Can anybody tell me which is positive and which is negative?
I've got a Screamin Eagle coil (pt# 31653-97) and due to the Company's infinite wisdom they dont mark the terminals positive or negative, just "reconnect ring terminals in the same locations from which they were removed". I do not have these wires so there is no way I could know.
Coil fits "1983 and later HD motorcycles with dual fire electronic ignition. Does not include 1995 and later EFI models or XL 1200S (single fire) models." Its also listed as fitting 84-99 carb Evo models and 86-03 XL models. There is an exact picture of the coil at "shop HD online".

So maybe if someone is using this coil they can look at the wires or if they are using a stock coil they could look at the wires. The fax/scanner is down so I'm also without a way to post a picture: (

It is going on a Buell!
Thanks for any help.

I could be wrong, but I don't think it matters.

Well the instructions indicate it does, but I also believe it will work either way. The wrong way just gets much less voltage to the plug.

I contacted one of my Blastard friends on the Thumper side who I remembered has a Sportster and he talked me through the XL wiring diagram. I think I have it right (it works anyway), but I wish there were a definite way to know or test it (I did find a test 'online' with a #2 pencil, but havent tried it yet).

Sure would be nice if Screamin Eagle had a 'helpline' (or does it?). Some of the instructions leave out too much important information especially considering a high performance application.

Thanks for the response RT.

Sweeet! Thats what I'm looking for. It'll have to wait for testing till my day off.
Thanks, Saro.
