I am am recalling it and don't have it in my stuff any more but it was written in a soldier magazine by a light col. from the JAG corp. It referes to a specific round that was around late WWI and WWII that was Russian/ Soviet that was .50 cal. The Military FMJ hardball round is specificly anti-personnel (very) This is just a military Urban Legend I believe. I am not ragging you just a little pet-peeve of mine. We also trained using the M2 against troops. I remember a specific Tank Gunnery engagement where the gunner had to engage troops with the 240 to the left with the main gun and the commander had to engage light armor and troops to the right with the M2. I specifically remember the order for the TC to really be careful and not cross the M2 over the main gun barrel and shoot off the damn thing. I'm talking about the M240 coax machine gun which is mounted along side the Main Gun and uses the main gun sights. We never were trained to use the 105 or 120mm Main Gun on troops. Light skinned vehicles but not troops. The main gun might not be all that effective against them. The coax and the M2 definately effective. My suggestion would be Starved Rock, perhaps including brunch. I could provide route maps that include long/short, fast/slow route options. Exit 69 or 70 I think. From there, take 196 across town to 96 east , get off at first exit (beltline), go north, this is m-44, follow it north, then west to the Grattan turn-off left.   Frankusm2 Posted on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 01:30 pm:        Fly, a late April weekend ride to Starved Rock sounds good to me. May is better. If everyone prefers April, that's ok, I'll still set it up. I just got my pictures developed from our Starved Rock trip last year. They look good. Things don't look too promising. I'm bailing, unless I can find some way (i.e. someone) to haul my bike up there. I'm not interested in riding there/back through bad weather, especially before/after time on the track. Let me know if any last minute "space" becomes available in whatever vehicle you are going to use for hauling your bike up there. I'll probably ride on Saturday afternoon too. Saturday is a bit more trickey for me because I gotta wait around the house for Marshall Fields to deliver a bed frame. You all know how that goes, sometime between 9 and 5 and we'll call you the day before to get you better info. So the best I can do is keep checking this site and post my cell # when I know more. I am curious, however, if Chatterbox users find the channels congested in urban areas, or if around many other riders. Also, what models have people bought and/or do you recommend we buy for the club? Collett Communications is another company that makes these things. See http://www.collettcommunicators.com for products. They are comparable to Chatterbox, but provide many more available channels because of the frequency they run at. What do you think?
