HELMET UPDATE: Thanks to all for the info/advice as I looked into new helmets. I ended up getting the Accwhse.com blow-out deal on the Shoei X-Tec. I was worried about the fit, because they don't allow returns on clearance stuff. Good news, it fits great! Evidently the X-Tec line runs just a little bit smaller than the RF-800 I used to have. Perfect, whew! I can't believe I got a $700 helmet for about $200!! Y'all gotta check this place out! It was at the door in a couple days, too. I figure I'll keep wearing the old Arai until spring, then make the switch to the new Shoei. Kate says, she won't recognize me with a new helmet - lol. | ||

Bomber... Had a great time "South of the Border" with you, Grdskpr and Chi. Fantastic conversation topics. Well, except for the two minutes we spent on Dyna. LMAO!!! Am looking forward to next time. Thanks for the tip on the breather. That will be this weeks project. Then back to the dyno for the final adjustments. | ||

Bomber... All-Pro Motorsports, Waukesha, WI. Their head mechanic is well trained in all brands but is a Harley/Buell specialist. Got the referral from a number of local HOG members. Nice to be able to schedule "same week" and "service while you wait" appointments. They have access to all parts and my local HD/BMC dealer has excellent parts availability for specialty items. Bottom line, having spent a good portion of my life getting to know dealerships and their service departments intimately, I am duly impressed. FYI, I have limited mechanical interest/ability. When it comes time for bikes, I let the pro's do it. You know, the old "death or serious injury" disclaimer. Like the extra confidence it instills when I am pushing the limits. | ||

yeah . . .I realized that, to one extent or another, I enjoy mechanical objects most when I am ignorant of them . . .that said, I can't help get my fingers greasy . . . . .it's a slippey slope (for me) from changing a blown tailight buld to doin top end jobs in the kitchen . . . . . . thanks for the tip on the shop . . .. A friend and former Buell owner went to All-Pro once for a dyno run and said the guy didn't know how to run the dyno for a v-twin. Evidently, he only knew the inline fours. Does that make sense? His run netted a whopping 34 HP! Wish I remembered more details... Glad to hear that isn't the case now. I had them do some tune-up work on my dad's Yammy, and they did a great job for small $. | ||

Don . . . .although there are techniques for different scoots, it sounds like the tech that worked for your buddy flat didn't know how to run a dyno . . .that, or your buddy's buell was very sick! I'm looking for a joint with a dyno and a sniffer . . . . I've got the carb close to right, but since I don't have a "magic" tool in my roll cab like you do , I'd like to get it dialed in right . . . . not looking for a fire breather, but I'd like all the ewngine can do with the intake and exhaust I have, ya know? | ||

Bomber...I'll be doing the same once I get the Makuni flatslide & race air kit installed. I think I did a good job with the Thunderslide (at least the plugs look right). I've heard the flatslide presents a whole 'nother set of probs. Bill...How are the prices at All-Pro? The Harley performance shop in Janesville charges $52/hr for dyno tuning. Mennis | ||

Bomber, If your running the stock CV40, I have some M2 carb calibration recipes developed for different exhaust/intake modifications on an M2 I'd be happy to share with you if your interested (thats pretty much my day job). Don's currently running one of the recipe's and seems to be happy with it. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to dyno the bike as well, since every bike is an individual and responds slightly differently. I think we could get you 95% of the way there though.... Mister WFO I'm running the stock CV40, youbetcha (I'm trying to speak Wisconsin here . . .how'm my doin?) . . . I've presently got a dynojet thunderslide in there, but it's easily removed . . . . running a wileyco can (carbon if that makes a difference) . . . . . any and all offers of assistance are gratefully received when one has come to realize their limitations (which, as the father of a 17-year-old) is pretty much MY day job | ||

All Pro has a new dyno and diagnostics are great. You will have to call about their dyno rates. I combined the dyno tune with a 5000 mile service and bought a lot of parts from them at the same time. Additionally, after bike shopping for two years, I bought my X1 there. Really like the personalized service, much better than dealing with Neiman Marcus or Bloomingdales if you get my drift. Feel free to mention my name when calling. Who knows...you might get a free cup of coffee! | ||
