Thanks Sporty, Hope to actually get to ride with some of you guys this year. Last year by the time I got past the flying gravel half the pack or more was gone. This time I hope to not be two up, but we will see. I would love to see Tracie out there doing it on her own, but not gonna push it.

PS. Still looking for anyone who would be interested in the purchase of a GMRS Style Chatterbox system (bike to bike or course)
Tracie and I still need to purchase ours for the trip and we can get them cheaper if we buy several of them.

Deb it was nice to have you over! Thank you for the gifts. I hope that you are doing OK. Remember racing in the rain teaches you more (I was told that by one of the Team Oregon guys). Racer girl, I think you are!

Kim & Mike, Sorry we did not make it out last weekend. So much to do and not enough time. Chris still has a few small repairs to do to the bike and then it will be ready for the track. Maybe next time. Thinking of you and the family.

Just got off the phone with Mike Wood. He informed me his step father passed away on Sunday. Thankfully he was able to get to the hospital in time. Just wanted everyone to know what was happening. The services will be on Sunday. Anyway our thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this time. Deb

Dieing is such a drag.

Up to this point I've lead a very sheltered life. Very few people that I've been close to have passed away and I dread the day to come when it all catches up to me.

My own step father passed away a few years ago and at first everybody was extra kind and properly sympathetic toward my mother, but time passes, life marches on and it wasn't long before the friends and relatives seemed to forget that Pop had ever been alive. That's when my mothers real sadness and heartache set in.

I think I'm the only one that calls Mom on Pops birthday or the anniversary of his death. In a way it's kind of macabre to talk about the dead but the memories are still alive and the love they shared is still very real. She seems to enjoy talking about the good times they had together and I know I enjoy celebrating his life and his positive influence on me.

I think, in a way, that we don't really die until the last person that remembers us or has been influenced by us passes from this earth. As long as someone, somewhere can trace a direct line from the present to the past, the past still exists.

That's why it's so important to beat your kids unmercifully so they'll tell their kids and their kids will tell their kids what a rotten guy you were and you'll live for generations and generations to come. Just ask Lyle or his sister Bethany. I'm going to live forever.

Hey Roc, are you sure that is a S2 set of forks on my S1? I am looking at some new Race Tech Springs and I think there is a difference between the two?

Anyone here installed the enduro engineering heated grips? I looked all over and can't seem to find any pictures, or any type of real instructions. They give ya a wiring diagram and that is it. How do you get the wires past the controls? I mean the left side is easy, it doesn't have to move at all. You could just take the wires through the end of the bar and down, drill a hole and pull it out. But, I have bar end mirrors so I can't run the wires at the end of the bars. So then I started thinking, Ok, just have the wires facing the opposite way and drill a hole in the bars, go down into the bar, drill another hole at the base and bring the wire out, Well what do you do on the throttle side? the grip has to move. If you make a slot for it to ride in then it would make the bar really weak. I don't know how the hell they are supposed to go????? HELP HELP....

S1H, it does not matter, because it's almost SUMMER my friend. You are seemingly working on a cold weather project, and this needed to be brought to your attention.

S1H – I seem to remember that your S1’s forks had red plastic adjusters on the top of the forks and also down near the axle, this is just like my S2 and a far departure from my old S1.

FMJ – Does the above mesh with your S2 experience?

S1H – Ditch the grip heaters you have on Ebay, I don’t think you can use them with bar ends and that type of mirror belongs on an S1. Buy the “Super Polly Grip Heaters” – the Polaris shop in Boring, maybe Damascus but in that area, sells them for around $25. They are a small canister with leads running to it, inside type affair with no wrap around. They are made for snow mobiles and some use an 8 ohm resister with them, I just turn them off when I use thin gloves and my hands start to hurt.

yeah they have he adjusters on both the top and bottoms and the legs are sorta an goldish color, where as most the S1's I have seen have had the more silver looking ones.

Ill have to check out your setup next time Roc, you have heated on the XB?

The S2 has the wrap/tape type of grip heater and the XB has the canister type. The canister type were cheaper and they are better.

Folks in Portland might want to grab a (free) copy of the Mercury (Portland's Alternative Alternative Weekly) as it's their first Motorcycle and Scooter issue. Not a heck of a lot of content, although the article on a recent City of Portland forum to discuss motorcycle and scooter issues was kind of funny. But they did do a pretty nice resource guide pull-out with a club guide and a really complete racing calendar.

G'dsy from Texas Queensland Australia.
We have completed the move from Sydney and settled into country life very well. All are very relaxed and happy.
As we have moved around 600 miles North, the summer is around a month longer and winter has not hit us with any cold weather......yet.
Work at Australias biggest cattle feedlot is quite exiting. We have mainly Wagyu cattle all for the Japanese market.
Riding around here has good to ordinary roads even though the speed needs to be kept at a sensible level because of the wild life eg birds, kangaroos, pigs etc.
Its good to hear that your summer is on its way and you can relish the warmer riding season.
Be safe and enjoy

Gaz & Susie.
