I'm Jesse James, bitch!

Is your tranny broken?
Not broken, but worn out. It's been acting up for most of the last year. I really started to notice not being able to find 3rd and 5th when Carlos and I were at TWO. Let me tell you, riding in the mountains is DEFINITELY NOT someplace you want to wonder if you will find 3rd gear when you let out the clutch. Either going up to or coming back down to could really throw one off their line and into dire consequences. It got so bad that the probabilities of engaging each gear were:
1st: 100%
2nd: 99.9%
3rd: 30%
4th: 99.9%
5th: 90%
I eventually figured out a way to actually find 3rd gear about 70% of the time, but it involved eliminating nearly all throttle input when letting the clutch out for 3rd - so it basically SUCKED! In short time it will all be a thing of the past. And, to boot, I will have the original transmission that I can rebuild in my spare time to be ready for my S2 when it approaches 200,000 miles...

if we put the smallish people in the back row.
To quote Bob Uecker (please don't tell me nobody knows who Bob Uecker is...) 'I must be in the front row...'. Heck it don't matter to me, pack us sardines as ye see fit.

To further whet some appetites, I received a small parcel from overseas in the mail today. I had assumed that the 3 items in the parcel were nearly impossible to get. I don't want to give it away although the fact that Spike and I will have to share ownership of one of the items may somewhat spoil the surprise for some. All I can say is 'Damn are they COOL!' I just love receiving Buell stuff in the mail!

My buddy, who worked the Seattle IMS Show and will be working the DC IMS Show had the following to say:
When I was in Seattle, anyone working the booth could give shirts away. Didn't need proof either. They told us to give them to owners. Large and X Large only. I am working Sat. night from 3:30 till 9:15 or Sun. 9:45 am till 1:30. Mary Jo (the boss) works Fri. nite and Sat. and Sun. mornings. Your best bet for extra shirts and stickers is to be discreet and show up on Saturday after 3:30.
Just to be sure though I would bring your registration or something that has your (Buell's) VIN on it.

Motor on,
1313

Dave, I'm still hoping we can do this w/o leaving a car anywhere. If that doesn't work out, we can leave one somewhere, but its only an hour to rocky mount. If we can manage that, then transfer one to Carlos truck, we will be ok.

Brankin,

Happy Friday the 13th man. Are you going to work tomorrow or did you pick it as one of your floating holidays?

Dave,

Gawd, I'm getting old, I remember when almost EVERYONE had vehicles that would hold at least five comfortably...............................

Oh how I long for my 1970 Chrysler 300 right now. Seats six, cruises at 120 mph comfortably.

Yes and the 300 was longer than the Suburban.

Larry,

Speaking of Snow..DC is calling for some possible Sat. night.

As long as it doesn't get to the bumpers, no problem. I have rope in the truck if I have to pull the Miata back, think of it like bumper skiing. Heck, you don't know the meaning of fun until you're crossed up in a 30 foot vehicle. I know Dave and Brankin know what I'm talking about.

Mike,

Lucky guys! If I didn't have to go to this darn race school, I'd be going with you. Sacrifices...

Yeah, Yeah, too many good things at once. We will be happy to report about our trip, you do the same. By the way, we need to start talking about Daytona. I wasn't sure if I was going to Daytona or March Madness, but Daytona is calling my name. We need to start planning.

Last thing!

They cut me off! I just got my copy of FUELL and they cut me off! If you look at the picture of the group in the lower right hand picture, you will find Kristi standing next to someone they cut in half. Yeah, that's me! You see what Buell does to Uly owners that take there tubers.

Cranked sideways rolling smoke or throwing rooster tails in a tank is almost more fun than should be allowed. Heck, the first stock car I drove was a full size Fury. Slamming that thing into a 20 deg banked turn at 100 mph was FUN!

Brankin, bite me. You have to sleep tomorrow night..............

Raleighites, do we have a vehicle plan of action yet, or do we need to call in back up transportation?

Rode the Lightning today, just to work and back. Dang it felt good!

