wow, I don't know what these hours of '6' and '6:30' are, but they don't sound good. I'll call and leave a messege sometime a little later, I don't feel comfortable riding at 6 or 630 anyways untill I can get my headlights issue resolved.

I didn't think you liked XBs Brankin. Did I misunderstand?

It's not that I don't like XB's, it's that I don't like that Buell has not made a SPORT-touring variant of the XB based off the Firebolt or the XBRR. Am I the only one who thinks that the front fairing of an XBRR would be an AWESOME front fairing for a SPORT-touring machine? I can also see how saddlebags could be incorporated very easily to the shape of the XBRR tail section for a solo SPORT-touring machine. None of you are going to believe this, but I am stone-cold sober right now as I am typing this!

Everyone can talk until their blue in the face, but the Ulysses is NOT a SPORT-tourer to me. The Firebolt is pure BEAUTY, especially in Black and Red (my favorite colors)! In my eye the U(g)ly is just that, but that fits the type of bike it is perfectly.

Besides, when one owns the holy grail of Buell motorcycles (The S2! Did I really need to say it?), it's gotta take something really special to follow that up.

I guess the old saying is so appropriate here 'If I have to explain, you wouldn't understand.'.

The opinions voiced here are not necessarily the opinions of the management...I never thought I would be on the outer fringe of a group that is already on the outer fringe of the rest of society. I guess, once again, I am a member of an elite group...

I woke up at 6:00 this morning! And let me tell you - it SUCKED! I sure don't want to do that again for a REAL LONG time.

Usually on the weekends I try to make it to bed by 6:00 in the morning... That is MUCH better in my book!

Rock on!

Have you got the "Grail" (don't think we should call anything that has to do with Brankin "Holy"-to much lighting around here already)up and running yet? Needs another 100,000 on the odometer.

Apparently true.

Cause the sun comes up at about 5:30 these days.

Larry... I need six power outlets, two overhead lights, one outside light. I'll drill holes next Sat., maybe start insulation. If you make it through Greensboro any time soon and feel like making some dollars on the side, let me know. I can strip and install to help out. Let me know if you are interested.

My version of a double barrel shotgun:

Doubel Barrel shotgun

But the rifling pattern kinda sucks:

Scored! And NOT in a good way...

Once the cylinders get bored to match the new pistons it should be fairly quick. It sure was hot today when I was out in the garage removing the front cylinder. All I need to get the cylinders bored is the $$$ required. Why does is always seem that the $$$ is the most difficult part?

The outfit that will be boring the cylinders is on my way to Goldsboro. So it sounds like having to go to Goldsboro for a BRAG meeting might speed progress up a bit...

I like the Born to be wild picture of Rainey on the Blast! I think we need to put a 21" front tire on it and ape hangers, then it will be complete!

Just for the record, I was sooo close to joining you. If I had the brake parts for the M2 I just might have. This little hip thing that I have going on right now lends me to be more comfortable leaned forward so the Uly is not my bike of choice for long distances. Though the fact that you can stand up on it comfortably helps but people look at you weird when you pass them standing up at 60mph.

Well at least I knocked down the jungle around the house.

Hmmm...

Carlos, if you ever decide to do something like this with your M2, I think an intervention will be necessary...

Brankin,

You've counted the change in my pocket :-) I've talked to Matt at Trojan about a variant of your variant. I want a XBRR front fairing for the front of the Uly, but I've not decided on how to do the rear-end to still accommodate a passenger (not a deal breaker my any means, but a consideration.)

Al's so busy that he hasn't been able to complete the front fender and a stock XB front is IMO 20% to small,,,,looks 'OK,' but it's just fricking small.

I may end up with a Uly that's all jacked up, but it will be 'personalized.'

But Saturday we got Jim's bike back to %100 and have once again mastered the Helicoil

I am suprised you did not go with the 1250cc kit brankin, they have the one with the Axtel iron cylinders on sale for $750 at Nalin..

u4euh - answering a question - my red Blast has the B50/Proseries cam, a tuned WB exhaust and the Pro-series intake minus the pod filter and adding instead a stack filter and a tad of basic carb work - 45/175, needle shimed and slide polished - makes for a reliable bike with a lot more kick - Jim will tell you, and with the Banke rearsets and superbike bars - she's pretty comfey as well. My only problem has been to train other riders to keep their knee off the intake - lol - hope that answers your question. (As for the Black bike - she's conservatively maxed out - lol -)

Hey All, Back from the road. My son and I left from Southern Pines and headed to the NC/SC mountains to play and camp and then headed to Chattanooga (sp) and Nashville and picked up the Natchez Trace parkway and headed southwest through Tenn. and Mississippi. The trace is quite pretty. It's a long and winding empty road with lots of lazy creeks and historical significance. Next, we headed Southeast towards Mobil, Al. and down to the Gulf coast of Alabama. At Orange Beach. AL we met my wife, daughter and inlaws for several days on the beach. When I left the beach, Michael stayed as it's his once a year opportunity to see his cousins and maternal grandparents. I bee lined from Orange Beach, Al to Suches Ga, to again camp and play in the mountains. Had a great time at the TWO and the roads, as always, are like a playground. Headed towards Deals Gap and sliced the sidewall out of a NEW rear outside of Tellico Plains, TN and it was not repairable. Called BMW road service and they had someone there in less than an hour. They hauled me over the Cherola Skyway on a rolltop truck and delivered me (at no charge) to Wheeler's Cycles outside of Robbinsville, NC; exactly where I was headed anyway. Ken Wheeler (a great guy with a great shop) fitted a new rear and off to the Dragon I went. Made 8 passes through the Gap and hung out at the store. Ended up camping at the Gap as there was a crowd and it seemed to be the place to be. Lots of trash talking way into the night. As I was headed to my tent to crash, I heard the unmistakable sound of a Buell XB pull into the lot. I headed back down and yelled "I hear a Buell". It was XBrad9R on an XB12R with a Drummer. He was headed to Maryville TN in the middle of the night. Next morning had more runs through the Gap, hung out, took Hwy 28 from the gap and headed East. Great road. Bee lined it home once I got to Asheville. It was a great tour. Lots of high speed riding and few LEO's. Good times with the boy and a now very dirty bike. The bike was flawless. I wore a camelback hydration bag as it was hot and it really keeps you from getting tired. Longest day was 700.3 miles with Michael on the back. He was up for more. I wasn't. Top speed was 135, solo with all cases, and it had plenty more. Man, I'm ready to head back to the mountains.... it's friggen HOT here. Later.

Laura's blasr is just a modest Mod with the clip=ons the trak-tek air cleaner the Kerker exhaust and some of out little custom mods. It is fun as hell to ride, and Laura wants some crossroads rear sets, and f we get ambitious maybe a cam swap next year....

hey Rubber, I had a great time riding at the Gap with my wife, we made about four passes on Sunday and were melting away the rear tire on the steamin asphalt...great talking to a fellow Badwebber. Sounds like you had a fabulous trip, let me know if you ever want to give us421 (the snake) a run and I will try to join you.

check out the following sites for more info...

Most of you C3er's are probably familiar with this road...it's about 45 mins north of Wilkesboro.

Xbrad9r,

I actually prefer 421 over the Gap! I believe the fall run we are planning is in that neck of the woods. Look here...

Carlos,

We need to figure out when our next meeting is! I got an idea! Big surprise there, huh?
