Rusty,
that's awesome! I wish I could have made it. I love live bands. we had some friends stop by that evening, it was on my list of things to do that night. looks like you had a good time. Please let us know when you are doing it again!

everyone else,
My plans for the FBRAT are to ride up to Waterloo on Sunday, join the guys for dinner and tall tales, and then make the complete monday itenary. I think Derek Fugate and Bill Cobb will be joining me.

Griswold, that means at least two more for BBQ (D-wreck and Bildo)

Well I planned BIG on the BBQ so, I believe I have enough food and seating for 16 Hooligans!!!!

The Smokers will be billowing hickory starting tomorrow with Beef Brisket & boneless beef ribs !! As Brisket can take up to 12 hours to fully cook.

Monday I'll be smoking the rest, Baby back ribs and pork country style boneless ribs!!

I will have 3 coolers iced with water, cokes & beers!!

I think I'm prepared so far!!!

Maybe I'll have Mary meet us going through Lees Summit.....

[EDIT on 9/4/05] Well, Mary can't join us as we pass. The Blast is down with a locked rear brake. I was able to bleed enough off to make it back home today, but it locks up on each use when the bike is moving. I cannot take the rear master cylinder apart without replacement banjo washers and spring clips.

Chris, or anyone, how about we organize a day-long ride the the Renaissance Festival in Bonner Springs?

If we can get 10 or more adults, the tickets would be $11 (purchased en-block, in advance)

Is anyone interested? Say in a couple of weeks from now?

A clarification: 470 and 291 are the same road from Lees Summit to I-70.

So, the 2nd meeting point is tomorrow morning by 7am, at the Quick Trip at 291/woods chapel road, near Paddy O'Quigley's

Very interesting ride today as we escorted Ferris Beuller to Kansas City.

Don't tell the bike's owner that he wrecked it.
(just kidding

It was great riding, talking w/Jerry and the others, and BBQing. Yum!

I wish I could spend more time on the first two.

Dusty,

What do you mean HE wrecked it YOU were the one doing wheelies on it and went off the road into the trees and through the bob wire fence before you fell over on it when you went into the creek, lucky for you, the creek was only about 4 foot deep and we were able to drag you and the bike out of the creek before it got too messed up....

Shame on you 2. I know better, when it comes to your riding habits.

So tell me . . . . . how did it feel to be . . . . doing wheelies on it and went off the road into the trees and through the bob wire (and KEEF, it's Barbed wire) fence before you fell over on it when you went into the creek, lucky for you, the creek was only about 4 foot deep and we were able to drag you and the bike out of the creek before it got too messed up....

Just wanted to tell you guys:

Alex told me last night that it was "really cool coming around that corner and seeing all those Bikes waiting for us"

He was really impressed with the showing from KC and made a point to mention it to me. thought I would pass it on is all. I was glad you guys all came out to! and it definitely was cool! It was great seeing everybody together and having fun, kinda like the old days, just riding and making fun of each other.

nice work!

Dusty,

It's not always about the fun you are having...
sometimes it's about the fun others are having at your expense.

Quit being so selfish.

On a side note: those of you involved in the near pile-up have an opportunity to learn a very cheap lesson here. what were YOU doing wrong? following too close? focused on the rider in front of you and not the road ahead? Didn't leave yourself an out(at all times)? I'm not pointing fingers here, 'cause I didn't see nuffin.
Any rider at any time should be able to slam on his/her brakes, move within his/her lane, and not cause an incident like the one you ladies had. my take on it for what it's worth. when I say cheap I mean it. adjust your riding style not your mechanics/doctors wallet. sorry again for being immature and inconsiderate as all hell and wheelie-ing through your accident scene

When a guy is wheeliyng near you and the torque reaction is driving him into your lane as he passes...

MOVE OVER!

I think all us newbies learned a $hitload yesterday. Learned how to corner better, learned how much fun the presents of good friend is. Learned how to throttle up wheelies while cresting a hill. Last but not least learned that paying attention will save your a$$!!

Amen, and Sam you are correct sir.... We were all guilty at one time or another of not leaving enough room or an out...As far as the wheelie goes it's only in bad taste if someones down, other wise it's all good....I had a great time and look forward to everyone gettin' out again and tearin' up some more roads.

I don’t quite know where to post this in KC so I’ll put it on both threads…

First of all…FRANK, where the hell were you?…I really enjoyed meeting everyone, most for the first time and, as I said, it is really neat to see (not to mention hear) all of your rides…And Rich, I was sincere in what I said re the Orange Blossom Special in that it is much better looking in person than in film…

Sam…What can I say as it is always great fun when we’re together…Like I said, there were two things missing…Frank and John…And I was kind of looking forward to meeting Dennis, but?…And those roads at the top of the state really surprised me…None too technical until 87 but some damn good pavement and sweepers that you could mostly see all the way thru…And that was a bit of fun when Jerry took off on 87…

Here’s the info on the detailing product I was telling you about:

http://www.corrosionx.com/rejex.html

And here’s the info on the October Arkansas excursion:

It was great meeting all of you guys, you've got an awesome group of guys. Mistakes happen, but we all learned, no one was hurt and we only had one guy testing the off road capabilities of an XB.

Next time you guys tear up those roads, let me know. I'm about the same distance from the top as you are... I'd come down for sure.

OK Folks Listen up.

I am trying to organize a ride to the Renaissance Festival in Bonner Springs.

See: http://www.kcrenfest.com

If we can get 10 or more adults, we can pre-order the tickets for $11 each.

I was thinking about the Weekend of 24 September, either Sat or Sun. Ride out early. Spend 4 or 5 hours there, then ride back.

So, sound off and let me know if you want to go, and which day you would prefer. I won't do this unless we get 11 firm commitments for the ride. (That allows one to bail and we still get the good price.)

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Normally I don't say much about the dealership on here, but... Saturday we're having 911 Memorial ride, with donations going to Katrina relief. Also the dealership itself is donating 10% of all sales from Saturday (including bikes) to the disaster relief. People's choice bike show, stuff for kids, food, come on out.

Thanks

Chris

I rode to Leavenworth to work this morning and met a GI on a new CityX, Ranger named Joel, I gave him a bastard stepchild patch and told him about the Badweb, both of us parked in a little traffic meridian in the middle of the entry to Ft Leavenworth, then we both went to work, rode home today on hiway 5, always a fun ride. I got the FXR head back from the machinist having to put a thread insert in the sparkplug hole. Bought the gasket set yesterday and am going to try and get it running this weekend.
My company asked me today about going to Mississippi, many details to meet my satisfaction before I sign on to do that trip.Disgruntled Gnome Production
