope you will join me.

Sunday September 10 is the only local CCS/ASRA race at the Autobahn near Joliet. <http://www.ccsracing.us/venues/2006/autobahn.html> A number of us went last year and had big fun. Mark it on your calendars, Sam maybe this can replace the demo derby and or dirt track races. I would volunteer to organize if there is sufficient interest.

The "Buell Day" track day at the Autobahn is Mon. Aug. 28th. From what I can see, it is sold out, so if you missed the registration, they may other dates that weekend. See you on the Monday. Last one was a great success, lunch, suspension tune, Buell giveaways etc. was really great.
<http://www.privatetracktime.com/events/>

Last track day.

Lastly, I found a great route to Lake Geneva last weekend. I would be happy to do it again, if anyone else enjoys going there.
Paul
