I'm still too broken up to talk about the untimely demise of one of the best Buells ever made (and Court can prove it). You'll have to buy me a beer to get any more information than that.

tell you what, we'll start with ONE beer, on Saturday night during next year's SPLASH, and then, if the story is as good as you say, we'll see about doing the keg o' micro-brew thing.

i LIKE micro-brew (and i can prove it :) )

Ok, It's time to stop crying over spilled milk (or wrecked Bikes). The future holds the promise of the Best to come!

I mean Motorcycles in general. There isn't a year that goes bye when I dont lust for my next Bike no matter what the brand.

Life shouldn't be limited to one in particular and with all the current flavors in all the Motorcycle world, one must reval in the thought's of tasting as many flavors as possible!!

Home today with thought's of riding! (to bad I have so many things to do, Bob

Could this be the event that sparked the demise of the tubers?

Actually, that is/was Lyle's bike. The untimely demise of tuber #2. I'm the guy sitting on the truck bumper with the crossed eyes.

Lyle and I did go around Mt. Rainier on our new bikes pretty briskly yesterday though. I'm sorry to say that I hadn't ever been up to Sunrise Lodge before. It's an absolutely wonderful 32 mile round side trip. It's just an up and back road with nothing to do when you get there but it's much more scenic and much less crowded than the roads to and from Paradise. Well worth the time.

Okay, I went and fouled the Ducati name. I now have official Buell parts on my Monster. The headlight that I broke was $150 as an X 1 part and $360 from Ducati. Well, the bucket was included with the Ducati part which I'm sure makes up for the other $210. Oh, and Bob, Modesto had the part in stock and installed it while I waited. It's interesting to see Buell and Ducati bikes in the same place too.

It sounds like much riding has been done lately and perhaps some real big plans for next year. Maybe I'll try to find a way to attend. I guess you guys must be experiencing some good weather which has me a bit jealous since I haven't been riding lately. It was 97 freaking degrees today and that can make for perfect evening rides but I just haven't found the time.

In keeping pace with some of the rest of you we added a bike to the stable. Yes, Kyle is now the proud owner of his very own XR50. And just so the record is straight, I wasn't the parent who looped it and put the first scratch on it. Now we have to work hard so we can catch up to cousin Cody. He's a bit of a trophy hog from what I can tell.

Defector from the Rain Forest,
Matt

Matt, Good to see your still alive!
We miss you at the Swiss and hope to see you soon. I expect you'll be pulling up in front of the house just before we go the the IMS in December huh?

Give Kyle a High Five for me and get him flogging it as much as possible.

yo Ducati boy! shows how clueless i am, as i didn't know you were down my direction -- Modesto is not far from Lake Isabella (relatively speaking).

it'd be cool to hook up with you some Sunday and vaporize some local twisties before winter sets in and the temps drop below 70 degrees ( brrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!! )

hey, do you know Danny? maybe we could ink him for this deal, too?

Scot - The headlight thing was just a pesky rock during my ride through Canada, nothing like what you see above. Good job on the super stock thing. Whats next? Open class or will it be midgets?

Ferris - I'm in Roseville and would certainly be interested in learnin' some of the more interesting roads in this part of the world. You can e-mail me or call 916-791-9179. Let's ride before the weather changes! (Oh, and for my other riding buddies in the Northwest... It's really not that nice here) ;)

Something fun happened yesterday morning and I thought I’d share it with you….

Every time I ride the bike I try to hit 80 mph at least once. No special reason for this, I just do. It’s a fun game to play, and it works out about three times out of four. It almost always works on the freeway, on the way to work and at 5:00 in the morning.

So there I was, at five in the morning on the way to work and on the freeway. The weather was somewhere between heavy fog and light rain, and the road was damp but not wet. I had been so busy wiping the drizzle off of my visor that I hadn’t had the time to get up to 80 mph, and I found myself within a mile of my exit. Traffic was starting to slow down, so I figured if I was going to do it at all, I had to do it now. I was cruising along at about 70 mph (4,000 rpm in 6th gear, ) and I rolled the throttle full open and sat back to enjoy the smooth burst of acceleration that I have come to expect from my RS.

That smooth burst of acceleration is just what I got for about one second, or maybe two. Then the bike hiccuped. Then it gagged, buckled, burped, farted and jumped.

I must still be in a Buell mindset because I thought for sure that the engine was self-distrusting.

I scanned the instrument cluster and saw the tachometer flying past the 5.5 mark heading north. Way north! And quickly too.

The hiccup was the rear tire breaking traction and the rest of the commotion was my nice, new, rock steady, long wheelbase, super stable, Sport Tour bike fish tailing all over the freeway at 75–80 mph.

With reflexes that a professional drag racer would be proud of, I immediately, and without a moments hesitation, soiled my shorts. Then I rolled off the throttle and drove very slowly the rest of the way to work.

I spent the rest of the day thinking about the owner of the speed shop that dyno’ed my bike last Saturday. He spent over 20 minutes showing me his pride and joy lime green 1200cc Kawasaki Ninjamobile. That bike is about equal parts Titanium, carbon fiber, and nitrous oxide. I don’t remember the exact number but I think he said it dyno’ed at over 250 H.P.

Riding a bike like that on a dry road must be like riding my RS in the rain. To be honest, fishtailing all over the freeway makes for a great story but it really wasn’t much fun. Seriously thinking about dying isn’t much fun.

My 2002 Triumph sprint RS “only” has 109 H.P. and 66 lb/ft of torque and I’m glad that it does. If I had a Suzuki Haysbusa I’d be dead and you wouldn’t be wasting your time reading this drivel. Praise God.
