Yeah - it tore - I dogged it to test it - on to other hoses to test! - lol - the Crossroads are serious puppies - if she's looking to track day that puppy - ok - otherwise I'd go with the Banke for the comfort - lol - don't get me wrong - I like mine a lot, but others don't find them as comfey as the Banke - lol

u4,

I was reading another thread and someone was talking about how the early 03 ECM's didn't have the 'for race use only' stamped on them. You think thats what mine is(it is from feb 02)? Seems silly for the previous owner to have put on the muffler and filter with no race ECM. Does anyone know how to tell the difference?

Ed, what tore on it? What type of clamps were you using?

just wondering, as when we had the 4 foot sections we hung from one to test it's strength(not one we made boots from: ))
if it was a weird way we might be able to report it to the builder of the material and get them to engineer something that will prevent it?

I will look into the Banke controls, she is small and anything to get her legs back and up is good for her, hell i can't even get on with the stock controls and the clip ons I have to eend up shifting with my left hand....

Wes-quite possible! I'd get the number from off of it and call Daves at Appleton HD/Buell. Do you remember how to get to it?

I don't remember exactly where the ecm was. Do I just need to take off the front fairing or did we get to it after we popped the headlights off too?

Take the front fairing off, look at the headlight assembly. There are two bolts at the top holding them in, in between them is the ECM. Take those 2 bolts out and wall-ah the assembly will rotate down and forward(remember the 2 pivot bolts behind the assembly?) Look at the picture of you and Jim above, by his left hand knuckle is the pivot bolt, horizontally to his wrist is the mounting ear for the assembly. Looks the same on both sides. Just remeber to get the pivot bolts back in place.

Sportymark - it tore at the bottom where the carb spigot ended on the inside. - I was using Breeze heavy duty banded clamps to protect the hose - though a tad bit wider than the stock Breeze units they will not back out and the band protects the hose - so perfect for this type of application.

If she is real short then the Crossroads will probably be ok and they look great also - I always feel like a jockey on my Black bike till the first 50 miles or so- lol

Brad - Its 35 miles from Boone to Shady Valley up US421 and at least I hope to hit it while we are there in October. I like the run we made last time up US421 to Shady Valley then up the road with the natural bridge and then US58 back east and around back to Boone through BRP.

1313 - I knew I saw a familiar light out east! Do we still want to get a meeting in July off? I am pretty much done for the summer so I am open after next week when the school session is over.

Planning on playing hookie and riding Thursday if the Tropical Storm doesn't set in. Anyone out and about?

Sure wish I had photoshop to make this look better (and to play around with it more...):

Black and Red are the 2 most evil colors! Now you know why I like them...

Wes - I decided (who am I kidding, the bank statement did) the best thing to do was go to work. We will definitely have to ride together one day.

Went to Morrow Mtn yesterday. TJ rode her bike down from the summit and we went swimming for several hours. Went back to the summit with plans to eat a watermelon. Unfortunately I didn't have a knife. I figured my primative stone age ancestors sliced things with sharp rocks, so I could just go that route. Hint: they weren't as primitive as you might think. Resorted to the "drop and eat" method.

Just as I was leaving the park, Jim called and we arranged to meet for dinner. I met him at a resturant that was closed, so we drove to a second resturant. Which was also closed. Third resturant was OPEN! We ate and went back to his place. Since the kids had been swimming all afternoon, they of course decided that they wanted to spend a couple of hours in Jim's pool. Then we went to bed, woke up and went swimming again. Oh, and Jim & I decided to move a heavy piece of furniture which didn't fit through the door. We left it in the middle of Tonya's kitchen. Jim will have to let us know how that went over.

On the way back today we went through Southern Pines in search of Mike. We saw his house and his store, but no Mike. Perhaps some other time.

I'm going to sleep well tonight.

Thank you, Thank you!

I rode to work today and got caught by a thunderstorm on the way home. I was following a poor guy on a Gixxers as I saw the heavy rain in front of us. I opted to pull into a field as the lighting bolts fell and got on my great Harley rain gear. I pulled back out on the road just about the time the rain got to my location. I rode about a mile and road crews had traffic stopped and the poor guy on the Gixxer was now getting wet and only three cars in front of me. I felt sorry for him, but he did not seem to mind. The Pirelli tires did great. There were a couple of spots that the water crossed the road and I never felt it.

I got caught in the downpour today too. No raingear and light tan slacks and button down shirt and tie (tucked in). I didn't give a shit; just rode, got soaked, and grinned about it. Whatcha gonna do?

Nance, tell yer Mom we'll be there 8-17, 18, 19 (if you can get off). I've still got to see of I can get leave on the 18th. Man, can I show you some routes up there. We only scratched the surface before. I'm staying at the big tall hotel downtown on 8-15 and 16.
