DAve...Leave SLA early on the 12th and returning late on the 16th...I wonder if they will let you wait at the weigh station on 64 east?...Or have you come up with a better rendezvous point?...

Keith, sorry about option one but glad you're working on two...The problem with Patti's is you then have to get on the bike and ride another 250 miles...All I want to do after Patti's is sleep...What we could do is order a pork chop and split it eight ways...I can't believe this but I just looked up the NOC's website and they run the Ocoee until Nov 3...Brrrrrrr!...Ssearch for noc on the web...

See Ya!

Roger that Bob. The rest stop is about mile marker 22. I'm off exit 21 on IL 4. That's a good place or there's a AMOCO, Hardee's, McD's etc here in Lebanon...about 3 miles off I 64. We can gas and go from here or I can meet ya at the rest stop. Either way is cool.

Anybody wanna ride Friday or hook up for lunch? I'm off.

My Dad may attend the Deal's Gap event but from a spectator perspective. So I may head to SC afterwards for a day or two if things go well.

DAve,
Im off work tommorow but I need to put new rubbers on the bike. I may not have another day off before we leave. Work is crazy. Those suckers, emmm guest, just can't wait to blow their money.
Bob,
A lot of people don't. A lot of what I say, emmm type here is done so with humor in mind. Im used to folks not getting it. Hell even when face to face they don't. Most think I'm serious when in fact I'm having fun with them. Sarcasm is a great thing.
Sam,
I didn't mean to "preach". Just trying to let those going know that we want ALL to come home in one piece.
Bob again,
Has anyone contacted Knoxville H/D Buell to see if they might make someone available if we need some parts or fix'n over the weekend? Or at least find out their hours so we know when to show up if we need them.

Hey John, Kevin says to me today "Uh, there's been a bit of testosterone on the board lately, huh?"...But I think he knows we're kidding...And no shit, everyone, this is a "bring 'em back alive" road trip...Some of us are going to be riding the most technical roads we've ever experienced and a BIG reserve is required...It's just plain stupid to ride these roads balls to the wall if you're not real familiar with each corner...They're are a hell of a lot of surprises in the mountains...Okay, now I'm preaching...I need that little guy with the dunce cap above...Hey DAve...you're going to be thinking "no Toto, were not in Illinois anymore"...And, jeez, we're actually going to have riders with us from, gasp, Kansas...

Re Knoxville H-D/Buell...Keith informed me on my last trip that the owner did not have an interest in events that took place on the "other" side of the mountains...Keith was even suggesting that the rides could be to points of interest north and west of Knoxville that their HOG chapter rides to...Weeeell, DOH!...I know he understands that the attraction to the guys and gals is The Dragon and the surrounding roads but he has to at least give the "company line"...So, long story short...No support from the dealership...And I really can't blame them from a business point of view...As of right now I don't even think Keith will be there but who knows...I hadn't thought of putting their hours on the poop sheet but that's a very good idea so I'll get them off the web this evening...Hey, now I'm wondering if the "locals" aren't getting a bit miffed that their "secret" is out...Nah, probably not...It's probably just that they don't see the business reason to support the rally...

DAve...We're all waiting to see your dad ride bitch on The Dragon...We'll wait for you at the overlook and judge the result by how white his face is...The rest stop at mile 22 sounds great...From that point it's only 489 miles to DGMR...I think for the sake of everyones sanity we should try to ride it in 5 100 miles segments...That way no one will be too stressed and the gas thingy will work out fine...Let the scout show us the way...

Just before signing on here I received a phone call that was a survey...I "never" answer these things but this one was one, get ready,

BRAG...I couldn't believe it...On the whole, I answered the questions "very satisfied"...Regarding the web site, Fuel, Leslie's love life, etc...But the last question was not about BRAG but about Buell!...Well, HELL NO, I'm not satisfied with a company that discontinued 60 percent of their product line...One of which was the only one that addresses the "touring" that I am interested in...(as an aside, I can't wait to see how Sam packs his scoot...That is going to be an engineering marvel...We will take pics for Leslie)...And the S3T's go away when there's ST4s, ST1300, FJR1300, Futura, and John's fav K1200 soon to be 1300RS...

Okay, enough, already...I am getting pumped...Took Punpkin in to Kevin for some TLC re the muff, tires, etc...

Somebody suggest a meet time at the rest area, mile marker 22, east bound 64...

See Ya!

Bob

Bob,
I will let you know when we are heading out. Heather gets off work Wednesday at 6pm. We are still deciding whether or not she is making the entire trip. Either way we should be passing through STL either Wednesday night or Thursday morning. (probably wednesday night, I prefer those blurry eyed trips through the night when noone else is on the roads) I will let you know when our schedule is confirmed.

