Yea, I am on my second set but the jury is still out regarding mileage...Like the idiot that I am, I forgot to note the mileage when the first ones were spooned on but they seemed to not get nearly as good as the 205's...Current set has about 2,000 miles on and I think I only got 4,000 out of the first set...They were put on just before the, um, California trip...They wouldn't have made the whole trip...'Course I didn't make the whole trip either...Otherwise I am happy with wet weather, rain grove, tar snake and traction characteristics...

Hey John, I hurled that sandwich just after getting home...Don't think it was the food but rather the heat today on top of yesterday...As you noted, I looked like hell and felt like it...Man, that sandwich was not good the second time...

You guys need to check out the discussion on the HSTA site, if you haven't already done so as we had another rider down yesterday...Newbie to the group on a Monster...The one they made for a while with the chrome tank...He goes off the road in a left turner (see Kevin, others do that too) and the scoot end up tits up resting on it's bars and seat...Both brake reservoirs gone, bent bars, dented tank and a really bad looking right side...Oh, the rider you ask?...A small ding on his forhead...

See Ya!

Bob

Duck ding alert! Never follow the rider ahead when he goes offroading.

DAve,
When in doubt, always go bigger, and use more than one.

Racerboy,
Did you do that before or after you took your helmet off?

All,
Go here if your a big boy and what a good deal:
Buell suit or if leather is your thing leather pants

Thankfully, it was after the lid was off...Actually I had even taken a shower...Feel much better today...Jeez was it HOT or what?...Doesn't help that I have somehow managed to gain about ten pounds since May...Too many pork chops and Ted Drewes...Speaking of which, tomorrow night is TD's at 9 p.m. again...I'll broadcast an email this afternoon after lunch...

See Ya!

Thunder, got em saved on my phone...I had a run in with a few right hooks, so as soon as I can fit my helmet on my headbone again, I'll give ya a shout. Prolly this weekend sometime for sure They're having Buells again this year? That's where I had my first love affair with Buells a couple years ago. Rode an S3T. Been a fan ever since, hehe. They let me ride a Lightning the year after that...or wait...did I cut in line? heehee.
So which ones of you old farts are goin to AR? I know the other whipersnapper(Sam), and myself are in(not sure if he's gonna run with the "other" guys or what tho)

Frank

p.s. Oh by the way...The M2 and M2L have totally different shocks, different part numbers anyway. The front bracket is the same. So anyone with a Penske that wants to trade?? LOL

Well, I had a little excitement today. I rode some this morning and ended up in Rolla where I met up with some of the HSTA group there. On my way back, I made a stop at the NAPA store in St. Clair to pick up some aluminum crush washers I had on order. I have been having some problems with my air cleaner support bracket ever since I put the mikuni on. The air cleaner I have is heavier than the Buell race cleaner, and with that extra weight and the fact that the mikuni uses an adapter between the carb and the support bracket, I have been breaking the bracket from vibration. I bought another bracket and put it on. I then bought a Buell race air cleaner. While I was waiting for it to show up, I decided to ride without an air cleaner for a day or two. Well, as I was leaving the NAPA store, my bike died. I looked down and there it was! A f***ing fire trying to burn up my right leg, tank, and the whole damn bike. I was concerned that the tank might melt, so I laid the bike over on its left side so the flames would not melt it. I started ripping off clothes and tried to smother the flames with not much luck. I thought it was going to burn to the ground. Lucky for me a lady that had seen the whole thing walks up and ask me if I wanted her two large bottles of water. At first I thought no, but then decided what the hell. I might as well try the water. I poured the water down the carb and all around it. Lots of steam and such but the flames died. I thanked her profusely and then got the bike back up on the kickstand. I put my shirt, jacket, and helmet back on and started the bike. When I got home my new air cleaner had arrived.
Thank goodness.

I know how you guys think. When you read "Lucky for me a lady that had seen the whole thing walks up and ask me if I wanted her two large.....". You thought I was going to say something else didn't you?

Damn JOhn!!!! Talk about your flame jobs! ...

Shit man ... glad you and the beast came out unscathed. My brother lost his ~'75 Triumph Bonneville from a carb flame. Burnt up the bike and the shed he was in.

And you're right ... some how I knew her knockers were gonna be involved somehow. :) Glad you're okay

I've been workin' on the S1W today. Starter solenoid, clutch cable, primary tensioner, etc. Takin' a break before I fire it up. hehehe Bad choice of words.

Just a little catching up.
Josh: No I'm not in STL this week or last.
Bob: Sounds like you need some T.D. to settle your system.
DAve: The knee bone is connected to the starter and the relay is ...... you get the picture.
Paul: You SUCK (He got to go home on Friday and is spending the weekend riding!
John: I am dissapointed with no reference to female anatomy in your fire story (That really is a {HOT paint job).

GOt to go time running out

John,

If I remember correctly. One of the paint schemes you were looking at this winter was flames. If you are so set on that idea, I'd really go the route that you were thinking of this winter over the current method! :)

The ride to Sturgis was great. The only real set back Bill and I had is we stopped to get something to drink 60 miles west of Souix Falls and while we were inside, somebody stole my bags off my bike.So........ had to drive back to Sioux Falls, find some bags, then get all geared up AGAIN.It ended up to be about a 3 1/2 hour delay, but because of the delay we were spared riding thru a really nasty thunderstorm with hail.It was said to be the worst storm of the year for those folks.Ive got a question,I installed the nallins big bore kit,4000 miles on it everything was a-ok.I was about 1/2 quart down at oil changes. After our ride in the Ozarks, something happened!I checked my oil riding to Sturgis and I seem to be riding a two stroke!I am now blowing a quart every 300 miles out of the crank vent!Called Millennium, called Total seal, they agree there is a problem,am waiting to do a leak down and compression test to see whats up.Maybe our riding at a sustained high speed either wore the rings or the cylinders?Anybody heard of this happening? My stock set up never gave me a bit of problem, but this is messed up!

Hope it is something as simple as an umbrella valve. I doubt if it is the cylinders. Those things are super tough. Rings... maybe. Pistons....maybe. You say it is coming out of the crankcase vent tube. If you mean the vent for the trans, then the seal on the primary side has failed. It will allow the engine oil into the trans. Simple fix. It happened to me on a trip to WV. It took the dealer in Lexington Ky. about 2 hrs to fix.

I have been dealing with this for quite some time. UN-modified engine started blowing oil out the trans vent tube at about 12K miles. I put new pistons, new rings twice, new valve seals, new valve seats, crank seal, relocated breather hole on trans.....and I am still fighting this. good luck.

The oil is blowing out of the vent holes in the head that hold the carb. bracket on!
