I bought my XB9SX from the dealer mentioned earlier, (HD of Ocala, Florida,) where there was only $500 difference between the CityX and the XB12. I drove down there to buy the 12, but came home with the 9SX. (I am too lazy to keep the gold wheels clean.) IMHO, get the bike with the looks you want. Unless you are a champion race jock, either bike can perform beyond your means and dreams, bone stock. You will have a ball gaining new skills with either one. Enjoy!

Black Sunshine...Thanks. Peeked at the website. Still in progress, but looks neat. Where does the 3% come in? I am thinking it stands for something?

Hey guys, thanks for all your inputs. look like I'm heading for a 9, I'll use the extra money for the race kit and a few changes like replacing the hero blue with black body work and get some cool bars, motocross style!!! This should happen this week. BTW black_sunshine, you got a hot lookin bike, I cant wait to see it in person!!

I think someone once posted figures showing that Buell then amounted to 3% of Harley sales?
Something like that if I remember right.

You're gonna love it. After you get it, if you can stop riding it long enough to take some pics please post them.

I've had no regrets in purchasing a 9 instead of a 12 (of course the 12 came out a month after I got my 9!) I've been enjoying my bike for over a year and have slowly been modding it...K&N, 12 airbox, CR250 motocross bars, and now a Jardine. Next is the Techlusion! IMHO you'll be more than happy with a 9. Let the insanity begin!

Had a M2 and a 9R. Now I have a 12s. The 9 revs quicker and higher. The 12 revs stronger and the response is more agressive. The 9 is an easier bike but the 12 is the absolute Buell (don't get this wrong but if you owned an older 1200 and got your legs over a Xb9, the first thing you missed was the brute torque that this platform produces). If you ride both bikes within minutes you will see that the 9 with mods (ECU, muffler and air filter) runs almost as fast as a stock 12. But that 'almost' makes a big difference going out of corners... (plus there is no hole at 4500rpm).

Buy a 9 if you don't like the power just take it down and install the 12 crank and pistons since that is the only difference. You can put 12 crank with the 9 pistons but will have to run a higher octane fuel(104 plus) Only plus by doing this you will run around 12:1 compression. Are you can purchase the kit from NRHS to make it a 1050

converting a 9 to a 12 via crank/stroke...

Lucas might have glossed over a few things. To recap... throttle body, injectors, ECM, exahust system, pistons (a 12:1 CR seems way too high for a street Buell in my opinion.).

Then if you want the 12's stock final drive ratio for good top speed... you'll have some sprockets to change, belt?. Then your speedo will be off...

If it were me, I'd use the big bore kit to go to 1200cc. That way you'd have the displacement, and still keep the higher revs. If you stroke, you loose about 500 rpm from your red line.

I kinda wish i'd had the $$ for the xb12, but it was a $2500 difference at the time. That being said, I havent used the 9s's full potential.

My difference was just after the 12's were released. I just couldn't justify the $3,500 difference in price. I'm happy!