If the Knoxville dealer is not coming down for the rally we will have a vehicle avail to take bikes to them if the need arrises. Lets hope there is no need for it though! I completely agree with John and Bob on the fact that these are some very technical and dangerous roads. During last years event I saw several cases of banged up bikes and road rash on or around the dragon. If I remember correctly, one of our Buell people even needed to be air lifted out. Exuberance is a great thing, but I agree with thier sentiments, we want everyone to come back in one piece! Lets make this an all around great trip!

Hey guys,
Racerboy called me last night. He is black and blue and sore all over. He gave me some story about tripping over the dog in the dark and falling down the stairs. I heard that he was sitting on a 1150GS Adventurer and lost his balance. Lets see....it's Sept.1, he has 11 days to get well enough to ride.

Well, the trip and fall act was 3 a.m. Wed/Thur...The wrists feel much better and as a matter of fact Greg and I rode 220 miles today greatly aided by Ibuprofen (the stuff is amazing)...The left one is the big problem despite the right "stink" finger being the one with the broken tip...I can work the break fine with the right pointer...I didn't think I was going to make it when I started out from the house this afternoon...The clutch was really difficult but it seemed to loosen up and get stronger with use...By the end of the ride I was hardly noticing it...So, WHEW!...That was close...I now know what they meamn about the home being the most dangerous place, even when Shirley is happy...Deal's Gap, here we come!...Two busted trips in one year would have been a bit much, don't you think?...

There's a group getting together a ride from the Eureka QT tomorrow morning...When I find out the time I'll post it here...

See Ya!

OK...question, racerboy...What the hell does an old man like yerself do at 3 a.m. ?? LMAO jk, bud :) Lookin' forward to the trip :D:D:D I think Sam and myself are gonna try to shoot for leaving at 2 p.m. on Wednsday, I got the day off, so that's kind of Sam's time to fly...soooo, we ought to be there around 8ish I think, prolly a lil sooner. And just as a lil recap....Our AR trip was a hell of a good time :) Rode pretty much all day Saturday, and most of Sunday...Sam's brother-in-law had a slight fender bender with a ford countour....countoured his handlebar right across her trunk, hehe. And we was like 1/4 of a mile from our campsite getting ready to leave the place, LOL. He was fine, and the bike only suffered a broken turn signal (gave him one of my stock ones..same thing) and a lil scuffed paint on the front fender. Oh, and BTW...road 160 from MO to AR FUCKIN' RULES :) New favorite road for me, hehe. Even caught air once....what a rush :D We even got to take a fairy ride, woot woot! While on the fairy, we talked to some ol' dude ( no offense to the members at large ) that had literally a "whole bag of tricks to win beers off of" That guy cracked me up...he came prepared for the dull moments LOL.

Yo Griswald...sorry I haven't called ya...been busy as a mofo doin sidejobs...haven't been getting done working till around 11 p.m. :( I'll see about making some freetime so we can all get together and go for a lil putt :) SAM, you in?? How bout you Richie? Bill, you get your's back from the shop yet??

Well, that's all the beans I'm spilling this time...

Frank... that's ok I've very busy myself. Rode with Dave Tripp & Richie today, went up to Atcheson KS rood 9 to FF and 45 up the river.

For the KC group..... Just though I'd let you know Dave Tripp will be leaving us for Atlanta by the end of Sept. I have not received a firm date yet.

Sooo.... I thought maybe we should send him off with a KC ride & celebration!!

We should do it in conjunction with the HD KC open house Sept 21st.

KC group ... Also want to let everyone know about the Thursday night activities @ Paddy-O-Quiggles in Lee's Summit , I-470 to Woods Chapel Rd. turn left or west on Woods Chapel half mile on the right.

I guess Bill Cobb went last week and there were LOTs of bikes.

I'll contact Tripper in the next couple of days to have him reserve Sept. 21st for the KC factory open house and make a full day of it!!

Richie...That really looks good...Every M2 I've ever seen with a fairing really was nice...There is someone here with an orange one that was at one of our first meetings never to be heard from again...

Soooo, why aren't you doing Deal's Gap...You're going to miss one hell of a good time...

Tripper...Hotlanta is it?...Downtown ATL to Deal's Gap is about 190 miles...Suches GA is 82 miles...You're going to think you've died and gone to moto heaven...If you have a choice I'd be sure to try and live in a northeast 'burb...We'll all have to come and visit you'all now...

See Ya!