We do not have a firm plan. My contingency plan is to put everyone in my car and move someone to Carloses truck in Rocky Mt. Its only an hour trip, so we should be able to endure that. Spike gets to sit in the middle, so thats an incentive for the Mazda to show up. If we end up taking my car, I need someone else to drive it back for me, since I won't be comming back with you all.

I heard there was a problem trying to get there though.American house holds don't have enough 5 passenger vehicles to accommodate friends and family or there are just too many friends and family.
So who is gonna bring their gear and ride the rack.

Oh common guys, back in the day my brother and I packed 16 of our closest friends into my mother's LTD wagon and drove 45 miles one way to Houston Woods. Man if we could get 18 people into a wagon, we could get five in a Miata, no problem.

Kristi says she put five in her Triumph Spitfire with the top up. Hell a Miata is a grand tourer in comparison to a Spitfire.

Aside from the oversized aftermarket front end the Miata should do just fine in the snow. I've had Miatas in the slushy stuff in years past, they're amazing little cars. About getting crossed up in 30ft vehicles- I have been crossed up in a ~20ft '85 Fleetwood coupe, which takes a bit of work when your *claimed* 125hp 4.1L V8 is only running on 7 cylinders.

Update on the car situation- the wife says she's fine with driving the Miata for the day as long as it will start. I'm confident the car will start just fine as long as I warm it up in the morning- it's only hard to start after sitting overnight. What I'm not confident with is the spongy brake pedal, so I'm going to need to properly bleed the brakes before I hand the car over to her. Bleeding won't take too long, but my only opportunity to do it is tomorrow evening. Assuming I can get that done we're set to take the 3.

Jim- can you post or email directions do your house? I'm fine to get to that K-mart, so you could just give directions from there. Also, did we pick a place to meet in Rocky Mt?

Too bad my hearse consumes too much gas and wouldn't be the most comfortable ride. I had 27 people in the car at one time - 3 in the front and 24 in the back. All for my fraternity to go out for bowling in College - well, it was THE rush event...

Carlos,
Daytona - I'm definitely there! Just like last year I only took Friday, March 10 off to ride down. One of these years I will have the vacation time to spend more time at Bike Week (or elsewhere)... Speaking of vacation, no tomorrow is not a vacation day for me, but considering how today was nearly a 12 hour day (did I mention before that my Thursday's SUCK?) I think I will be leaving very early in the afternoon tomorrow.

Brankin, bite me. You have to sleep tomorrow night..............
Not necessarily...As I always say, the only thing worse than Friday the 13th is Saturday the 14th... If I stay up drinking all night long on Friday the 13th it will just give me a bigger arsenal for the road trip.

The fun is just around the corner,

Brankin - Yeup, I was planning to do a re-do on last year. I will see if I can get March the 10th off. What was that check list? We have a full tank of gas, a half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we are wearing sunglasses. Hit it!

Mike,

I wish I could do both but I will not be able to. My goal for this year is to make a big event every two months. So I have already started. This month the IMS show, in March Daytona, then...

I would like to make a C3 event at my Father-in-law's place in Virginia by the Blue Ridge Parkway before he sells it. Snake Creek Rd, not as technical as 421 or the Dragon, but man it's like a roller coaster. The elevation changes are a kick in the pants. Carlee and I cruised down this road on the M2 and had a blast.

I want to go to T.W.O. again and ride with 3%ers again.

I want to go to the Brag event on this side of the country with Kristi again.

I'd like to make one of the Myrtle Beach Bike Weeks.

I want to make VIR - Formula USA race(not AMA)

I guess that's a good wish list. I'm flexible.

Brankin,

Happy 13th man!

That would be a awsome. It can't use any more gas than Carlos'es Surburban! If you want to take the Hearse, you are welcome to drive down tonight and crash at my place.

Spike, I sent you directions. Google says it takes 33 seconds to get from kmart to my house.

Everyone is meeting at my house at 6:00 am. That should put us in Rocky Mnt about 7:15. I believe the current plan is to call the other car on the cell when we are getting close. If someone could, put Carloses number from about in your phone. My phone is not always reliable.

So McDonald's or Harley Dealer? It really doesn't matter as we get close Jim, I will call you. I have your number and Spike's number so either way we'll let the finger's do the walking.
