Dave, Sam and all the crew at IL H-D/Buell: Thanks for putting together a great Track Day at Blackhawk!
It was great to see, talk and ride with everyone.
One complaint:

I got to see first hand just how bad a rider I am. The good news is: I've got nowhere to go but up.

Looking forward to Starved Rock next Sunday. Also, there may be another Track Day July 22. If anyone is up for it, Zac and I will go.

Frank -

I'm down on the track day on the 22nd. Bobby, Let's Go!!!! Kev - you need to round out your tire a little more. Rick Bruer (sp?) said that there are not allot of people that show up. About half of a standard track day.

Frank - Do you know the details? do they still provide lunch and water?

Roger, bolt worked fine. Went to Hals & picked up a new shift peg, they have enough parts in stock to build an entire bike. Cost was $6.83.
I definately think my boot holding the bike up is what saved the rest of the shifter setup. Thats why I didnt even try to pull my leg out from under it, figured I would let Bomber do the heavy lifting Good thing about lowsiding at battletrax is I only fell about 8" & going under 10 mph.

Thanks to you & your bag of parts tho you saved the day

Paladin, nope Roger had no breakdowns, of course their wasnt much left on his bike to breakdow. S3's look very weird without the front fairing & leaving the mirrors & signals hanging out in space like that. I have pics of Roger & Bomber on the course, gonna get them developed later today. Hopefully I can remember how & post a few later.

You were looking great out there. You have improved so much since the first event, times are really coming down. Keep that up & give mike on the blue m2 a run for his money

Actually, the plan is to tie a boat anchor to his tailsection and have him drag that around behind him. I figure we only need to slow him down by 4 seconds or so.

He does do well on that blue bike though.

grin . . . .. . . i keep trying to get the BTrax folks to add a class . . . anyone who can actually remember, first hand, the Johnson administration gets 3 seconds cut from their times

i keep telling myself i ain't racing anyone but myself . . .and that's a good thing, cuz i'm easy to beat!

i'm learning alot from this gig, too bad it's not better attended, as everyone can stand to improve their skills (for instance, I'm finally convinced that I need to get my ass off the seat . . . .even with all the front tire used up, us-assing cut serious time from my laps . . . . .I guess it's time to learn new tricks, yes? although, if it was good enough for Mike Hailwood . . . . .)

I'm thinkin of doin an piece for a magazine or three (got proposals out to one at the moment) on BTrax . . . . . if anyone has pictures they'd like to see published (nothing for sure yet, and mebbe the price of a sixpack in return ), lemme know

btw . . .thanks to all for the kind words, coaching, and sharing of lines . . . .this is a greata group of folks to ride with . . .perhpas we should get together off the Btrax sometime this summer . . . .Holy Hill are, Kettle Morraine, P du C?

I will say this, as bad as the Pilgrim Road layout always is for tar strips, getting around that track will really help you learn to control the bike on the street. There is one offramp near me where it is 30%-50% tar snakes. Looks like someone jackhammered the roadway, and instead of redoing the road they just goo'd the chunks back down (I-45 north, one exit past hwy-60).

Rick at Hal's is always looking for ideas for group rides, and he really seems to like multi-club rides.

The laydown the H-D rider took was probably the most spectacular one I've seen at a B-Trax. Got a real good slide and spin out of the bike. Glad he didn't get hurt, and came away with only minor damage to the bike. I think his lady friend was more upset than he was.

Definately need to get together & go for a great ride. We will see what randall comes up with also. The wideglides lady friend was so pissed off we he went down And for the great slide show it put on, Mike is right, the damage was minimal.

I agree we need more people to attend, the competition is fun, but its meeting all the new people & then continuing to meet them week after week thats the good part.

Hey Rodger, would you or any one else for that matter, be holding a used brake pedel for an S-3? If so and you want to part with it let me know. Maybe at Starvedrock run or next chapter meeting. Thanks, latter Steve
